17.01.2022 Cattle on Auctions Plus sold post auction for $2000 per head. Reserve was $1980. They will be picked up on Wednesday as the temperatures here for the next two days will be over 38C

15.01.2022 I posted the bottom photo last October when this July drop 2016 Heifer MPS 1251 was found with the live calf at foot. The calf was born on 17/10/17. This photo ...and details were posted on my Facebook page. The top photo was taken today of the same heifer, now 25 months old with a female calf at foot born this morning. We saw it first when I took the photo. The first calf was weaned in May and will be sold soon as it is a steer. So this very fertile heifer has now picked up 5 weeks in days to calving. She also is about the same size as her peers who now have all had calves. Fertility is not an issue nor is calving ease with my Red Polls and if you look at the performance record of any of my cattle they are in the top 10% for all traits. In other words I don’t compromise my growth traits to achieve this level of fertility. This is achieved by putting your heifers under pressure in the early days of your breeding program by mating them to your best stud bull an culling all that don’t measure up. I would have posted my show results earlier but had to leave the show before I could enjoy my success due to influenza. It was my very last Royal Adelaide show as Kay and I are not as young as we were. We will still breed and sell seed stock. Our show results were Junior and Grand Champion Female, Junior and Senior and G rams Champion Bull. And we were the most successful exhibitor. See more

14.01.2022 Congratulation to the Booleroo Area School who exhibited a Moyle ParkRed Poll steer in the Adelaide Show steer Carcase competition. This Carcase was 4 out of 29... in the light domestic class. It was not quite12 months old, weighed 434kgs live weight and 242.8 HSCW with an eye muscle of 90 sq cms and scored 85.21 points. The winner scored 88.04 points. It didn’t have as big an eye muscle as the Red Poll but made up the extra points on imf. As usual this steer was completely overlooked on the hoof. The cattle industry does not have a handle on muscling. It is common belief you need a well sprung rib and a butt profile. So why do our Red Polls always confuse the experts? See more

09.01.2022 This is the current temperature in Celsius on my patio at 2.30pm Thursday 24th January. We are OK inside with airconditioning and the cattle have shown no sign ...of distress. They will still head out from the shade when it is their usual time to feed. I do check the waters morning and night and they have lots of shade if they need it. They keep putting on weight on my dry pasture which is so good this year due to the low yield through lack of rain and my lucerne rebounds after each grazing. It is a hardy plant. See more

07.01.2022 These bulls were photographed on 10/1/18 and will be for sale at my field day on Friday, 2/2/17. They all have breedplan data which can be viewed by entering th...eir tattoo number into the search facility in the animal search link on the Australian Red Poll Cattle Breeders Inc webpage. MPS 1234,1235,1240 are by MP Zepplin and 22 months old. MPS 1249 is by Yongerellen Zenith, 17 months old and still in the process of learning to walk under halter. MPS 1264 is by MP Pontiac and 16 months. This last bull has the best scan for ema. All our cattle will be on display on the day but we welcome visits at anytime by arrangement. All the bulls except MPS 1264 are $4400 including GST. MPS 1264 is up for negotiation. I have 4yearling bulls by MP Pontiac and one by Oakwood Bovine Builderand a recent addition from Murray Williams, Yongerellen Premier on display.
