18.01.2022 With the start of 2021, I thought I will show my face and introduce myself! So hi, I'm Shalaine and I'm the owner of MoveMEANT Personal Fitness! I started my business in 2019 and chose to specifically train women. The decision was easy for me. With a 4yr old daughter and a 2yr son I understand how busy life can get and we seem to always put ourselves last. So I wanted to change that. I created a space that women could feel comfortable coming to and just be able to focus o...n themselves. You won't find pictures of my clients posted all over social media ( only the ones who don't mind) as they are shy and not everyone's goals are the same. I completely understand that and I value their privacy. Like many businesses in 2020 I was shut down before I reached the first 12 months of been open and then again later on in the year. I could not have stayed open if it wasn't for my beautiful clients, who SUPPORTED me through it all! You see my clients aren't just clients but have become very dear friends of mine. So to end this very long post, I just wanted to say that I hope I get to meet some more beautiful women out there, who will one day too become very dear friends of mine. 07.01.2022 Diastasis Recti - have you heard that term before? It short it means separation of the abdominal wall. it's when the gap in the middle of the abdominal wall widen as the baby grows. And this causes the abdominal wall to weaken. This can also cause weakening of the pelvic floor and cause back pain as there is no support. For many women the gap can remain wide at 8 weeks and even up to a year or more post partum especially if they don't realize that this has happened. A visibl...e sign that you may have diastasis recti is if you see a 'pooch' or 'doming' of your stomach, you may even appear a few months pregnant. If you think you may suffer from it, you should see a women's health physio, as they can test and see how big the gap is. There are core exercises you can do to start to strengthening your core without doing crunches! You want to learn to engage the core by bring both walls of the abdominal walls together. Lie on your back with soles of your feet on the ground. You want to gently draw your belly button inward as you slowly exhale. Be careful to not suck in your stomach and don't hold your breath. You can repeat by drawing the belly button inward, holding for a few seconds, release and do it again for a few times. This is just the very short version of it all! There is so much to be done but all is do able with a good women's health physio and a good pre and post natal trainer. :)
