24.01.2022 Happy Friday peeps

23.01.2022 Moving On Physiotherapy is 2 years old! I'm extremely proud of this little venture and all it is teaching me along the way. In that 2 years I've offered a broad range of treatments to all ages, including managing sprains and strains, casting fractures, gentle craniosacral and visceral release techniques for the more delicate problems, and even the occasional respiratory physio for people with airway problems. I've also kept my fees at the same value for money amount, and they... cover items like taping and resistance bands, stock that is in fact not cheap to maintain. Regrettably the cost of doing business is rising and as of 1st July 2019 there will be a small increase across all consultation fee levels to help meet these rising costs. Your understanding is very much appreciated and I will continue striving to deliver the quality of care that you deserve. Thanks for your support so far, I'm looking forward to another great year of Moving On!

22.01.2022 Easter Weekend hours!!! Moving On Physiotherapy will be CLOSED Good Friday and Easter Monday OPEN Easter Saturday... In case you strain something battling the Easter Show crowds, or smashing out that last minute egg shopping. Don't laugh, it happens! Moving On is also offering Physio Home Visits for people who truly are stuck with debilitating pain or injury and can't get into the clinic for a consultation. Appointments are subject to availability.

21.01.2022 Big 2 weekends coming up! Back in March I was booked on an Advanced Pelvic Floor course covering pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. Then.... hello COVID ... Some epic reorganisation from the instructor means I'll be doing the theory component of the course online over the next 2 weekends. So unfortunately it means I can't book appointments for the next 2 Saturdays. BUT....... The good news is I will, after this course, be properly trained in pessary fitting (the simpler ones at least), and if you're dealing with a prolapse, you'll know what this means And as always, I'm looking forward to being able to share new insights and helping you benefit from some top notch clinical training.

21.01.2022 I promised a birth announcement..... At precisely 39 weeks our not-so-little man decided to make an early break for it! So on Tuesday 19th June we welcomed baby Alfie Campbell into the world! He weighed in at a hefty 4.14kg (9lb, 2oz for the imperial people), measured 52.5cm long and had a whopping 39cm head girth!!! ... Future front rower? Possibly He has a very excited big sister, a proud dad and a puppy at home who doesn't know what's about to hit her! Mum and bub are both doing well and enjoying lots of cuddles. Stay tuned for details on who has you covered while Alfie keeps me on my toes for the next few months!

21.01.2022 Because we all need to unplug for a bit....... A quick break from proceedings so we can have some family time. I'll be out of the clinic from Saturday 1st June and back again on Wednesday 12th (Monday 10th is the public holiday). I apologise for any inconvenience. But don't forget you can still go online and book from the 12th onwards at www.movingonphysio.com.au, or even click on the booking button on this page

21.01.2022 Not only has it been a scary time lately but it's been pretty confusing as well. Who is an essential worker? How far apart do we have to be? We took a break over the last 2 weeks as we waited for more clarification on the role of Allied Health during the COVID19 pandemic. Now both Federal and State are indeed classing us as "essential workers". I'm sure we all agree some niggles can wait if we want to be extra cautious, or they can be managed without needing a "hands on" app...roach. But the thought of people struggling with pain and immobility from injury is a tough one to ignore! So the diary is back open. With a few tweaks to hours as we accommodate home schooling, and some rules that categorically must be followed if you attend the clinic in person: 1. Do not attend if you have travelled in the last 14 days, been in contact with anybody who has travelled in that time, or anybody with confirmed or suspected COVID19 2. Please where possible wait in your vehicle outside the surgery if you arrive early for your appointment. We are trying to keep the doctors waiting room as clear as possible 3. Please use the provided hand sanitizer both on your way in and out of your appointment 4. For patients whose treatment usually involves cranio-sacral or visceral manipulation techniques, there will be no release work performed on the face or inside the mouth until further notice. We share the space of Terrey Hills Family Surgery with other community members and both doctors and the visiting nurses treat the elderly residents next door at Terrey Hills Nursing Home. It is imperative that we do all we can to prevent any transmission of this virus here. Please notify me immediately if you start experiencing symptoms between booking and attending. We will in most cases be able to work something out. If you're one of those people struggling with your injury, and meet the above requirements, give me a call on 0402284619. Thanks for your understanding!

