25.01.2022 You know that moment after you’ve taken a leap of faith, and then you just have to leave everything to the universe. That’s what this pic is about. The space after being brave; being you. ... What a space to be. Could you benefit from a little of that unguarded openness? It’s not easy, it takes work and energy, but it’s strong. The vibrations, the possibilities, the vulnerability. Every time we act bravely, not knowing the outcome, we learn a little more about ourselves. We open a little more, and we connect into that inner light. The energy in all of us, shining at different lumens, but connected through our ability to lighten even the darkest of spaces. Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it's having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. Vulnerability is not weakness; it's our greatest measure of courage. Brené Brown

20.01.2022 What an incredible few months it’s been! When I first started teaching online because #covid19 I had no idea how I would go. Sure I’d watched lots of yoga on YouTube but being the teacher instead of the student is very different. At first I was disappointed that studios, [including my own little space] had to close, and the connection with students wasn’t the same. But as the pandemic journey has gone on here in Melbourne that connection has just moulded itself to the situa...tion. Although virtual, connecting with others is such a delight. And with many incredible people I may never have crossed paths with had it not been for this situation. Just this past week I’ve had the absolute pleasure of guiding students online at Miss Spartan and Switch Health and Fitness as well as my own class. What a joy to bring some love and peace in such stressful circumstances. Lockdown isn’t fun, but there are ways we can all get through it a little easier. And as I further my studies in yoga and grow with the needs of my students, I am sure so much more good can come from this. Virtual or not, Yoga is amazing. Being able to share it brings me so much joy...and massive thanks to my supporters. You know who you are . See you on the screen. ...happy to chat if you’re keen for an online class of your own. Just DM me.

19.01.2022 This week we’ve been de-screening [is that even a word?]. A chance to disconnect from tech and rely on it less. And like everyone in Melbourne we’ve been relying on it A LOT. It has not been easy, particularly for my children. Having spent so long using screens for school, to de-stress, to connect with friends, for extra curricular activities, to entertain and to keep up-to-date they have been incredible. And now that life is slowly starting to open up again, and it’s school ...holidays [so no screen commitments] it’s time. We need less of them and it was never going to be pleasant. I have held space as best I can, and sometimes I got dragged into it. But we have really turned a corner today and I can feel it. The pain was worth it. It’s certainly not over, but when you know yourself, and you know your children, sometimes you just have to be brave. To take the first step and just keep walking, even if it feels like quicksand or hot coals. Thankfully yoga has given me, and continues to instil in me, great courage, patience and understanding. I can find balance more easily and while I understand my children are learning to deal with big emotions too, I’m doing the best I can. I can genuinely smile and say it’s a good day. I hope you too feel empowered to do what needs to happen, no matter how difficult the journey may be. Much love and good luck to all Melbournians on the journey back. It’s going to mean a lotta learning and even more patience... and some sunshine too A

19.01.2022 So love being a part of the incredible team Miss Spartan. Thursday nights are the best!! Join me if you’re free. 7pm on zoom.... A

19.01.2022 During the past couple of months I’ve been making a real effort to be present. Present with myself, my children, my family and friends. Offering my time and energy as needed by others but making sure I took time for me too. This often meant early mornings, even in the holidays, but without this commitment to give back to myself I simply couldn’t give properly to others.... This extra nourishment has given me so much joy. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving. My family life, though often still chaotic, is calmer and happier. My focus and ability to get stuff done is stronger, and my inner peace is helping me to soften. It’s that softness that I continue to seek. It hides in the pauses, in the moments of stillness, in the listening and the giving. Structure and strength are important, but without a little give, cracks start to appear and things start to crumble. It’s a bit like an animal exposing their belly for a pat. It’s their softest, most vulnerable part, but the tummy rub is so good it’s worth being vulnerable for. #soften #vulnerable #beingpresent #listenout #listenin #timeforme #lifelessons #yogateacher #hathayoga #yinyogalove #vinyasayoga #slowflow #restorativeyoga #boroondaralife #boroondara #camberwell #surreyhills3127 #boxhillsouth #canterburyvictoria #melbournelovesyoga #melbourneyoga #yogamelbourne #melbourneeast #ilovemelbourne #melbournevictoria #movemindme

