25.01.2022 Fit out of the 12.5m Naiad for Marine Rescue Botany Port Hacking (BH30) is motoring along nicely with launch day just around the corner !
25.01.2022 A crew from Marine Rescue Botany Port Hacking has joined the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service in an operation to try to free an entangled whale off Sydne...ys Royal National Park. The crew of Port Hacking 30 is on scene about 300 metres off Wattamolla, south of Port Hacking, with NPWS and NSW Maritime vessels. The whale is believed to be anchored to the seabed, possibly by fishing debris, but is still alive and breathing. The crew of PH 30, Unit Commander Noel Parkinson, Jeff OBrien and Greater Sydney Regional Operations Manager Glenn Evans, will provide all possible support to the National Parks personnel in a bid to free this giant of the deep.
24.01.2022 Our coastline was battered by large and powerful swells today and we are expecting more of the same over the next few days. A Hazardous Surf Warning remains in place for Thursday 16 July for the Byron Coast, Coffs Coast, Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast, Illawarra Coast, Batemans Coast and Eden Coast. NSW Police Force, Marine Area Command advise that:... People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas. Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf. Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage. Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket. Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base, via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management plan. 23.01.2022 BH31 is currently towing a PWC back to safety after a father and son run into difficulties on Botany Bay. With summer like conditions, numerous vessels are out on our local waterways, enjoying a day on the water. Please remember to Log On and Off with our radio base, using your VHF Marine Radio or the MRNSW App.

22.01.2022 BH31 is assisting another vessel after it ran out of fuel just short of the boat ramp late this afternoon. It caps off a very busy day for or vessel and radio teams as we support boaters on local waterways.
22.01.2022 The Marine Rescue Botany Port Hacking radio base received a Pan Pan call for urgent help from a solo boater broken down about 25nm offshore this morning. At the... same time, the base was contacted by the Marine Area Command - NSW Police Force at Sans Souci, requesting help for a vessel stranded closer to shore, south of Marley in the Royal National Park. A unit crew departed on board rescue vessel Port Hacking 30 for Marley, returning the boat to Port Hacking, while the radio base kept contact with the solo boater far offshore, tracking his vessels drift. Although the boater had activated flares and deployed his V sheet to draw attention to his plight, this was to no avail until a boater on another vessel, TuMeke, overhead him talking to the radio base on his marine radio and came to his aid in a show of community spirit. TuMeke took the boat under tow, saving rescuers hours in journey time and providing comfort for the stranded boater, until the two vessels rendezvoused with a Police vessel, which took over the tow back to Port Hacking. The days operations were a great show of cooperation between Marine Rescue NSW volunteers, Water Police and a member of our boating community, ensuring everyone made it safely back to shore.

12.01.2022 Two kayakers have been rescued in a major air and sea search operation launched after the pair was blown out to sea off the southern Sydney coastline. The two k...ayakers set out from Boat Harbour at the northern end of the Cronulla beach but were pushed 5nm offshore by the wind, swell and tide. Two crews from Marine Rescue Botany Port Hacking, on board Port Hacking 30 and Botany 30, began searching in rough seas with a 2-3m southerly swell and 20 knot winds, along with a Marine Area Command - NSW Police Force vessel. The kayakers were spotted clinging to their upturned hull by the Westpac Life Saver Rescue helicopter and taken on board the Police vessel to be transported back to shore. A great result, again demonstrating the seamless operations of our emergency services working together to save lives. Photo: Botany 30 searches for the kayakers. 08.01.2022 Today we received a new AirBerth Boat Lifts Air Berth for the storage of auxiliary vessel X22. As site access at the Hungry Point location in Cronulla was too steep for the truck delivering the Air Berth, it was lowered into the water at Wally's Wharf at Dolans Point before being towed to its new home by X22. As you can see from the expressions on the faces of Regional Operations Manager Glenn Evans and Assistant Director Training and Education Brad Whittaker, they were pretty happy to see the new berth arrive.