20.01.2022 We are living through some crazy times right now! By now most or all of you would be aware that NSW is expecting to be in lockdown within the next 48 hours. Any non-essential services are to pause for the duration of this lockdown. Unfortunately, private physiotherapy clinics fall into the "non-essential" category, so it's most likely our services will be put on hold for the duration. ... The good news though, is that we have the option of Telehealth consultations. There are actually few types of patients or injuries that we wouldn't consider appropriate for telehealth. It may surprise you to learn that much of our clinical reasoning is based on your answers to our questions, and tests that we don't always need to be *physically* present to perform. I'll be coming back with more information in the coming days on this Plan B option for your treatment. In the meantime, stay healthy and safe! Megan

19.01.2022 August is TRADIES NATIONAL HEALTH MONTH! How are you taking care of your health? Safe Work Australia statistics show that despite representing 30% of the workforce, almost 3/5 serious workplace injuries involve a Tradie.... If you have a niggle or an ache, get it looked at before it becomes a major pain! Moving On Physiotherapy is SIRA accredited. #choosephysio #tradieshealth

19.01.2022 WEEKEND SPORT The winter sport season is upon us!!! Whilst I'm so excited to see our 5yo play her very first soccer season, I'm also mindful of the many and varied injuries that can occur in ball and contact sports.... With that in mind, it's important to remember to get our bodies into reasonable shape to help avoid overuse injuries, and ensure an adequate warm up and cool down before and after games. If you're a weekend warrior, or are carrying any niggles into the season, make sure you see a physio to help manage the symptoms through increased activity, and get some exercises to build up strength and control in the muscles that need it. Take advantage of any match day physios to get any taping or ice packs you may need. Adolescents are especially prone to tendon problems with high levels of sport, mainly because of the growth spurts they go through. So if your tween or teen starts complaining about pain in the front of the knee, back of the heel or side of the foot, get them an ice pack and a physio appointment. We'll give them strategies to cope with flare ups and decrease the load going through those tendons, while their bodies are adjusting to those changes. Sprains and strains are almost a fact of life in sport. Don't ignore them. Even a seemingly minor ankle sprain can come back to haunt you years down the track if the strength and control isn't restored to the affected area. And if the unfortunate does happen and bones break, check if your local physio can apply a cast or boot to the injured area (pro-tip: physio's can refer you for X-Rays). It may save you many hours of waiting in emergency! If you think you need a check up to address or prevent an injury for the sports season, call 0402284619 for an appointment. Don't put it off!

19.01.2022 Tell me how you'd arrange the order of priorities below, when you visit a physio, especially on the first consultation. 1) Friendly & knowledgeable service 2) A diagnosis 3) Pain relief... 4) Self Management strategies (e.g. home exercises) 5) Education on how to keep the problem away See more

15.01.2022 I still can't decide whether this is more funny or creepy .....tell me what you think! Humour and weirdness aside though, the message is important. Many people suffer with constipation in silence, and whilst the reasons can be many and varied, a common one is simply not emptying completely or blocking off the stool due to our posture on the toilet. The straining involved in constipation is also a major risk factor for future urinary incontinence. Get your knees above your h...ips, and support your feet for a more relaxed bowel movement. If you're worried about constipation or any other pelvic issue, get in touch. p.s. did NOT expect my physio career to lead to poo!

14.01.2022 Good news! After ironing out a few little tech glitches (which probably none of you knew about anyway), online bookings are fixed and everything is linking up nicely Sooo...don't hesitate to get online at www.movingonphysio.com.au and make that booking! p.s. you can still call as well 0402284619... p.p.s got some bookings available tomorrow (Saturday) if anybody needs! See more

14.01.2022 Me at the end of a Pelvic Floor course But oh so much learning! Can't wait to put it all into practice https://tenor.com/XosB.gif

14.01.2022 If any of these apply to you, a physio can help 0402284619 or movingonphysio.com.au for an appointment

12.01.2022 OK, who ate alllll the eggs? I hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable Easter break. While you're taking some time out, why not get those pesky niggles sorted as well? Kids complaining already about soccer/netball/league pains? This is the perfect time to properly assess them, before they're back in full swing with the season. Appointments are available Wednesday and Saturday, call Megan on 0402284619, or email [email protected].

12.01.2022 Ladies! The message is clear. Be proactive with your pelvic health. If you've just had, or are expecting a baby, organise to get a post-partum check up with a Women's Health Physio from 6 weeks after birth. If you're already having that follow up with the OB, make the physio the second appointment. Chances are your OB or midwife is a) not going to do a comprehensive examination to check for prolapse unless you've already discussed some concerns with them, and b) highly unlike...ly to have the optimal strategies that we do for retraining the pelvic floor. If you're lucky they'll refer you on to a WH physio within their clinician network, but again, you'll probably need to ask. North Shore or Northern Beaches? Megan is a Women's Health Physio, and very passionate about helping mums return safely to physical activity after childbirth. Call or email Moving On Physiotherapy for an appointment if this article has you thinking about your post-baby pelvis!

