GROUPS| Today was the first day of our Ready, Steady, Prep! groups - check out the fun the kids in the groups got up to Here are some of the skills they practiced: Following school based routines... Sitting and listening during floor time activities Fine motor and pre-writing activities Working independently and taking turns in a group Gross motor play activities Managing lunch boxes and drink bottles independently during snack time Managing clothing and routines for toileting Our Ready, Steady, Prep! group program is a small group program run by an experienced OT and therapy assistant to help children prepare for what will be required of them in a Prep classroom. 20.01.2022 | HOLIDAY PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES | We are so excited to announce that we will be offering holiday activities and programs in January to help provide your children with opportunities to learn new skills or to extend upon the skills they have been learning in therapy. We believe that the purpose of coming to therapy is to help children to learn everyday life skills that can put to use to live their best life - and that is exactly what our holiday programs aim to offer - oppo...rtunity to practice their skills in fun, everyday life situations Here are our holiday activities and programs for January 2021: FINE MOTOR FUN: A program for 4-9 year olds or 10-15 year olds to practice their fine motor skills and social skills while completing set craft activities and a mini gardening activity TEN PIN TRIUMPH: Ten pin bowling to help practice gross motor skills, hand strength, coordination, turn taking, and everyday life skills such as paying for services, looking after your belongings, and managing shoes and shoe laces KIDS IN THE KITCHEN: An activity for 10-15 year olds to learn their way around a kitchen, and to practice kitchen skills and cooking skills SIBWORKS SIBLINGS PROGRAM: A two day program suitable for children aged approximately 7-13 years who have a sibling with a disability or chronic disease. These programs are open to enrolment for any child who is currently a client at Move and Play. However, the SIBWORKS program is open to any siblings in the Mackay Community. If you are interested in your child attending one of our holiday activities or programs, please make sure you contact our clinic ASAP because spots in these programs are strictly limited to ensure we can give our best support to the children attending.

19.01.2022 IMPORTANT COVID UPDATE With our clinic reopening on Monday, we would like to ask any clients or family members - if you have been to Victoria over the Christmas break (on or since the 21st December): ***Please ensure you get a COVID test and a negative result for that test BEFORE you attend any face to face appointments for your child***... We are able to change your appointment to a Telehealth video or phone appointment while you are waiting for your test result. We support several vulnerable children at our clinic, and cannot afford to expose them to any risk of COVID-19. We will be screening for travel to Victoria as part of our standard COVID appointment screening until the health department can assure us that this risk has passed.
