21.01.2022 Football Development Opportunities within the Mackay Region with MCU: YOUTH - 13(2008 borns), 14 (2007borns) 15 (2006 borns) and 16yrs (2004 borns) The Youth Trial dates are set and have numbers coming in. These sessions open to new players and current players who wish to play for MCU in 2021. In 2021 there will be a similar plan from Football Queensland to pre covid break to have 3-4events, a mix of regional and metropolitan. We are keen to see young players to put their han...ds up to test and develop themselves and welcome new interest for 2021. Two of these age groups are the direct pathway for Queensland Country Selection for the FFA National Youth Championships. Youth Trials begin 2nd of November. The MCU program trains 3 times a week (with the option to train 5 times) and plays as a competitive team up an age group or two in the MRFZ competition as part of their holistic development. The 2021 Youth Program will look to begin in mid-late January. SAP - 9 (2012 borns) - 12s (2009 borns) The SAP (Skill Acquisition Phase) program will look to keep moving forward in 2021 and welcomes interest from new and current players. This program is a training program that trains twice a week in addition to the players local club training making a total of 3 sessions a week. Players then play for their local club and then get the opportunity to represent MCU and Mackay at the Football Queensland State SAP Carnivals. There are usually 3-4 of these. The 2021 SAP Program will look to begin in late/early February. Female SAP and Youth. Magpies Crusaders United working with Football Queensland and MRFZ are looking to deliver a training program in 2021 for female football from 9-12(SAP) and 13-16 (Youth) to provide the football development through 2 sessions a week. These players then would look to do an extra session with their local club and play with them on the weekend and then, when available, represent MCU and Mackay at the Football Queensland development events around the state. There may be 2-3 of these scheduled by FQ. MCU are looking for expressions of interest from female players between the ages of 9 and 16 in 2021 (2012 borns to 2005 borns), if enough interest is there MCU will look to organise dates in mid-late January for trials to begin a program in mid February. 20.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Tim Mulherin this morning. Tim was a long time advocate of MRFZ and instrumental in securing State Government funding for the relocation from Barbour Park to Mackay Football Park. On behalf of Mackay and Regional Football Zone, we wish Erin, Declan, Liam, Rory and Tim's many friends all the love at this time. He will be missed. Rest Peacefully Tim.
