15.01.2022 Bit of a delayed post but thanking everyone who dropped by and paid us a visit at The Rose Street Artists Market! Being an online store I don’t get to see people’s reactions to my candles first hand, so this is my favourite thing about selling in person. I do try to casually look away so I’m not staring someone down but really I just want to be like WHAT DO YOU THINK DO YOU LIKE IT?? The real catch is actually stopping myself from buying everything at other stalls! I wa...s blown away at how supportive all the stall holders were, it was like a little community. We’re all in it for the same reason, just trying to share the crafts we made and love with the world. I also managed to do some sneaky product swaps too with a talented few craft for craft. The Rose Street Market in particular is great in that they screen all applicants to ensure no one product is saturated. I was there with 2 other candle stalls but all directed at different target markets. I must admit it was fun chatting away with someone just as obsessed with the technicalities of candles as I am. Watch this space for more marker appearances to come! And yes Tom is wearing the exact same top he wore at the last market, he’s calling it his uniform to match the theme...

14.01.2022 We are constantly looking for ways to optimise our packaging to be as eco friendly as possible, and appreciate suggestions given by our green customers It’s so good to know people care Recently we introduced our Aluminium Lids and will be phasing out our plastic ones, here’s a few reasons why you should choose them Anything made of aluminium can be recycled repeatedly not only cans, but aluminium foil, food trays, window frames, automotive components, candle lids .... All can be melted down and used to make the same (or other) products again. Recycling one tonne of aluminium saves the carbon dioxide emissions of driving nearly 27,000 miles. Recycling aluminium takes 95% less energy than producing it from its raw materials. The recycling process also generates only 5% of the greenhouse gas emissions. What happens to the aluminium lids when you put them out for recycling Step 1 - Separation Trucks take the recycling to a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) where it is pushed on to a conveyor belt. Aluminium is a metal that doesn’t contain iron, so it isn’t magnetic. An ‘eddy current’ is used to induce a magnetic effect in the lids, and they are magnetically lifted from the other recycling items. Step 2 Baling The lids, cans and other aluminium products are squashed into big blocks called bales and transported to processing plants where they are fed into furnaces. Step 3 Melting Heating the aluminium to a temperature of 700C changes it into a liquid state. It is then cast into ingots, ready for delivery to rolling mills where they are milled and remade into new products. DID YOU KNOW? Once an aluminium can is recycled, it’s back on the grocery shelf within 60 days, as a new aluminium can. Australia has a high rate of aluminium can recycling we are 5th in the World recycling 70% of our cans. 13.01.2022 These colours @julietteclaire_d -... One of my OG scents! I am so sad I’ve had to temporarily (I hope) remove this range from my website. I’ve had so many people asking for this back but unfortunately I’m not sure when it will return. The candle fragrance industry has sadly been struck hard with COVID resulting in a worldwide shortage of raw ingredients. I remember when I was first testing fragrances for my core range, I could walk into a supplier’s showroom and smell 100s of different fragrances, all of which were available for me to choose freely. The past few months have been shocking. Almost all Australian fragrance suppliers have been drip feeding stock and it has been a battle to get the ingredients and supplies we need. It’s a tough landscape but the Australian candle community is also the best community Throughout my journey I’ve been in touch with so many other chandlers exchanging tips, learnings and advice. I’ve spent hours doing impromptu candle pouring lessons with the owner of one of Australia’s largest wax and fragrance suppliers and the patience he’s given me is everything. I really never expected there would be so much to learn and so many technicalities to test in order to nail the perfect pour and set. This is the most science I’ve done since I dropped it in year 9 I’ll never look at candles the same way as I did 6 months ago, I’ll tell you that much! The amount of half burnt testers lying around my house is also starting to be a concern Thanks for being a part of my journey and making it all worth it!
