21.01.2022 REGISTRATIONS are OPEN for 2021! CONTEMPORARY FUSION is influenced by classical ballet, jazz, lyrical dance, acrobatics and hip-hop. Through a variety of combinations and freestyling, dancers will learn to layer dynamics and musicality whilst improving performance quality and stamina, plus developing dance ability, flexibility, strength and musicality. Contemporary dance is interpretive in its choreography and often focuses on emotions and storytelling, structured or unco...nventional and can be performed barefoot, with shoes, and with or without music. Contemporary Fusion offers a freedom of movement that allows dancers with less training or technique to still enjoy dance without the need for perfect turnout or perfect feet. Starting in 2021! This exciting new class is taught by instructor @iskha.m who is an experienced dancer in the styles of classical, contemporary, hip-hop and aerial. *link in bio

11.01.2022 Dear Dan Andrews - Dance Schools across Victoria have been closing permanently, our students have poor mental health outcomes and the broader arts industry has ...been decimated. Yet still your government refuse to address us. You need to open our industry. Here are the gross inaccuracies and inconsistencies our industry is battling right now: - In your presser 3 and a half weeks ago you said the Public Health team were reviewing our restrictions. We have not been consulted and still they ignore our request for information. - You have banned Metro dance teachers from accessing their studios. You’ve said ONE dance teacher in a studio by themselves teaching online is unacceptable, yet most coffee shops around Melbourne have two baristas working side by side - There have been thousands of medical papers published about COVID and NOT ONE highlights indoors children activity as a risk. The only one even remotely close was a case in Korea and that was an adult dance fitness class in a gym - Primary schools right across the state are having dance parties and dance classes indoors (pictured) - Full contact sport is allowed in regions - Community sport get grants, their grounds are usually government owned and run - what do we get in the arts? The reality is that dance schools are absolutely taken for granted. Our industry brings in $300m a year and we are the foundation for nearly every single professional dancer and performing artist. Every day we receive calls from a number of our 1000 schools across the state telling us they are closing for good. These incredibly smart business owners have been in business for a long time - some over 30 years. To lose everything for something out of our control and without adequate government funding is disgraceful. We need your government to acknowledge our industry and provide support. Not all of us will open but we need the option. We are a safe industry and there are no cases in dance schools around Australia who have been running classes in a COVID environment since June. I’m very happy to discuss with one of your staff members but please remember us in your announcement tomorrow - this is a critical moment for our industry. Mike Harrison-Lamond Chair, Dance Arts Alliance On behalf of the 150,000 children across the state who are desperately waiting for their dance studio to open

07.01.2022 "Dance is one of the best forms of health replenishing and maintaining activities... It encompasses exercise, right and left brain connection, mobility, joy and connection. Moving our bodies in creative ways backed by the healing properties of music, our whole mind, body and spirits are uplifted. All of this amplified by dancing with others in creating a therapeutic sense of connection to ourselves and our community." ... - Richard Mayes @the.dancingdoctor
