16.01.2022 Why do I strength train? Strength training is the foundation of confidence. It takes a lot of courage, time, hard work and consistency to slap a shit load of weight on a barbell and move it safely. You have to know forwards, backwards, upside down and back to front how to do that movement that the weight doesn’t throw you. This means knowing what the hell you are doing. This is confidence.... It’s not about being the strongest person on the gym, or on your social media news feed. It’s not about being the skinniest person you know. It’s about feeling confident about yourself. Having the confidence to walk into the gym and work hard to achieve the results that you want to achieve. Then achieving these results as a result of your own hard work. This is confidence. Help lead the world into 2020. Woman can be strong too. And boy does it feel good when you are. Share the passion, join the revolution. 16.01.2022 Today is R U OK day. As most of you know, mental health, mental health awareness and suicide awareness are very important to me. Take a moment today to make sure the people in your life are ok. But don’t stop there! Keep it up everyday of your life. The team at Fitness First Bourke Street all donated $20 to support the work the R U OK charity are doing, and wore these vibrant T-shirt’s in sign of our support. Spread the word!... #ruok

11.01.2022 Seen as it is world mental health month, I thought it would be an appropriate time to address mental health days. Everyone is entitled to take a day off due to mental health! One thing I have slowly learned in my time as a personal trainer is to put myself first. If I need a day off, I need to take that day off. Reschedules are a part of the job, meetings running over, not sleeping, illness, or just life in general gets in the way and a client needs to reschedule and I’m alw...ays willing to do so. If someone doesn’t understand or doesn’t appreciate their schedule being changed for me doing the same thing, I used to stress myself out and pressure myself into going to work just for these people. Making myself feel worse. This is not ok! If you run a business remember, your business is more than just one client. You can’t burn yourself out to please one person, otherwise the rest of your clients suffer. Look after yourself first! Take a day off! If you’re looked after you will perform better every other day of the week! #selfcare #mentalhealthdays

05.01.2022 I know I’m about to bring up a pretty touchy subject, but something needs to be said. Marijuana, is not safe to use daily, or long term. There is a reason that’s it’s illegal and I find it absurd that so many countries are legalising it for recreational use. It affects the brain in so many ways, yes it has benefits for people with chronic pain, but these people are not allowed to drive or work while taking it.... Long term effects can be memory loss, hallucinations, conflictive functions and the ability to learn. See: https://americanaddictioncenters.org/mari/long-term-effects For more information. Living a healthy lifestyle, means living your life well. Eating well, sleeping well, training and keeping active, avoiding toxic substances etc. As a society toxic substances are being used to reduce stress - a cheat so to speak. Alcohol, smoking cigarettes or marijuana. This look all easy ways out are, are only going to lead to more issues in the long run. #lookafteryourself #healthyliving
