22.01.2022 Bupa ANZ Chief Information Officer, Sami Yalavac has been named as Australia’s 15th most outstanding technology leader in the CIO50 2020, a globally respected list which celebrates the achievements of Australia's top 50 senior technology and digital executives. ------- Some of the major achievements Sami oversaw over the past year include the mobilisation of more than 4,000 office and call centre employees to remote working environments within two weeks of the companies’ COVI...D-19 workplace closures. Bupa’s Technology team also developed solutions that enabled the servicing of customers across Apple Business Chat, Interactive Voice Response, WhatsApp and 2Way SMS. These tools gave busy customers the ability to communicate with a real person wherever they choose and enjoy the same level of expertise and options they would receive over the phone or in-store. Bupa ANZ Chief Information Officer, Sami Yalavac said these achievements were made possible as a result of ongoing investments into remote digital technologies that predate the pandemic.

08.01.2022 Two billionaire Muslim brothers from Blackburn have bought the supermarket chain Asda from U.S. company Walmart in a 6.8bn deal. A consortium of Zuber and Mohsin Issa and private equity firm TDR Capital will take a majority stake in Asda. The Issa brothers own EG Group, which has more than 5,200 petrol stations across the UK and Europe.... 06.01.2022 Ever since I was really young I have always had a really strong love for justice. I wanted to be a lawyer since I was in grade 3, I have a little paper from bac...k then that says When I grow up I want to be an author and a lawyer. My journey to becoming a Lawyer has been a rather emotional one, I graduated from high school and went straight to university studying a Bachelor of Arts major in Journalism and a Bachelor of Laws. At the beginning of the degree I was determined to complete the 5 year course in 3 years. However my little brother was diagnosed with cancer and my studies immediately became second priority. It took me 6 years in total to complete my degree with many nights studying for exams in my brother’s hospital room. After finishing my undergraduate degree I studied my Graduate Diploma and was admitted as a lawyer in June this year. I started working at Dennaoui Lawyers while in my last year of my undergraduate degree as a paralegal and am now working there as a solicitor. Along the way I co-founded a not for profit organisation called Podium Productions for Muslim youth; I also have participated in numerous social justice advocacy campaigns fighting for international human rights across the board. 04.01.2022 Tasnia hasn’t yet met her colleagues in real life and wonders how they also might judge her differently when they meet for the first time. As a Muslim woman who wears the hijab, I sometimes don’t wear it when I’m having calls with female colleagues, she explains. This is something I wouldn’t be able to do if I was in the office with men passing by constantly. The privacy was a nice change but I can imagine when I’m in the office my female colleagues will still have that image of me without my hijab in their heads. This isn’t nerve wracking, just odd.
