16.01.2022 Exercise is medicine. Where does your health rank if you were to prioritise the most important things in your life? Sadly, many people neglect their health until it is too late. We place money, relationships, ambition and forget about one of the most important aspects. Us.... Diseases such as diabetes, obesity, heart attacks and strokes to name a few can largely be avoided with a well structured exercise program. Take control of your health before you are forced to make it a priority. Small steps can add up along the way. If you were waiting for a sign to start, this is it. Move Right. Live Right.
14.01.2022 Movement is a passion of mine, or should I say quality movement. The question is what does this look like? Have you ever watched people walking around the park or the shops and thought something looks off? ... Well as humans we have developed a certain way to perform movement with the structure of our bones, muscles e.t.c. This coordination of this structure allows us to perform a chain of patterns like walking, running and jumping. An error in how we use our feet can cascade leading to a change in the way we move, over time if left unchecked this can lead to hip pain, back pain and so on. With the lady above we have focused on restoring her centre, developing the balance and coordination, educating her about her posture and how it relates to movement which has allowed her to ambulate without the need of her walker. There's a reason we spend approximately 1/3 of our lives sleeping (8 hrs/ day) Sleep can assist us in so many ways ranging from: recovery, boosting immune system, preventing weight gain, better mood, increased productivity, improved mental health, improved energy and exercise performance + MORE!... Want to improve your sleep but don't know how? Start with your bedtime ritual, do you watch TV, sit on your phone or blast music just before bed? Chances are the stimulus (noise, blue light e.t.c.) is keeping you up preventing you from getting zzz's - Try using a blue light filter (smart phones and TV'S have these options in the settings. Read a book - this may help you wind down Meditate / Reflect - use this as time for yourself, spend 5-10 minutes focusing on your breath or recounting your day Shut out as much as you can - if you can see the street lights or external light it will make it much more.diffocult to start the process of sleep! Try a cooler environment - we want to start decreasing our temperature to help the sleep process start (18-20 degrees) Let us know how you go!
07.01.2022 What does 'non-negiotables' mean? Non-negotiable should be in place in our lives to make us our best version of ourselves. Simply put, non-negotiables refer to things we will not give up or change.... This will be different from person to person as we all value different things. For me, on a weekly basis to work towards becoming the best version of myself I aim to complete the following: - Getting 7-8 hours of quality sleep/ night - Exercising in some capacity (4-5x per week) - Eating wholesome, nutritious foods - Drink water (3L / day) - Getting decent sun exposure or taking Vitamin D supplements - Spending time with my family / friends - Learning something new each week Throughout my life I have found when I don't complete these tasks on a regular basis I start to change. Become unmotivated, sluggish and definitely not the best me I can be. If you are feeling like you have changed recently or aren't sure where to start, it may be time to reflect on what daily / weekly habits you can perform to make you, you!
