24.01.2022 Another few days of heat are forecast for many areas. Here's what you can do: Put water out for wildlife ... You can find further information at https://www.wires.org.au//wildlife-fact/water-for-wildlife Check pools, including skimmer boxes regularly in case animals seeking water have fallen in. Provide a means of escape from the pools. In areas fires have been or are still active keep a box in your vehicle with a cotton pillowcase and a shallow dish and water bottle to offer water to animals who may have fled the fires If you find an animal with burns or other injuries please call WIRES where possible take to the nearest vet immediately. Wrap loosely in 100% cotton fabric, handle as little as possible. Many flying-fox colonies over recent months have been severely impacted by a combination of starvation and heat. Please remember to NEVER touch a bat. If you see a bat of flying-fox on the ground please do not approach but provide shade gently mist intermittently and call WIRES 1300 094 737. 18.01.2022 FEEL GOOD STORY MONDAY Last week our team were able to help out this cute little guy Grungle and his devoted owner. After lots of back and forth trying to find the right equipment, Grungle was able to be brought home on Friday after spending a few days being cared for at Lort Smith Animal Hospital & Animal Emergencies. We received an update this morning saying that Grungle has made a lot of progress over the weekend and seems a lot like his normal happy self.... Grungle and his owner Freddy were extremely grateful to our wonderful team for putting in the extra effort to help them out in a time of need. Well done team!
