25.01.2022 Righty-o lovely people! We are BACK! Very exciting! (This photo only took me three takes by the way ... I hope you are impressed!) All services (individual sessions, group classes and walking group) are returning from Monday 23rd November. All our usual Covid-19 precautions apply ... but in addition ...... If you wish to wear a mask, you can. If you wish for me to wear a mask, I am happy to look dashing and like I will commit highway robbery. If you do not want to come back just yet, that is also totally fine. Just let me know what you need to feel safe and secure and we will endeavour to make that happen. Clients will probably be getting a call ... but feel free to just send me a text (0419 945 436) to let me know what you are keen for. Stay safe. Be kind. All the cool things.

25.01.2022 Have you checked out the Seaford Community Centre? They have an amazing range of programs including a gardening group, men's breakfast, walking groups, craft groups, FoodBank, a Justice of the Peace, yoga and so many other cool things! Head to their Facebook Page or to https://www.onkaparingacity.com///Seaford-Community-Centre for more information and to find a program or group that is right for you!

25.01.2022 A massive THANK YOU to all of our beautiful clients and supporters who have been so lovely and instrumental in our success this year!!! This drawing was an early concept of what the clinic would look like ... and I am so very proud of where we have come from and where we are now! Please believe me, I could not have done it without you! Your support means the world! Thanks a million! Meredith & co.

25.01.2022 Alrighty beautiful people! We are TEMPORARILY closing for the lockdown ... but we will be back just as soon as it is safe to do so! Stay tuned for updates on what services will start when and if there are any special requirements like wearing masks. If you would like a telehealth appointment ... we can certainly do that! Just prepare yourself for many tours of Meredith's backyard and worms along the way.... All clients affected will be contacted by phone for rescheduling or moving to telehealth. Please do not hesitate to call (0419 945 436) if you have questions or need something or just need a chat. We are here for you. Stay safe. Wash your hands. Wear a mask. We got this.

24.01.2022 Check out our Group Exercise Class timetable! We have morning and afternoon classes, as well as a FREE Walking Group! Classes are capped to a maximum of six participants, each with their own individually tailored program. We have a lovely community and sing-and-dance-a-longs to our music are highly encouraged! Feel free to give us a call on 0419 945 436 or pop into the clinic to have a chat ... or just turn up to Walking Group!... Looking forward to seeing you at the clinic soon! See more

23.01.2022 So many people are put off by the word 'exercise' ... or 'Exercise Physiology' for that matter. It is quite a scary sounding job title! Really, we help you to move. Find movement that suits your body, your brain, your time of life and that will help you to achieve your goals. See ... not so scary now, is it?

23.01.2022 Walking Group is BACK! We head off from the clinic (1-2/58 Cliff Ave, Port Noarlunga South) at 9:15am every Friday morning and walk along the esplanade. It is nice and flat, there are many places to stop if required and Meredith always stays with the slowest person. Looking forward to seeing you there!

23.01.2022 We love to help you get moving ... but we want to make sure we continue to do the best we possibly can! To help us improve our service and lovely clinic, please fill out our survey by clicking the link below! We want to hear what you REALLY think ... warts and all! We look forward to all your comments, suggestions and feedback! Meredith & Co. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FQ29PHZ

22.01.2022 Flinders University are undertaking an online program for youth between ages 13 - 25 years with body image concerns. If you or someone you love would like to participate in this confidential and free online program, head to https://mediasmart.flinders.edu.au/ for more information and to sign up.

22.01.2022 When you discover that your birthday buddy (Hannah is EXACTLY 50 years older than Meredith) and you are inversely colour co-ordinated!!! Now to get Hannah some red shoes so she can match Meredith's hair!

20.01.2022 A little bit of education for your Wednesday evening courtesy of HAES Australia. Weight stigma can be extremely detrimental in healthcare, resulting in people of differing sizes to not get the investigation, support or treatment they require for their conditions. But never fear! There are many healthcare providers who are 'weight-neutral' and will provide brilliant service to people of all shapes and sizes! I look forward to a day where this and all the other forms of stigma that are harmful in healthcare, and the world in general, are simply things written about in history books and looked at with scorn by schoolchildren everywhere.

