22.01.2022 With Christmas now over for another year the task of pack up has been completed. Because last year we only had half as many lights and no additional props storage was much easier. This year with 33,000 lights and lots of props things got a bit more complicated. So Mr Eustace has spent the last few days emptying out his shed of all the timber and rearranging everything to maximise space. This section is dubbed Christmas lane!! All our lights are packed into various crates, bo...xes and tubs. Our baubles are being used as additional lighting and the candy canes have all been tucked into the carport space between the beams and roof. Mr Eustace even made space to fit all the inside decorations (including our Easter ones!) and they are all at a level that Mrs Eustace can reach (yep, those little blue handles in the bottom shelves because I had to have matching tubs with the tree box!!). Once again thank you to everyone who visited and came in, those who drove by and those who saw our lights from neighbouring areas and tried to find us!! We hope to see you all again next year and share the 10,000 extra lights already on their way to us. See more

19.01.2022 Mr Eustace had a little assistance from big kid Eustace (until the mosquitoes tried to carry him away) and has made a good effort in completing all the fiddly bits on the upstairs verandah. We had made a plan to get the lights allocated to the pool done tonight but dinner took longer than expected to prepare and cook...

19.01.2022 Current count for everything put away is sitting at 25,035 lights. 93 sets so far. The low voltage energy count is currently sitting at 222.7W.

18.01.2022 Mr Eustace was adamant that we NEEDED another set of warm white icicles... Mrs Eustace disagrees. Explained we do not need them, we have more than enough. So we compromised and got the lights...

18.01.2022 Finding it extra hard to get photos this year... but here is where we are at so far. Not including the back corner which is all solar.

17.01.2022 Somehow Mr Eustace managed to leave the shop with another 2400 lights... bringing the weekends additions to 5,400. We made good progress this weekend and have the majority of our low voltage lights up. It seems the hours spent putting permanent hooks up last year paid off this year!!!

14.01.2022 But more space l under cover this year to commence set up as we downsized our caravan. We have decided to only focus on the front of the yard this year and possibly only put up half of the lights. Covid has been an extremely exhausting time for us as we both work in the ‘office’ side of health. Our first challenge was making our special Bluetooth timer in the meter box work!!!

14.01.2022 We are not quite finished but the lights will be on between 7-9pm each night! Still some settings to complete and a few strings still to go up but getting there!!

10.01.2022 Mrs Eustace has never been great with maths or sneaky shopping (ok, maybe the shopping a little!)... what was initially anticipated to be 30,000 lights this year is more likely to be closer to 40,000. We finished last year with 25,000. Recently we added 6,200 lights in what Mr Eustace deemed essential purchases... and at the end of last year there were the 7 lots of lights for the arches, the rope lights, the 2400 additional lights for our string art.... so it seems Mrs Eustace has failed maths and Mr Eustace has failed sneaky shopping....

10.01.2022 A quick test of things so far... this year we have gone right to the back shed!!

10.01.2022 We are at about 50% complete... ok, perhaps that is a little over enthusiastic but I would like to think we are. Mild set back caused some light delays today when we discovered our pool has gone green due to a failed chlorinator cell after trying everything to clean it and get it working. But we spent the middle of the day in the aircon repairing the lights we set from last year that we just didn’t get to. And only two sets ended up in the bin!

07.01.2022 A not so quick whip around tonight. Still some lights to go up and a few sets to adjust and patterns to set. But you get the general idea!

05.01.2022 This year we have made the decision to not enter any of the competitions. This doesn’t mean we won’t be putting up all the lights though!!! We will be commencing set up shortly ready to switch on 1 December. Mr Eustace is getting very excited and Mrs Eustace is hoping that all the careful putting away last years means no tangled lights this year...

04.01.2022 Mrs Eustace made an attempt at shaping the hedge today... our string set is up and a few lights as well. Still so far to go... but it is going to be awesome!!

03.01.2022 A massive thank you to everyone who visited this month. Tonight Mr and Mrs Eustace took the night off the display to work on the junior Eustaces Christmas gift of a waterslide. Yes, the one we had disguised in our display with Santa on it!! I do hope we had them fooled and they really didn’t know it was for them...

02.01.2022 Now that Christmas is over the pack up of the lights has commenced. Mr Eustace has been in charge of removing the bulk of them. He was lucky to get some assistance from family members yesterday to get a start on things. Now it is up to Mrs Eustace to stocktake everything we have. We have covered the workbench in the lights that need repairs and attention and are working our way through the rest. Removing the batteries from the solar lights, sorting them out and lastly the lengthy task of cataloguing. The hope is that we can then use our list to finalise our layout plan for next Christmas. Initially we intended to box it in zones based on where we thought we would put them but that means we may forget what we have and are limited stuck with that plan. I feel that perhaps we have done too much ikea flat pack as that is how this feels!!!!

01.01.2022 Emergency dash to get some extra multi colour strands resulted in the addition of another 3000 lights!!
