JOB OVERVIEW: The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintaining, and testing of electrical equipment in particular Solar PV Systems in line with the relevant Australian standards and in line with company policies and procedures.... RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION: -Install photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with codes and standards using drawings, schematics, and instructions. -Assemble solar modules, panels, or support structures, as specified. -Apply weather sealing to array, building, or support mechanisms. -Perform routine photovoltaic (PV) system maintenance on modules, arrays, batteries, power conditioning equipment, safety systems, structural systems, weather sealing, or balance of systems equipment. -Activate photovoltaic (PV) systems to verify system functionality and conformity to performance expectations. -Check electrical installation for proper wiring, polarity, grounding, or integrity of terminations. -Interpret and understanding diagram layouts and locations for photovoltaic (PV) arrays and equipment, including existing building or site features. -Examine designs to determine current requirements for all parts of the photovoltaic (PV) system electrical circuit. Identify and resolve any deficiencies in photovoltaic (PV) system installation or materials. -Identify electrical, environmental, and safety hazards associated with photovoltaic (PV) installations. Identify installation locations with proper orientation, area, solar access, or structural integrity for photovoltaic (PV) arrays. -Select installation equipment that conforms to environmental, architectural, structural, site, and code requirements. -Test operating voltages to ensure operation within acceptable limits for power conditioning equipment, such as inverters and controllers. -Visually inspect and test photovoltaic (PV) modules or systems. -Determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation efficiency. ESSENTIALS: -Minimum +3 years experience in Solar PV installations and an ability to work unsupervised -CEC Install Accreditation -A Grade Electrical Licence -Current C class driver’s licence -White Card (construction site card) -LVR & CPR Qualification -Working knowledge and practical application relevant (latest editions) Statutory Requirements, State Legislation, Australian Standards, and Site Requirements. 09.01.2022 Tuesday History Did you know that in 1882, a demonstration of what electricity could do was conducted with eight arc lights along Queen Street in Brisbane, the capital and largest city in Queensland. Power was supplied by a 10 hp generator driven by a small engine in a foundry in Adelaide Street. This was Australia's first recorded use of electricity for public purposes. The first practical use of electricity was for lighting in the Government Printing Office in George Str...eet in April 1883. In 1886, the Roma Street Railway Yards were using arc lights, and in the same year, an underground cable connected the Parliament House from the Printing Office, the first of any Parliament House in Australia.The supervision of the laying of cable was done by E.C. Barton, who formed a company with C.F. White and in 1888 built a power house in Edison Lane behind the General Post Office. The General Post Office became the first consumer of electricity in Australia and Barton and White the first electricity supplier in Australia.