19.01.2022 When you take the fam out for their daily exercise and they won’t get in the photo with you . So cool seeing the water flowing so strongly after such a rainy weekend. This limited outdoor time definitely heightens the senses. Every time we’re out I take in as much as I can. And stop for photos along the way so we can look back on this incredible time.... Playgrounds and skate parks may be closed, but nature is always there to indulge the senses. I hope you’re getting out and about as best you can... and stopping to enjoy the view [over your mask ]. #beautyinnature #movingmeditation #outdoortime #safeathome #onlineyoga #selfcare #gentleyoga #meditation #yogaforall #yinyogalove #vinyasaflow #slowflow #boroondaralife #boroondara #camberwell #surreyhills3127 #canterburyvictoria #melbournelovesyoga #melbourneyoga #yogamelbourne #melbourneeast #ilovemelbourne #melbournevictoria #movemindme

18.01.2022 I love the physical aspect of yoga. I am not good at sitting still and I crave movement in my day. This is something I instil in my children. The importance of movement and opportunities to use our bodies in an active way. I think that’s why I am so drawn to yoga. Moving the body is only one small part. There is so much more integrated into the practice, all stemming from a place of love.... Lately I haven’t been taking enough time to be still. My meditation is limited and my own practice is irregular. School holidays will do that to you, so I’m not being too hard on myself. But I’m so ready to find that consistency again. If you’re a bit out of practice , or you’re out of routine, just know you’re not alone. Life ebbs and flows, and sometimes so does our practice. Just because you’re not sitting still in focused meditation for an hour doesn’t mean the ten minute moving meditation is of less value. All acts of self care, no matter how small, are valuable. #selfcare #movingmeditation #nobodysperfect #mumlife #boymum #yogamum #gentleyoga #meditation #yogaforall #yinyogalove #vinyasaflow #slowflow #boroondaralife #boroondara #camberwell #surreyhills3127 #canterburyvictoria #melbournelovesyoga #melbourneyoga #yogamelbourne #melbourneeast #ilovemelbourne #melbournevictoria #movemindme

16.01.2022 Is your pet loving having you home? Our dog Sasha has learnt the meaning of see ya when my husband says it as he finishes his meetings. She sits on a mat next to his desk, and hovers in the kitchen as he makes his coffee ... and when we prepare every meal. ... Every time I start gathering our boys up to get some exercise she follows me, or sits at the front door waiting ... impatiently . She may be 13 but she’s still loves a wander and a sniff, and sometimes a swim ... as many times a day as she can. How lucky are our pets to have us home! ... share the pet love with a pic

15.01.2022 This group is so incredible. If you’re keen for some free wellness, join in and have a look through the units. You’ll find my yoga classes in there, along with other fantastic women sharing their knowledge. From boxing to sound baths, yoga to parenting and everything in between. I hope to add some more classes myself in the coming months. ... In the meantime, give these ones a try. Amber

13.01.2022 You know what they say ... ok, we’ll who are they anyway? And why are they saying anything? Is their opinion really valid in this situation? Is it going to change anything? So I say jump. Jump in, jump up, jump down, jump around. Throw caution to the wind and go for it.... If lockdown has taught me [I won’t say us because who am I to know what it’s taught you] anything, it’s to be more playful. Just because I’m an adult doesn’t mean I can’t have fun. And not drunk or boozy fun, just pure and simple letting it all go fun. Water up the nose, big splash fun. Life is serious enough, and lockdown is really serious. So these next few days I’ll be on the lookout for more fun, within the confines of my house and 5km radius of course. Bring out the Uno, the musical statues, the toasted marshmallows. Any opportunity to bring the light in #morefun #justjump #youdoyou #selfawareness #lifelessons #selfcare #listenin #yogateacher #hathayoga #yinyogalove #vinyasayoga #slowflow #restorativeyoga #boroondaralife #boroondara #camberwell #surreyhills3127 #boxhillsouth #canterburyvictoria #melbournelovesyoga #melbourneyoga #yogamelbourne #melbourneeast #ilovemelbourne #melbournevictoria #movemindme