20.01.2022 Happy Star Wars Day! We love to help get you moving and achieving your movement goals! Whether it's getting in or out of your X-Wing, improving your running and agility to dodge the Stormtroopers or improving your balance so you can stack various objects in a swamp using the force ... we have got you covered! Please feel free to pop into the clinic for a chat (phasers are to be left at the door, please) or send your droid with a hologram message so we can answer all your questions! May the force be with you!

20.01.2022 If you or someone you know is struggling with affording food at the moment ... the Food Bank truck is open TODAY at the Seaford Community Centre. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Stay safe.

15.01.2022 It is hard for me to write about diet culture without getting angry. I have started writing this a good half a dozen times ... but it always comes out really angry. Like, inappropriately angry. I hate its sneakiness. The way it has infiltrated into all walks of society. The way it grabs hold of you and doesn't let go. The way it promises you that everything will be better when you are this mythical future version of yourself and claims that you are not worthy of anything as ...you are now. That it tells you that you must be at war with your body and fight it every step of the way to 'transform' yourself into a version that is more acceptable and palatable to society. How it whispers to you in every magazine, every television show, every movie, every social media post, every unsolicited comment, every encounter with another person and every aspect of healthcare that you are simultaneously too much and then somehow also not enough. I hate it and what it does to my people. But I am trying to practice compassion. Compassion for those moving through this world with diet culture in their face. Compassion for those actively engaging in diet culture. Compassion for those who are putting so much of themselves into changing themselves to get those things that diet culture promises. Compassion for those who face much larger and fiercer burdens than myself. Compassion for those trying to change from diet culture but finding that the struggle is real. Compassion for those who have received substandard healthcare due to their size. Compassion for myself ... for not getting it right, for not always being happy with my body, for still wanting the things that diet culture promises, and for not always succeeding as being compassionate. I am so proud and grateful to provide a space where all of the bollocks is left at the door. I am so grateful to those who truly have fought tooth and nail so that doing my job is much easier. Many of these people are in marginalised groups and they have worked tirelessly to fight for their communities and for us all. I am grateful for my lovely community of Health At Every Size practitioners and to my beautiful friend for helping me find my place. And I am beyond grateful to my clients who continue to learn about diet culture, focus on their movement goals, work to be kind to themselves and strive to make my clinic a lovely place to move and to just be. If you would like to know more, I suggest starting with HAES Australia or ASDAH and checking out some of their resources. Particularly seek out work from those in the fat, trans, queer, disabled and BIPOC communities as they are the foundation of this amazing movement. Let's keep learning together. I hope that your day contained delicious food, joyful movement and zero guilt about either of them. Photo by the amazing The Mindful Dietitian

15.01.2022 Hello lovely people! My goodness what a day it has been! I have the latest on what is happening that will affect us in our beautiful clinic. At this stage we are OPEN and individual sessions are HAPPENING and Group Class is HAPPENING and Walking Group is HAPPENING. Which is all very exciting! This is because we are deemed an Allied Health Clinic, not a gym, and as such are an essential service that can stay open. Just in case you were wondering. The usual Covid-grade cleanin...g is happening (it never stopped) and hand sanitising when you arrive and when you touch your face or cough or sneeze etc. is still expected of you. As per usual, please do not attend the clinic if you have any cold/flu like symptoms, have been requested to self-isolate or quarantine, have been exposed to someone with Covid-19 or who is suspected to have Covid-19 or if you have been to any of the areas highlighted on the SA Health website. If you do not feel comfortable coming into the clinic, please let me know and we can organise a tele-health appointment or simply reschedule. Wash your hands. Stay safe. Stay strong. See you soon!

14.01.2022 YES! I freaking LOVE seeing movement and Exercise Physiology being championed! These women are kicking cancer's butt! It can feel like the last thing you want to do when faced with a cancer diagnosis ... but having a tailored movement program can help to stave off the effects of treatment and keep you fighting fit! Be sure to chat to your local Accredited Exercise Physiologist to find out how movement can help you (or a loved one) along your cancer journey. It doesn't matter if you have never done exercise before ... we are here to help you get started and keep moving!

