During COVID, I participated in Zoom sessions with Lauren and I have found these very beneficial and then Lauren and Erin created some videos for me to ensure that I was able to do some Pilates most days. 23.01.2022 Today is the day we sadly farewell the gorgeous Shauna . Even though we are excited to see her step into the next chapter in Ballarat, she will be greatly missed. Our tribe and studios wont be the same without her passion for Pilates and the nurturing and caring approach she took to every body she taught. Shauna was an integral part of the business behind the scenes running the front desk at our Hunters Hill studio as well as having a very active role in our social media pages. 22.01.2022 MEET LINDSAY Lindsay grew up in Vancouver, Canada where she gained a love movement from an early age. Be it hiking in the forest, skiing in the mountains, dancing classical ballet, or practicing yoga or Pilates. So it only made sense that after a career in marketing and PR, she got out from behind her desk to focus on teaching Pilates and yoga. Lindsay loves Pilates for how it allows her to move her spine in ways far beyond the everyday, and strengthen the body-mind-breat...h connection. Some of her favourite exercises include short spine, tower, semi circle, and anything that allows her to go into extension (think pulling straps and swan). 14.01.2022 M E E T S H I R L E Y With a background as a K-Pop (Korean Pop Song) dance teacher and choreographer, Shirley naturally developed a passion for various movement exercises including HIIT and aerial yoga. After being introduced to Pilates in 2015 Shirley was hooked and decided to embark on a Pilates career completing the Cert IV in Mat and Reformer Pilates with Breathe Education in 2018 and currently completing her Diploma of Clinical Pilates. Shirley loves how Pilates foc...uses on breathing, posture and stability as well as core strength and finds that a whole body workout is varied, challenging and dynamic. Shirley is in high demand with clients who speak Cantonese, Mandarin and Korean as she is able to translate the method in a language that helps them get the best out of their sessions. 13.01.2022 MEET Erin Erin discovered Pilates when she was 16 but never stuck to it until after a change in career led her to our studios and she hasnt looked back. Starting off completing a Certificate IV in Matwork,as soon as she started teaching she knew she was hooked and needed to do more! Now with a Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction from PilatesITC, Erin has discovered a passion for movement and intends to continue her learning journey with further Pilates studies... with other organisations. Erin enjoys empowering people through Pilates and helping them discover their own bodies potential through movement and loves working with them to help them achieve their goals. As a teacher Erin has found that you never stop learning. She is also working toward achieving personal physical goals of her own and overcoming her own movement fears. 13.01.2022 MEET JO Jo comes from an extensive background of teaching and performance as a musician. Encouraging the mind and body to work in harmony to gain ease in performance is integral to her music life and trnasitions perfectly to the world of Pilates. First walking into a Group Reformer class in 2010, Jo immediately fell in love with the movement flow with breath, challenge to balance and ability to strengthen whilst creating length. A deep immersion into awareness of the bo...dy and how to encourage it to a place of greater function and fluidity. Studying with PilatesITC in Matwork and Reformer was a logical step to bring together both teaching and Pilates knowledge. During 2017, Jo was a student in the BodyMinded course with Sydney Alexander Technique and has just enrolled to complete her Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction with PilatesITC, simultaneously with breathe Educations Certificate IV as well as still maintaining her full time job as a music teacher. 12.01.2022 MEET SHARAN Sharan is one of our senior instructors and has been part of the team for more than 10 years, starting with us back in our Pilates International Turramurra days. Leaving a career in Design Education, Sharan moved overseas with her family. She was first introduced to Pilates in the US where she became fascinated with the Pilates method. Sharan was drawn to the precision of the Pilates movements and their power to transform the body. Sharan studied Pilates in S...ingapore with Pilates ITC (Sydney) and Polestar International. She was an instructor in a busy studio in Singapore for 2 years and set up her own Pilates studio in Shanghai when her family moved there. Now as one of our senior instructors at our Pymble studio, Sharan has a wealth of knowledge in regards to how Pilates helps to manage chronic conditions such as arthritis and osteoporosis. Sharan has always had a passion for learning and continually seeks to expand her knowledge and understanding of Pilates and the body through workshops and Pilates sessions. Pilates was an integral part of Elyshas physical education throughout her dance training. She was introduced to Pilates in her early teens to compliment her full-time Ballet training, and her experience with Pilates during her formative years greatly helped her understanding of the benefits of the Pilates Method for not just athletes but for everyone. She has used Pilates to maintain and have longevity in her dance career and has gained a great passion for Pilates instruction in the process. 