24.01.2022 Terry on the blog for the NSW Regional Safety Conference...

24.01.2022 "The impact of this program has covered the cost ten-fold and our people love it", David Rosete and Andrew Holman taking the group at the Next Phase of Aged Care Reform Conference through IRT's cultural change journey and Move 4 Life's part of it. We are really enjoying our work with the whole IRT team.
24.01.2022 We are looking for an admin/office guru who can keep our operations run like clockwork. Based in our new office in Crows Nest, great conditions, rewarding cause and fantastic team. If you know anyone who this might interest, be sure to share.

22.01.2022 [EAT WELL TO AGE WELL] We write a lot about building resilience to prevent physical decline as we age. But how about what we eat? http://news.harvard.edu//much-of-life-is-beyond-our-contr/... Definitely worth the 5 minutes to read ... here's a few standouts: * There is no single, fit-for-all diet for everyone, said Hu, a professor of nutrition and epidemiology and a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. * The picture that has emerged is that the traditional Mediterranean diet promotes health and well-being, said Willett, the Fredrick John Stare Professor of Nutrition and Epidemiology. Researchers also generally approve of both the vegetarian diet and the Asian diet because they also help increase longevity and decrease the risk of chronic disease. But the Mediterranean reigns supreme, because the Asian diet has salt and starch, and the vegetarian lacks important nutrients. * What is hard to overstate is the importance of eating healthily and mindfully through life, but the good news is that benefits begin as soon as the improved diet does. If youre still alive, its never too late to make a change in our diet, said Willett. It's nice that these themes for eating are congruent with how we look at movement as we age - no one-size fits all and it's never too late to start!
22.01.2022 The Move 4 Life program kicked off at IRT this week. It's been inspiring employees to think about the way they move, turn off their auto pilot and feel better at work and at home. Thanks to all our trainers for putting in the time to learn the material and share their experiences!
21.01.2022 Nice form ... and great message. Never too young!
20.01.2022 That's a wrap for 2019!
20.01.2022 IRT Group is doing an amazing job! If you work in #agedcare or a nursing environment this is what's possible. Congratulations Campbell McGlynn, Andrew Holman, Jared Stankovski, Kelly Hobbs and Nisa Agas.

