23.01.2022 In my time working with NDIS I have helped many families and individuals fill out an Access Request Form or ARF. I know from this experience this can be a very daunting process and it can feel like its very complicated. I have found this great little resource from the Summer Foundation that can help step you through the process. If your child is 0-6 then your Early Childhood Coordinator will help you to complete the form and to gather the evidence. If you are 7 and up then yo...u can still ask for support from your local NDIS Partner in the Community to help you. The one thing to make sure that you consent for your details to be checked by Centrelink and also to make sure that all of your details with these services are up to date or this may cause delays in the Access Decision. Please feel free to share :-) https://www.summerfoundation.org.au/resources/ndis-arf/

18.01.2022 I've ordered some business cards care of Vistaprin. They are very reasonably priced and will be good to have to start with. I'll now be waiting for them to come in the mail ready to start networking and collaborating.
16.01.2022 Over the next two weeks the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be holding some information sessions in Launceston at the Launceston Conference Centre. This is a great opportunity if you are just beginning the NDIS Journey for information on the process and to find out how it all works. https://www.facebook.com/events/376969603253691/
14.01.2022 The NDIS website really does have everything that you will ever need to know about the scheme. But you know what one thing that is hard is finding what you need and I know this from personal experience from supporting people navigate it all. When something changes then this can throw you out completely. Or it can be overwhelming and frustrating (I know this feeling well)! With information that I provide I will always try to link it back to the website and help you navigate where you need to find certain information. Please comment below if there is anything in particular you would like to know more about. https://www.ndis.gov.au/
13.01.2022 Yesterday I attended a Xero small business event to help with my understanding and to build my knowledge on what I may need to do and also for ideas to help me along the way. Most of it was not relevant for me at this point in time but I did get a lot out of a the session with The Van Diemen Project. The main key points I came out of it was Think Big..Start Small and to have a business plan. These are definitely the two things that I am working on currently to evolve my little venture.
12.01.2022 I have an extensive 17 years experience in the community services sector mostly being in disability and early intervention. I worked for nine years with one organisation and have worked in state disability Local Area Coordination, NDIS Local Area Coordination and most recently I was an NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention Coordinator. I am hoping to bring some independent knowledge of NDIS and the Community Sector to help you better understand what is available in the comm...unity, how things work within NDIS with my own personal perspective and share resources that may help your understanding of how it all works or how you can make it work for you. I am currently not being paid and I am hoping to look at providing some services in the future but at this point in time I am doing this in my own free time and am not being paid or sponsored. I am also not associated with any company or organisation and plan on remaining independent. As you can understand if at some point I am sponsored or paid I will disclose this within the post. If you have any topics or questions you would like me to cover please feel free to send them to me and I will try to cover them. I will not be able to answer everyone questions individually but will endeavour to research and write about them for everyone to see. This is a page for information and resources and I will not be projecting any negativity or accepting any comments that are of this nature. I will however acknowledge frustrations of experiences and hopefully provide with solutions or ideas of problem solving. Hopefully I can share my experience and knowledge with you to help build your capacity and understanding to help you or your family with the support journey.
09.01.2022 On the 28th of August The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be holding some information sessions in Burnie at the Burnie Arts and Function Centre. This is a great opportunity if you are just beginning the NDIS Journey for information on the process and to find out how it all works. https://www.facebook.com/events/739158459874072/
06.01.2022 Today I have had my approval for the HireUp platform as a support worker. I have decided to start with working this way in the beginning as it connects you directly with the person requiring support and also while I am figuring out what I will need to do to register with NDIS and sort out insurances ect. HireUp take care of all of the wages, tax, super and insurances which can take the stress off of the person requiring support. You connect with the support worker through th...e platform and go from there. If you already know people that you want to hire then you can ask them to register with HireUp. HireUp are an NDIS registered Service Provider so if your funding is NDIS managed then they can make the claims for you. You can also use the service if your plan or self-managed. Please feel free to message me if you would be interested in support or how HireUp works. **Please note I am not being paid or sponsored by HireUp for this post** https://hireup.com.au
