22.01.2022 As per the new COVID-19 regulations, Gyms will be closed for business as of 12pm tomorrow the 23rd of March. This will also mean that Movement in Mind Exercise Physiology will unfortunately have to cease services within Anytime Fitness Norwood until further notice. This is an unsettling time for everyone. As more and more people become isolated to their homes and away from others, it is not unusual to experience feelings of anxiety, depression and even despair. However, thi...s is also a time to reflect on the things that matter most. A question I often ask my clients is: What are your values?. You may have to stop going to work. You may stop making money. You may have to cease your normal routine. But at the end of the day, what are the things you value most? For me, it’s about spending more time with my Wife Andrea, my dog Jeffrey and my new born son Oliver. It’s also about maintaining my Health, both physically and mentally. The pandemic brought about by this virus will stop many things in your life, but don’t let it get in the way of your values. In the meantime for those of you that are in need, Exercise physiology services will still be offered externally from the gym to those seeking: Tailored home exercise programs Specialist Clinical Exercise advice for those suffering from a chronic health conditions via Online consultations Yours in health, Christian, Movement in Mind- Exercise physiology

10.01.2022 Keen on exercising at home but don’t know where to start? You’re going to see and hear a lot of information online, from friends and on the news about the importance of staying mentally and physically active, but its often difficult to know where to begin, especially if you have an underlying health condition. You also may be asking yourself: ... Sure that works for some people, but what’s the best thing for me? I want to start exercising but I also have (Insert health problem) so what can I do? I don’t have ANY of that equipment, can I even exercise effectively? Am I even safe to exercise? Simply put, although exercise doesn’t need to be complicated by any means it should work with and around your personal goals, lifestyle and potential health conditions. This is where an Accredited Exercise Physiologist can be utilised. Like many other allied health practitioners still working to help those with their health and wellbeing in such challenging times, we want to do everything within our power to help you maintain any sort of normality whilst keeping sight of the most important thing in our lives- our health. The government has now provided Exercise Physiologists with the ability to provide Telehealth appointments to those in need of our services. What this effectively means is that if you have a chronic health condition (See link below if you are eligible), you simply need to speak to your GP about getting a referral. Once you have been given a referral, you can access up to 5 appointments covered by Medicare (Appointments are Bulk Billed - No gap payment). Appointments are then carried out via either phone call or secure video chat. Alternatively if you are not eligible for a referral but still want specialist exercise advice, private appointments are also available. For more details or to organize your personalised plan, contact me on: Ph. 0423730965 Email: [email protected] Eligibility for referral: https://exerciseright.com.au/chronic-conditions/ #exercise #covd19 #homeworkout #exercisephysiology #healthylifestyle #chronicillness

07.01.2022 So some of you may be wondering: What even is an Exercise Physiologist (EP)? This link explains the nuts and bolts of it: https://exerciseright.com.au/what-is-an-accredited-exercis/... Give that a read, but a bit about me: My name is Christian and I have a passion for educating and motivating people. My role as an EP is to provide people with the necessary tools and information in order to get them moving, reduce their pain and improve their function in order to live a happy, healthy life. My area of interest is in helping people with Chronic Pain as well as Musculoskeletal Injuries, but more on that in future posts #movementinmind #anytimefitnessnorwood #exercisephysiology

02.01.2022 How can I book in with an Exercise Physiologist? Do I need a referral? At Movement in Mind you do not require a referral to see an EP, therefore you can simply call, email or book online to schedule a time! Private health cover:... Just book in a time and bring your private health card. Each private health company is slightly varied in their level of cover so you may want to first check with your service provider. GP referral including Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA): If you have a chronic disease or condition (eg. Obesity, depression, persistent pain, diabetes, heart disease etc) you may be eligible for a select amount of Medicare rebatable appointments per year under a chronic disease management plan or diabetes management plan. This may be obtained upon referral by your GP. At Movement in Mind Medicare sessions are Bulk Billed (No gap payment). Workers compensation: Part of a return to work plan will often require the services of an EP to assist in rehabilitation. Details for this can be discussed with your allocated case manager. National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS): Those that fall under Plan managed or Self managed within the NDIS may be able to utilize the services for Exercise Physiology services at Movement in Mind.
