24.01.2022 New face-to-face training venue of MPL Training Centre in Sydney - Rydges Parramatta. We strive for excellence in pest management training. The year of 2021 will be very different in many ways.

23.01.2022 Termites are resistant to the effects of fire at multiple spatial scales. Termites appear to be buffered from the effects of fire by behavioural traits.

19.01.2022 Jewel Beetle - Calodema regalis is one of the most beautiful Australian insects! This species occurs in rainforests from northern NSW to northern QLD. It lives in the forest canopy where it feeds on numerous types of flowers!

18.01.2022 Male Stag Beetles use their jaws (mandibles) to wrestle with other male Stag Beetles, especially when a female is nearby or they have stepped into someone else's territory. So many fascinating stories about insects need to be unveiled.

14.01.2022 Another beautiful jewel beetle that I really like - Temognatha fortnumii. This species was named by Hope 1843 in honour of a Mr Fortnum who collected the type material in Adelaide. Hope 1845 specifically notes: ‘The above insect was taken at the new settlement named Adelaide'. Tepper 1887 describes it as 'a rare species, being extremely shy and swift flying'. Bugs are an important part of human’s history!

11.01.2022 EcoGlobal Termite Doctor reported a drywood termite (Cryptotermes brevis) infestation to Qld Biosecurity in December 2019. Finally, the fumigation is underway today and tomorrow. Plenty of pictures will show MPL students the treatment procedure during the timber pest management training course.

10.01.2022 Mock Motel of MPL Training Centre in Qld is ready for practical training program of bed bugs. We are serous about practical training and assessment in pest management.

08.01.2022 Adding to more modern equipment for our pest management training, Qld Branch of MPL Training has set up an advanced Dino Lite microscope. To increase the uniformity of our training resources, we will take action in 2021 to set up similar facilities in NSW. Unlike other training programs, looking, touching and feeling are essential for pest management training.

05.01.2022 Only 6 species of Rhipiceridae have been reported in Australia and they all belong to the genus Rhipicera. Little is known about their biology and habitats. They are believed to be parasites of Cicada larvae. Look at the over-sized fan-like antennae! (much larger and more pronounced in males than females).
