19.01.2022 Those who know me know ZUU is a big part of all my workouts. Not only are the movements designed for increased mobility and cardio conditioning, they also assist with injury prevention. 17.01.2022 I ALWAYS make time for my own training each day, and given the current climate, pairing with a friend makes it a time to continue to connect and create a sense of community... and this little powerhouse certainly gave me a run for my money today! GO TAIT Taking my training exclusively outdoors these last few weeks has been a true blessing and privilege. I have found it to be the one time I can truly put aside all the current concerns and focus on my own mental and physical health. Don't underestimate the benefits of moving your body and keeping physically active during these challenging times of lockdown. There is a reason that the government has specifically allowed physical activity as an ESSENTIAL SERVICE to leave the house. Stay active, stay connected, and keep well.
15.01.2022 Being physically active and limiting our sedentary behavior every day is ESSENTIAL for our health and well-being. Physical inactivity is the SECOND GREATEST contributor (behind tobacco smoking) to the cancer burden in Australia. As a fitness coach, I am constantly reminded of how not putting your health as a priority can have catastrophic effects on your ability just to move about your daily activities. MOBILITY and RANGE OF MOVEMENT exercises MUST be something that ...is a daily habit. Small improvements now can lead to HUGE benefits later in life. Who wants to be the 65 year old, that has to walk assisted .. or the one not being able to kick the footy or run after and play with your grandchildren. Test yourself today: Can you easily get up and down off the floor 3 times (chest to floor to full standing position) with ease? Can you do at least one full push up on your toes (chest to floor)? Can you hold the plank position for more than 30 seconds? Can you jog 1km with ease? If you answered no to any of these... you need to start taking some action! 13.01.2022 It is more important now more than ever to continue to look after our physical and mental health during this challenging time With gym and sporting venue closures, there is now a huge influx of the population that will need to access ways to keep moving and stay healthy. So I am pleased to advise that at this stage IT IS STILL SAFE TO TRAIN/EXERCISE OUTDOORS observing the 1.5m social distancing. As a member of Fitness Australia, I received the following advice ...and guidance from their CEO Barrie Elvish: Australians it is still safe to exercise outdoors provided social distancing measures were in place. Moving your regular training sessions outside will ensure you can still keep your regular routine while protecting yourself during this time, Mr Elvish said. People are still encouraged to train with their trainer outside. If your trainer is registered with Fitness Australia then they adhere to the relevant guidelines to ensure the safe delivery of outdoor training sessions, Mr Elvish said. I personally have taken every precaution to keep my clients safe and protected throughout each session by taking the following measures: There will be 15 minutes between sessions to allow for me to wipe down and disinfect any equipment. Every client has their very own (sanitised) workout band which is individually ziplock bagged and labeled with their name which THEY will have contact with at each session. I will have hand sanitiser and water/soap/paper towels to assist in continual hand hygiene throughout the session. We will be observing the 1.5m social distance throughout the session. We have to just make the most out of our situation as we are all in this together. Still find joy in simple things, keep smiling, laughing, and connecting with each other to help get through this challenging time!

02.01.2022 TRUTH BOMB Feeling motivated Is a transient feeling Everyone who starts an exercise program at the beginning is motivated - that's why they start. ... They are motivated, they are inspired and they are in the zone. Everyone who starts INTENDS to do it consistently, but the reality is VERY FEW end up doing it consistently over time. This is why only 15% of people who join a gym end up actually going! So the TRUTH is, it’s not about being or feeling motivated it’s trying to figure out what are the variables in your life that will sabotage or hinder you when you aren’t feeling motivated, and then being able to stick to any new habits when presented with these obstacles or simply those times WHEN YOU CAN’T BE STUFFED. The key is to change our DEFAULT SETTING. Any change has to be your new NORMAL. For me personally, training and exercise is a part of my default. Just like having a shower. I don’t think about it - I just do it pretty much on a daily basis. This could be strength training, a 30km bike ride, or even a morning hill walk. I just do SOMETHING consistently EVERY DAY. It is never too late to RE-WIRE your settings whatever new habit" you want to implement losing weight, moving better, getting stronger, making healthier eating choices. All we need to do is get out of our comfort zone and take consistent action over time. PHOTO CREDIT... yes this is me... this is the DIRECT result of CONSISTENCY over time... even though I don't particularly like posting photos of myself (always been very self-conscious and critical)... I want to show EVERYONE what is possible - even in an almost 50 year old body! No crazy diet, no crazy exercise regime... just consistency, and self love

What this means is that essentially everything around us and everything we are experiencing in our own life, is a story that WE create within our head based on our interpretation of the events that happen relevant to our beliefs and past experiences. ... Life happens to us and around us, and we are unconsciously constantly telling ourself stories about what things mean. For example there may be some people reading this post now saying this is boring so your LITERAL experience is then boredom. If someone else reading this post thinks this is kind of fascinating, then their LITERAL experience is fascination. This is how powerful your stories are... you will experience EXACTLY what story you tell yourself. Each day we all have the power to choose to create a better life by creating better stories about the events that happen around us. The happiest people on this earth are not the richest, smartest or most successful... they are the people that make the decision to be happy every day regardless of the events that happen around them.
