24.01.2022 DM me for your free consult
22.01.2022 Jumping into the week good intentions! Who else is kicking off their Monday wanting to push themselves to be better than they were last week? With plenty of new sign ups before Christmas it’s important to remind everyone that’s starting now, or thinking of starting, that the beginning is the HARDEST part! I don’t sugar coat this for anyone. I remember the beginning(s) of my own journey and how intimidating the gym felt, how self-conscious I was about my bouncy body, h...ow light-headed I was after minimal cardio work, and how discouraged I felt when I didn’t see immediate results. It’s all a process but as your PT I will aim to make it a fun and maintainable one. You’ll watch an entire Netflix series even when the first episodes are slow just because someone told you it gets better - but what if you looked at your goals like that and watched your life get better instead? 18.01.2022 Will eating too much fruit make me gain weight? According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2018/2019), most Australians daily consumption of fruit was below the recommended two serves per day. So although you may feel like you’re eating a surplus of fruit, you’re likely eating a healthy amount. Despite the S-word (sugar ) giving fruit it’s bad reputation, fruits are a rich source of vitamins, minerals, potassium, and fibre. They also often contain phytochemicals... that have antioxidant properties. Just like all other foods, eating an excessive amount can lead to unpleasant side effects like weight gain. It’s important to eat a variety of foods to feel and preform your best. For example, no matter how much fruit you consume you likely won’t get a sufficient amount of zinc or iron. You’ll need to source these from other foods like meat, shellfish, legumes, etc. To conclude, you likely won’t eat too many calories from eating fruit leading to weight gain but it is important to incorporate other healthy, whole foods in your diet as well! Try to keep your fruit intake to two cups per day. #movewithmadi
17.01.2022 Bench Press Did you know that a bench press is about more than just working the chest? A large misconception about the chest press is that it ONLY builds the pec major (the muscle that makes your pecs look bigger, and is largely desired by men to achieve). The bench press is also great for toning up your triceps, a muscle that many people struggle to build. ... The tricep is made up of three heads and makes up roughly 2/3 of the arm. When you bench press it helps strengthen and build ALL THREE of the tricep heads (long, lateral, and medial). This, in turn, will have a great impact on your other push movements and will obviously make your arms look amazing! Great movement for all bodies with different goals! If you want to improve your bench press don’t hesitate to ask me for a hand in the gym #movewithmadi
11.01.2022 R E C O V E R Y I’ve been training really hard in the gym and not taking enough time to recover (leave it to me not to take my own advice ) And now I’ve been forced to take my THIRD day of rest as my body just isn’t able to work under so much stress. It’s important to remember that rest is ESSENTIAL for muscle growth. As we continue to lift weights we create microscopic tears in our muscle tissue. When we take time out to rest, cells called fibroblasts repair these tears an...d help the tissue heal and grow resulting in stronger muscles #movewithmadi
