21.01.2022 Dr Jess is back from holidays and feeling refreshed! Due to a small Melbourne Covid outbreak over the past 2 weeks, masks are once again mandatory indoors (unless you have a medical exemption). Please wear one to your appointment and fingers crossed we go back to normal breathing and seeing faces soon

20.01.2022 TENNIS ELBOW Did you know that "Tennis Elbow" is a bit of a misnomer? It has very little to do with tennis and actually has more to do with wrist movements than elbow movements! Tennis elbow (medically termed 'Lateral Epicondylitis') is a repetitive strain injury (RSI) of your common wrist extensor tendons which attach in to the outside of the elbow.... This means that repetitive WRIST movements, not elbow movements are more likely to cause this condition. If you have correct technique with your tennis swing, you shouldn't get "Tennis Elbow". "Tennis Elbow" is actually far more common in tradies (repetitive work with tools e.g. hammering, screwdriving), desk workers (if the keyboard/mouse set-up is not ergonomic) or even in gym goers where they might use a tight grip or extended wrist position when using barbells or kettlebells. Tennis Elbow can last for MONTHS or even YEARS if it is not addressed properly! SO WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT IT? - Try changing the grip size of tools, barbells, kettlebells, handlebars, rackets etc; - See if you can pinpoint repetitive-wrist movements that might be responsible and then avoid that activity as much as possible. - Try an elastic tennis elbow brace (not one of the sleeves but a 2-inch, thick band that sits 1 inch below the elbow) - the idea of this is to change WHERE the stress gets put through the tendon and give the outside of the elbow a rest. - Tape the elbow (Dr Jess can show you how). - Check that your workplace or home office is set up ergonomically (not just for your spine but also for your wrist and elbow position). - Perform some wrist stretches, exercises and self myofascial release (gently massage the muscle belly whilst moving the wrist through flexion and extension). - Take over the counter anti-inflammatories if need be (I prefer to get to the source of the problem but if you need them, you need them!) - See Dr Jess who will perform specific massage techniques to relieve muscle tension and reduce strain on the elbow. She may also use gentle adjustments to wrist, elbow and shoulder to ensure optimal movement. In addition, she can show you how to "tape for Tennis Elbow" and provide stretches/exercises to do at home. Do you or someone you know have Tennis Elbow?

15.01.2022 Hi all, Due to government restrictions, Movement Chiro will unfortunately be CLOSED for the duration of the 5 day lockdown. We anticipate to reopen on Thursday 18th February. Appointments will be available in South Yarra Thursday 18th - Saturday 20th with Chadstone appointments resuming Monday 22nd February. Stay safe, take care and see you soon! Xo

15.01.2022 GREAT NEWS! Allied health care is no longer restricted to just urgent/emergency treatments. Who here has been hanging out for an appointment over the past few months!? As of Monday 28th September, Movement Chiro is able to offer services for a broader range of conditions and circumstances. If you are unsure what this means for you, please don't hesitate to get in touch!... I look forward to seeing everyone in the coming weeks! xo

13.01.2022 BACK AT CHADDY! Chiro appointments available at the Chadstone SPHC gym (typically Monday - Thursday). South Yarra appointments available on select Friday/Saturday/Sunday's and call-outs can be arranged by request (subject to availability). Apologies to all for the lack of posts recently. It's been a busy month preparing the gym for reopening and then reopening on the 9th of November! ... Initially, for the first two weeks we began with a maximum of just 20 people in the gym at any one time. We had a whole new booking system, app and software to role out so things have been hectic. With the restrictions eased on 23rd November and a total of 150 people allowed in the gym at one time (which far exceeds our usual attendance), I once again have access to the Chiro treatment room! Hooray! I look forward to seeing everyone in the coming weeks :-) Cheers, Dr Jess (Chiro)

13.01.2022 Which one are you? I'm definitely "The Wriggler"!

11.01.2022 Go you good thing! A few bumps in the road but we’re nearly there!

10.01.2022 As many of you know, Dr Jess is 6 months pregnant! She will be taking appointments at Chadstone right through until the end of APRIL (with a due date of May 23rd). At least that’s the plan! She’s feeling great so we are looking good. ... She will then be taking approximately 3-4 months of maternity leave with the aim to return to Movement Chiro one day per week from the end of August (roughly). Whether you are a new or existing patient, if you have been thinking of booking an appointment, please don’t hesitate to contact Dr Jess on 0430 030 521. It’s not too late to start care - There’s a lot that can be accomplished in 2 months :-)

10.01.2022 Good morning all! I'm sure you're all wondering, what does this mean for the Chiro treatment room!? Well...we're not sure yet. With a maximum of only 20 people per venue, this will likely be reserved for gym members only, meaning we might have to wait a bit longer (hopefully not too long) before the treatment room is available. ... But, as we've seen before, things can change very quickly. Fitness Australia is continuing to push for appropriate density limits rather than an arbitrary number. We sure have hopes that a gym the size of SPHC Chadstone will be allowed to have more than 20 people in at one time!! Dr Jess will be in touch with everyone individually leading up to their appointments from Nov 9th onwards to confirm day/time/location etc; In the meantime, appointments will continue to be available in South Yarra and via call out. We appreciate your understanding during this very exciting and yet confusing transition period :-)

10.01.2022 YESSS! I am pleased to announce that from midnight tonight, there will no longer be any restrictions on Chiropractic care. This means that all forms of treatment are now available (not just pain management), including maintenance, preventative or wellness care Thinking of everyone in fitness, retail, hospitality and other industries that remain closed and hoping the re-opening date is sooner rather than later

10.01.2022 Not long to go now! Dr Jess is due to go on maternity leave at the end of April. Normal appointments are available until the ANZAC day weekend. The following week of 26th - 30th April will have limited appointments available. ... To book an appointment, please text or call Movement Chiro on 0430 030 521.

09.01.2022 HAPPY VALENSPINES DAY! It’s not quite how Ash and I expected to spend the day (our first dining-out plans since March last year cancelled due to this lockdown) but we are thankful to spend the day together! Hoping everyone is able to spend time with a loved one (partner, friend or family), in-person or virtually. ... Hugs to all

07.01.2022 WHAT IS DELAYED ONSET MUSCLE SORENESS? (often shortened to DOMS). With gyms reopened and restrictions eased, many of you may be experiencing it! DOMS refers to pain that occurs 1-2 days AFTER a workout and can last up to 5 days (but usually only 3 days). It DOES NOT occur during your workout....Continue reading

05.01.2022 Hoppy Easter, Every-bunny!
