24.01.2022 ON THE BENCH: Re-fret on a maple strat-style neck.This one also got a fretboard re-radius. Taken down from 14" to 12". I'll get this cleaned up and re-fretted, then finished with a satin poly. Once reunited with its body... it'll be ROCKIN'!!!

17.01.2022 Brand new FENDER Player Series Strat (lefty) ON THE BENCH for a set-up... This is the first one of the Player Series I've seen up close & personal, and my overall impressions are very positive. I think Fender has lifted the bar even higher than before on this recent Mexican-Made series. The two stand out improvements IMO, are the alnico pole pickups and the 2-point vibrato. The fit & finish of this strat is very good and the inclusion of the "bridge tone mod" is one less thing that needs doing. (they should have been doing this 60 years ago!) The factory set-up was a bit ordinary but I got this lowered by over 30% on the string action and 50% at the nut with no fret work! Great improvement on playability. (yes, that's a word!)

06.01.2022 Meet my apprentice Cinder (always hard at work). Apart from her regular duties, she fulfils the role of MRC Guitarworks mascot as well. As you can also see, the workshop doubles as [rubber] chook shed.