11.01.2022 This week I’ve really been feeling the need to open my heart a little wider. To give a little more to myself and to those around me. To worry less about possibility and focus on the what is. It’s been quite beautiful really. Sure, #lockdownlife is difficult, but so are other things I’ve been through. And the growth that came from them, eventually. Wow! If we all keep our hearts open a little longer, keep finding that love deep inside - and sharing it, the shared growth will b...e incredible. I know it hurts to open a little more, but the most rewarding things I’ve ever done have always been the most challenging. As I said to Michelle @_miss_spartan way back in March when we were questioning whether to run our first (and last until we can) outdoor yoga class. Still so much unknown, but so much to be grateful for. Can you open your heart a little more? DM me if you’d like to join me on screen next week and #openyourheart a little more. #openheart #sharethelovetoday #lifechallenges #rewards #onlineyoga #selfcare #gentleyoga #meditation #yogaforall #yinyogalove #vinyasaflow #slowflow #boroondaralife #boroondara #camberwell #surreyhills3127 #canterburyvictoria #melbournelovesyoga #melbourneyoga #yogamelbourne #melbourneeast #ilovemelbourne #melbournevictoria #movemindme

10.01.2022 Jasmine, oh how I love thee. This beautiful bush flows over a fence and into my local park. It’s a reason to pull my mask down and to drink in the glorious aroma. In many traditions it symbolises hope, happiness, and love. Just what we all need right now. What are some of your favourite fragrances that you come across in your neighbourhood? ... #jasmineflower #aromas #beautifulfragrance #myneighbourhood #onlineyoga #stayhome #selfcare #gentleyoga #movingmeditation #yoga4growth #yinyogalove #vinyasayoga #slowflow #boroondaralife #boroondara #camberwell #surreyhills3127 #boxhillsouth #canterburyvictoria #melbournelovesyoga #melbourneyoga #yogamelbourne #melbourneeast #ilovemelbourne #melbournevictoria #movemindme

09.01.2022 I have never been more grateful of my beautiful neighbourhood than when I’ve been limited to it for months on end. So right now . One of the challenging parts of the #melbournelockdown has been explaining to my children why we still can’t go to the city, or many of our favourite places really. Just this morning my five year old said as we crossed the road. Mum, I’d like to catch the tram to the city. Something we used to do regularly for all manner of adventures. I took ...the time to explain that we will be able to soon and how great it will be when we can. We talked about what we’d like to do, and see, and what might have changed. As the months drag on the learning, and teaching, opportunities grow. Sure we’ve all had moments of complaint and frustration, some lasting longer than others, but true appreciation for what lies within, I hope, will be long lasting. Within our city, our 5kms, our neighbourhood, our fence, our home, and our hearts. Beautiful views will always make my heart flutter. But the feeling I get when I close my eyes and feel that inner glow. That’s what makes it sing. Do you need a moment to listen in and feel the music inside? #listenin #beautifulview #localcommunity #yogateacher #onlineyoga #stayhome #selfcare #gentleyoga #movingmeditation #yoga4growth #yinyogalove #vinyasayoga #slowflow #boroondaralife #boroondara #camberwell #surreyhills3127 #boxhillsouth #canterburyvictoria #melbournelovesyoga #melbourneyoga #yogamelbourne #melbourneeast #ilovemelbourne #melbournevictoria #movemindme

09.01.2022 We’re all feeling a bit (a lot) overwhelmed by the magnitude of the situation in Melbourne right now. It feels like a lot. Because it is. It’s a lot for one person to deal with, let alone millions. And as much as we all want to predict the future, we really need to just keep taking it one day at a time. Breaking it down to smaller chunks and knowing that every morning the sun still rises. ... Sure you may not be fluent in Portuguese yet or have learnt how to play the violin (things that take a very long time - and lots of concentration and energy and focus - something many of us are lacking right now), but how’d you go putting on a load of washing? Did you eat breakfast, or get your hours exercise for the day? All things that can be ticked off in a day. (Ok washing, meh does it ever end?) but eating and getting moving. They’re feel good things, and so worth the effort. However you’re feeling, just take it slow. One day at a time. Who knows what day it is anyway? You’ve got this Melbs. #slowitdown #dowhatyoucan #selfcaredaily #deepbreaths #togetherwecan #gentleyoga #meditation #yogaforall #yinyogalove #slowflow #boroondaralife #boroondara #camberwell #surreyhills3127 #canterburyvictoria #melbournelovesyoga #melbourneyoga #yogamelbourne #melbourneeast #ilovemelbourne #melbournevictoria #movemindme