11.01.2022 Them work from home feels

11.01.2022 Computer screen causing you problems? You need to read this! Go on, be honest. Which one in this picture is you? I'm sure many of us start out something like the person on the right but eventually we become the hunchback on the left! For the vast majority of computer users, NECK PAIN is the most common complaint, often accompanied by headache. Next on the list would be WRIST AND ARM PAIN from constant mouse use, and let's not forget DRY SORE EYES. I fear trying to address all... 3 complaints at once with genuinely helpful information will send you to sleep, so instead we're going to do a series on these common problems and what to do about them, in the above order. Click on the link below for this week's focus (pun intended), and stay tuned for some simple but awesome tips on neck pain tomorrow night. If you find them helpful, don't forget to tune in over the next 2 weeks for parts 2 and 3! Like what you see in our posts? Let us know what you'd like to learn more about. 10.01.2022 It's a little bit 11th hour, but I just want to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy & safe New Year. What can I say that hasn't already been said about 2020? It can't be over soon enough! Work certainly didn't finish as expected. It just....... finished At this stage, my plan is to be back on Saturday 9th January 2021. Given the earlier finish, if I can return sooner I will, and I'll keep you all updated. But of course in this uncertain period, it'll all... until further notice. The good news is I'll be back in clinic on Fridays from the start of February 2021, more details to follow. For now, please enjoy time with your loved ones and stay safe

09.01.2022 Sorry, couldn't help myself

08.01.2022 The office today

07.01.2022 Mr 9 months owns a few very cute pairs of baby shoes but has not yet worn any, and will probably only wear them occasionally for decoration. Big sister is also a barefoot bandit when it's safe. I could go on alllll day about the benefits of going barefoot, but I won't bore you Maybe I'll just blog a little about it instead. Stay tuned

07.01.2022 Happy 1st Birthday to Moving On Physiotherapy!!! It's been an exciting year of growth and connecting with the community, a continual learning curve helping people make the best recovery from their injuries. It's also nearly time for me to stop for a break to have my SECOND BABY! Mini Campbell #2 is due near the end of June (even though I look ready to drop any day ) and quite frankly, this mumma is pretty exhausted! But the good news is I will have 2 very talented physio... colleagues on hand to continue giving expert care during my absence. More details will follow on that very soon. I'll be finishing at the June long weekend, last day Saturday 9th June and all going well, I plan to be back on board within 6 months. I'll be very keen to get back into the job I love and in a wonderful supportive community. Thank you to those who have entrusted me with your care so far and if we haven't met yet, I look forward to helping you with your injury, or even just saying hi Oh and we promise an update when bub finally arrives!

07.01.2022 And the finale for our Computer series, Part 3: Eye dryness and fatigue. Not as obviously related to neck pain, but some interesting points that do actually tie in with our efforts to reduce neck pain. Be surprised.........and don't forget to like and share if you find it useful! Like what you see in our posts? Let us know what you'd like to learn more about. 06.01.2022 Is life bouncing you around? Book online if you're feeling a bit bumped and bruised

06.01.2022 I don't think any woman ever makes the decision lightly for a hysterectomy, but this certainly gives us something to think about, even if for simply managing the side effects. https://www.facebook.com/367116489976035/posts/2555849094436086/

06.01.2022 I have a confession. I've been sitting here wondering what the hell to post about first. As in clinical stuff. There are so many things I could talk about, I don't know which to start with. So I'm putting it to a vote and want you all to tell me what you want to know about most. What's the burning issue for you with pain or injury? Or even exercise and wellness? You don't have to be broken to ask for advice

05.01.2022 "period pain that stops you from doing your normal daily activities and cannot be managed with simple over-the-counter pain medication is not normal. It is not a part of being a woman".

04.01.2022 But hey, as long as the conversation is happening, right ladies? #choosephysio #pelvichealth

04.01.2022 You've been waiting for this one, haven't you? Here it is, Part 2 of the Computer Series, Wrist and Arm Pain. 04.01.2022 A shout out to the lovely team at Pilates Physio Style in Brookvale! Sarah and Lorraine you are helping me put this battered ol' body back together after it went through the wringer over the last 5 years! I feel stronger every week If you've had injuries or major surgery, or just don't feel like you've got a "core", think about trying Pilates. When a guru like Sarah teaches you, those muscles just switch on! It's especially helpful for recovery from back or neck strains, ch...ildbirth (before as well) and it can get you into tip top shape to help prevent injuries. Great for body, mind and soul! Pro tip though: if you have had a recent injury or a history of problems, it's advisable to try Pilates with a physiotherapist first, to ensure any potential problems are picked up and not exacerbated by the exercises.