13.01.2022 An awesome Good News Story from UGL-Unipart at Auburn. This is why we go to work every day ... helping people reduce pain and improve the quality of their life! Thanks Kelly Hobson Faulks.
13.01.2022 Some good news for those tennis players out there! Better than cycling, jogging and swimming. Seems like the social interaction counts for a lot.
13.01.2022 Komatsu has kicked-off its Move 4 Life implementation with a great launch clip including feedback from participants in the pilot program at Wacol in SE QLD.
11.01.2022 This is the story of 12 months work in Australia Post's Post Office Network. There are some extraordinary stories here. AusPost's internal MOVE Trainers and MOVE Champions, supported by their Managers, are doing a great job in helping their colleagues to MOVE better and LIVE better.
10.01.2022 Terry Wong from Move 4 Life was a presenter at last years NSW Safety Conference & Expo and we knew we HAD to have him back this year. You can see why! ... Thanks to sponsor The Marketing GP #NSWSafetyExpo #interactive #TerryWong #DAY1
10.01.2022 [COMMUNITY WELLBEING ANNOUNCEMENT] I fear that the human body will evolve from one where our head sits square and centred on our shoulders ... to one where it sits permanently poked forward like a turtle. It's no wonder why. We spend such a huge amount of time LOOKING DOWN. In fact, if you are reading this on a device, the chances are ... you are LOOKING DOWN!... This post is not about how we need to divorce ourselves from our posture-worsening technology (I live in this world as well), but one that seeks to establish balance by doing one simple thing. LOOK UP people! Try this whilst you are walking ... * Gaze up at the tops of trees and notice their gentle sway * Notice the clouds and see if they resemble any animate objects * Simply imagine you are a tourist in your own backyard! Then these things will happen ... * You'll feel your hunchback-like posture start to unravel * The tension in your shoulders starts to slowly melt away * The air mysteriously rushes effortlessly into your lungs * And ... you simply feel better. * Then ... you step in a rogue dog deposit that wasn't collected by it's dutiful human servant! Try it .. you might like it! Terry PS. To avoid the dog deposit ... simply scan for 2 seconds the path ahead and then continue to LOOK UP!
09.01.2022 A glimpse of one of our MOVE Trainers at IRT Group doing great work and getting fantastic feedback.
09.01.2022 [ARE YOUR KNEES ... BEE'S KNEES?] Interesting article for those considering surgery or dealing with knee issues. https://www.nytimes.com//what-i-wish-id-known-about-my-kne... "an expert panel that systematically reviewed 12 well-designed trials and 13 observational studies, concluded that arthroscopic surgery for degenerative knee arthritis and meniscal tears resulted in no lasting pain relief or improved function." At Move 4 Life we come across people with knee issues all the time. I'm continually amazed at how many people's faces light up when they discover there's a way to bend their knees without pain. Always exhaust all other avenues before going under the knife I guess. Sometimes it's the simply things that are the most effective.
08.01.2022 Good to see the Kennards Hire logo emblazoned on the brand new #SydneyFC kit. Looks like their MOVE Trainers have already made their mark on the team's squat technique. #arsenalinsydney
07.01.2022 Terry Wong from Move 4 Life was a presenter at last year’s NSW Safety Conference & Expo and we knew we HAD to have him back this year. You can see why! ... Thanks to sponsor The Marketing GP #NSWSafetyExpo #interactive #TerryWong #DAY1
06.01.2022 Great working with these Trainers from @goodmanfielderNZ this week. Looking forward to hearing about all the positive stories you generate from your training.
06.01.2022 MOVE more! Further evidence suggesting modest movement increases metabolic rates 17% more than sitting at a desk and 7% more than a standing desk. While we believe standing desks are great at providing employees more options to vary their position during the day, they are not a magic pill to our increasingly sedentary lives. Figuring out how to move more is the key.
05.01.2022 Viva doing great work in safety at Melbourne Airport...
05.01.2022 IRT is on fire with it's Move 4 Life kick-off!
05.01.2022 Aside from reducing screen time, it's nothing the occasional Star Gaze won't fix
05.01.2022 Some great tips from Associate Professor Josephine Anderson from the Black Dog Institute in this article about exercise and it's role in the management of mental health issues. Practical tips to get you going (often when it's the last thing you feel like doing) like .... * Start small * Plan it... * Reward yourself * Build in a social accountability element * Enjoy it See more
03.01.2022 We're growing strongly and absolutely committed to delivering for our customers. This is a highly autonomous role in planning & leading the execution of our work with customers. Good relationship management skills, planning and coordination + flexibility are the keys for this role.
03.01.2022 The latest article from Terry Wong about the common practice of "stretching" before work (and sport) and whether it works. Perhaps a good time to question long-held beliefs and practices?
03.01.2022 It seems walking at a faster pace is linked to higher levels of extraversion, conscientiousness, openness and lower levels of neuroticism. Check out this article by IFLScience interpreting this study published by the Society for Social Psychological and Personality Science.
02.01.2022 Same-same-but-different. A photo from Super Retail Group's Altona site. Here's the team doing their daily 60-second Investment with social distancing in practice. When you are dealing with extraordinary times, sometimes it's best to keep doing the ordinary things that work - especially ones that help employees feel good and prevent injury! Thanks to Shonelle, the site's MOVE Trainer for the share!
01.01.2022 "Strength exercise is as important as aerobic physical activity" + "not much difference between gym-based or home-based strength exercise" are great points revealed in this article. Good news for those who loathe pounding out cardio in the gym. The best exercise for you ... is the exercise you do. So do whatever works folks.