09.01.2022 MEET LAURA Laura began her Pilates journey over 20 years ago as a young dancer to help strengthen and condition her body while completing her BA in Dance from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts which lead to performing with various independent artists and companies. Since completing her first Pilates certification in 2003 with PilatesITC, Laura has continued to grow as an instructor with over 15 years of teaching and client nurturing experience throughout... Sydney, Brisbane, and Canberra, gaining her Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method in 2011. Laura is a familiar face to our long-term studio clients as we were lucky to have her as a studio manager in the early days at our Turramurra studio before returning to her native Canberra and managing The Pilates Centre Canberra. Laura also managed to find time to be an active committee member with Pilates Alliance Australasia before motherhood beckoned and she took a well-earned break from teaching. 09.01.2022 MEET KAREN Pymble instructor Karen loves Pilates as much as you do! So what got her started? I was doing cardio and strength training at a gym but not much stretching so thought Id try a Pilates class. I loved it, though I felt I had a long way to go. It was the desire to improve that prompted me to do an instructor course. As I got opportunities to teach, I saw how much other people benefited from, and enjoyed, movement and learning body awareness. Although Catherine previously worked in Sales and also has a degree in businses, she always had a passion for fitness. Taking up Pilates after the birth of her son, Catherine fell in love with the Pilates Method because of how it restored her body back to pre-pregnancy condition. From there she spent her pre-family career working in sales, marketing and as a National Account Manager in the beer industry, where her last role was as the National Development Manager for Hoegaarden Beer. 04.01.2022 MEET SALLY Sally was first introduced to Pilates in 1997 while a student at The Australian Ballet School, impressed by its immediate results it became an integral part of her training regime. Not only to ensure her body was in peak fitness and able to withstand the demands of her profession, but also to prevent and rehabilitate from injury. Her professional career took her over to the UK where she danced with the English National Ballet. Sally commenced her first Pilates... certification in 2003 with Pilates International in Melbourne, and continues to study, learn, and improve her knowledge. One of the highlights of Sallys Pilates career was working as a course educator and trainer for Body Control Pilates in the UK. Now a mother of two boys, she has enjoyed the benefits of pre and postnatal programmes, as well as Pilates for runners. A new passion, Pilates had helped her cross train for long distance runs. 03.01.2022 MEET LAUREN After discovering the wonderful benefits of Pilates, Lauren completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice in 2005 and has been part of the Pilates Int/Movement Collective team since then. In 2010, Lauren took a year off to travel, work and ski overseas and since her return has become a multi faceted member of staff. Lauren was integral to the opening of our Hunters Hill studio in 2007, has taught between our 3 Sydney locations, and until recently wa...s a faculty member and Training Coordinator for PilatesITC, a role she enjoyed immensely. As well as juggling her time between teaching in the studio and delivering workshops for PilatesITC, she completed her Bachelor Degree in Commerce at Macquarie University, completed her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is currently undertaking the Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method. 02.01.2022 To our beautiful Movement Collective tribe, Due to the current outbreak we have made the decision to close all our studios effective immediately. The health and safety of our wonderful clients and staff is our biggest priority always. Unfortunately with the greater Sydney area threatened by lockdown we feel it’s best for the community to shut our doors a little earlier than planned to ensure we can do our bit to help stop the spread. At this stage we intend to reopen 4th Ja...n 2021. With restrictions tightening up and our studios back up and running with multiple classes, it made sense to just close temporarily to ensure we are doing our bit to get through this health crisis. Thank you for your continued support throughout the years with this one in particular- our studios wouldn’t be what they are without each and every one of you.