06.01.2022 As I continue to further my yogic studies I am so enjoying sharing my learnings through my classes. Delving deeper into Pranayama, Yin and Restorative practices is helping to keep my mind stimulated during months of restrictions and isolation. And I’m so grateful that I have the means to access these teachings. A point that doesn’t go unnoticed, as my city #melbournevictoria is thrown into disarray.... Thursday nights at 7pm I offer a Yin style class through @_miss_spartan that is accessible for all. Yep, FREE to anyone needing a chance to tap into themselves. To move gently and slowly, with love and understanding. If you’d like to join me, send me a DM and I’ll drop you the zoom code. No obligation if life gets in the way. But it might just be the time to yourself that you need at the moment. Go lightly, and with patience as we ride the waves together. #onedayatatime #connection #foreverlearning #freeyoga #onlineyoga #selfcare #gentleyoga #meditation #yogaforall #yinyogalove #timeforyou #communitylove #boroondaralife #boroondara #camberwell #surreyhills3127 #canterburyvictoria #melbournelovesyoga #melbourneyoga #yogamelbourne #melbourneeast #ilovemelbourne #movemindme

05.01.2022 How will you present your heart to the world today? The things presented to you in a yoga class . Thanks Australian Yoga Academy for the community yoga class this morning. And Discoyoga for bringing your love to the screen. So miss my Friday morning flow.... Love this pic my son took of me in January, right before he jumped over to join me and landed in the water . What a beautiful reminder to take in the moment. Gosh what I wouldn’t give to be back there right now. In the meantime, we find the sun and listen to our heart - heavy but open and patiently waiting until it’s safe to venture back. May you find some sun on this gorgeous spring day . #heartopen #yogaforall #yogacommunity #yogateacher #onlineyoga #stayhome #selfcare #vinyasaflow #communityyoga #movingmeditation #yoga4growth #yogamums #boroondaralife #boroondara #camberwell #surreyhills3127 #boxhillsouth #canterburyvictoria #melbournelovesyoga #melbourneyoga #yogamelbourne #melbourneeast #ilovemelbourne #melbournevictoria #movemindme

04.01.2022 Lately I’ve been finding my way again with my practice. Committing and exploring and allowing others to lead the way. It’s taken me to a place of questioning and searching. To explore my dharma, and the meaning behind my doing what I do. Which it seems was just what I needed. Because from discouragement has come so much love, and hope, and giving back.... This week exploring the Yamas and Niyamas, the simple messages behind the poses. Self love, softness, acceptance. Yoga really is such a gift. And to be able to offer the teachings of this gift to others. Wow. #yogalove #yogaforall #yogapractice #yogamelbourne #yogateacher #vinyasaflow #yinyogalove #hatha #camberwell #hawthorneast #surreyhills #canterburyvictoria #melbourneiloveyou #movemindme

03.01.2022 Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of being guided by Uma Spender Yoga through the last day of her beautiful breath course. It’s been the most incredible month watching the sun rise as she shared stories and enabled us all to grow our pranayama practice. And to be doing the course (online) with many others in lockdown here in Melbourne made it extra special.... Then to finish with a joyous sing along and connection through the screen. My heart was exploding. I learnt so much during this course, not only about practices and history but about myself. About the deep and rich traditions we all interpret in our own ways. And about the importance of having a reason for doing things, for doing everything. What is it in service to? I will be forever grateful to have found this treasure thanks to @that_beck. And to Dominique Australian Yoga Academy for lighting my spark of joy for pranayama. I do so miss yours and Breath Circle Beata’s Wednesday morning classes. Now to grow my daily practice .