14.01.2022 Our amazing clients Lance and Lyn are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this weekend! Certainly a reason to have delicious cake from Boy and Bloom South! Lance has been with us since before we were even in our clinic space (over five years) and Lyn has been a ray of sunshine in Group Class for three years. Just another short 45 years before they celebrate their 50th Move to Live anniversary! Congratulations lovely people! #couplegoals

13.01.2022 Time to take some time off! We are having a break here at Move to Live! We love seeing all your smiling faces and glorious movements ... but we also need some down time. The clinic will be open again from 11th January and we will be there ... bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready to help you move! We hope you all have a fantastic holiday season with lots of joy, sunshine (with sunscreen, of course) and delicious food. See you all soon!... Meredith & co. See more

10.01.2022 Woohoo! The clinic is OPEN and we are ready and rearing to go! We have immensely enjoyed our break, but we are back and ready to help you move! If you are keen for an appointment, be sure to get in touch on 0419 945 436 as we are booking up fast (a lovely problem to have)! Looking forward to seeing you all again soon! Meredith & Co.

10.01.2022 We have some beautiful new art in the clinic! This mandala was created by the lovely Hannah Rohrlach (@hannahrohrlachart on Instagram) specifically for our lovely clinic and was coloured in by yours truly during lockdown. #covidcolouring It represents the circle of concern (on the outside) and the circle of influence (on the inside). The circle of concern is everything that concerns or worries you in the world, while the circle of influence is those things that you have influence over and can actually do something about. It is a great way to focus yourself and your energy without getting overwhelmed. If you would like your own mandala to colour, just ask next time you are in the clinic!

08.01.2022 Hello movers and shakers! We have new directives from SA Health that everyone in Allied Health settings (practitioners, clients, staff etc.) needs to wear a disposable surgical mask. This is to protect our most vulnerable people and keep everyone safe. It is just for now ... but may need to happen again in the future. There are some exceptions. This does not apply to people with breathing difficulties, mental health conditions where this causes distress, people under 12 or ...the deaf and HoH community. Please aim to bring a mask to your next appointment or Group Class and feel free to contact us with any concerns. I found some at the supermarket without too much trouble this evening and I will have some spares if required. Thank you for your understanding and your support. Meredith See more

08.01.2022 Yesterday was the graduation ceremony of the 2019 SAYES Program! SAYES is the South Australian Young Entrepreneurs Scheme run by Business SA It runs for a year and participants receive training in different aspects of running a business as well as access to a mentorship program. I just completed SAYES, along with some other amazing peeps, and I am so excited about how it has helped Move to Live to become even more awesome. I know that this program has helped to improve my precious business and keep me engaged and enthused throughout the recent tough times! Thank you so much! #sayes

06.01.2022 You need to make time for the important things in life ... like keeping your mascot covid-safe ... Joy was very excited to be so fashion-forward!

05.01.2022 Look at all of these amazing achievements with movement our clients have made this year!!! I hope you are all very proud of yourselves ... I certainly am!

05.01.2022 This lovely group of people (including myself on the left) will be hanging out for the next six months for the "Leadership That Heals" program run by the City of Onkaparinga. We had our opening retreat at Lloyd Brothers Wine & Olive Company this week and learned about each other, ourselves and how to facilitate change through adaptive leadership! I am very excited about this program, but also wanted to let you know it is quite time intensive, so there may be some scooching of appointments over the next few months. I know it will all be worth it and this will help me in my life, business and to make positive changes in my local community. Thank you all so much for your support and patience. Meredith

04.01.2022 Onkaparinga Food Security Collaborative are running a morning tea where residents 65+ can come and provide insight about what they need and want in their community regarding food! YUM!

03.01.2022 Get it out of ya. #save3lives I am beyond privileged to be healthy enough to donate blood. So many people I love are not in such a position. So many people I love need this stuff. So many people I have loved needed it to spend more time with the people they loved before there was no more time left. If you are like me and fortunate enough to meet the criteria to #donateblood please consider doing so. You literally are saving lives. Head to http://www.donateblood.com.au/ to find out more and book an appointment.

02.01.2022 So often we decide that we are too old for things. That there is no point in starting. That it is all downhill from here. Just be put out to pasture and be done with it. Bollocks. Utter bollocks.... Do the thing. Make the thing. Be the thing. And if you can't, get someone to help you to be able to do those things ... or at least as damn close as you can get! Life is too short to spend a chunk of it wishing that you were doing the things and the stuff.

01.01.2022 Today I am going to show you some handy-dandy exercises to keep your fingers and wrists working well! What fine motor activities do you have trouble with? I can't wait to help you achieve your movement goals and get you back to your fabulous hobbies! Hope to see you in the clinic soon!
