25.01.2022 QUESTION: I know that wives have the right to have a separate house from her parents-in-law with at least a kitchen and bathroom .But when the parents-in-law grow old and lonely and cherish companionship ,how will the son give them these?Or is he not obliged to give them companionship and it is enough to bring them a servant ? ANSWER: Giving his wife a separate accommodation does not free him of the responsibilities of taking care of his parents. He must still visit them, cal...l them and check up on them often. The best scenario is to live very close to them or even in the same building. https://youtu.be/yOHL18X8STM

20.01.2022 QUESTION: Should we believe that quran has scientific miracles like many muslim dawees say? Recently I heard from a dawee that it’s problematic to say quran has scientific miracles because early scholars did’t say anything about it. ANSWER: The Quran is not a book of science but rather a book of signs. ... Its miraculous nature is in its linguistic superiority among other things. However, the fact that it contains some scientific miracles doesn’t make it a book of physics or math. Therefore, one must read it to get closer to Allah and not to be distracted from worshiping Him as this is why He created us. Having said that, there are geological, biological and many other scientific miracles in the Quran but one must differentiate between facts and theories. The Quran must not be used to prove theories as these can be proven wrong in the future and are not flawless while facts are beyond that. One who talks about such signs must be a native Arab who has excellent command over the language so that he wouldn’t say what is not linguistically correct. He must also be knowledgable in the different sciences of sharia. The meaning one is looking for in such miracles must not go against any verse of the Quran or authentic hadeeth or the consensus of Muslims.

17.01.2022 QUESTION: Sheikh what if we wanted to make a Dua after finishing salah should we just raise our hands and make Dua or pray a sunnah rakah and make Dua in sujoodh? Also in the last hour of Friday should we make Dua in sujoodh or should we pray two rakah and make Dua by raising hands ? ANSWER: It’s an innovation to raise the hands and make dua after salah.... If you make the dua after salah once in a blue moon without raising hands, it’s OK but you must not make it a habit as this is the time for doing the prescribed dhikr and you should make dua in your sujood and in the last tashahud before making Salam. 07.01.2022 QUESTION: Dear ,sheikh, I have been put in a predicament of sorts, the subject is musical instruments, specifically the piano.Since an early age, my parents put me in a music class (one to one), and since then up until now,I have been studying the piano. Knowing it is haram I brought the case to my parents and they concluded I resume until I finish my current grade as they have paid for it, is this ok? ANSWER: This is absolutely prohibited. ... You must immediately discontinue this and sincerely repent to Allah. There’s no obedience to anyone at the cost of disobedience to Allah. 07.01.2022 Ruling on Uncovering the Head during Salah Q: What is the ruling on an Imam (the one who leads congregational Prayer) who does not cover his head during Salah (Prayer)? A: There is no harm in this, as the head is not part of the ‘Awrah (private parts of the body that must be covered in public) during Salah. He should only wear an Izar (garment worn below the waist) and a Rida' (garment worn around the upper part of the body), according to the saying of the Prophet ( ... ): None of you should offer Salah in a single cloth, none of which is covering his shoulders. However, if he grooms himself and dresses neatly, that will be better, according to Allah's saying ( ), O Children of Adam! Take your adornment (by wearing your clean clothes), while praying [and going round (the Tawâf of) the Ka‘bah,] [Surah Al-A’raf, 7: 31] If he lives in a country whose people are not used to cover their heads, there is no harm in uncovering it. [Majmoo ‘al-Fataawa Ibn Baaz, Vol.: 10; pp. 405 406]

04.01.2022 Cutting Ties with Relatives who Abandon Salah Q: This question was sent by M. H. from Abu Dhabi in the Emirates, I have some brothers and relatives who-, unfortunately-, do not perform Salah nor abide by the limits of Allah’s Law. Should I cut my ties with them, and stop enjoining them to do Ma‘ruf (that which is judged as good, beneficial, or fitting by Islamic law and Muslims of sound intellect) and forbidding them to do Munkar (that which is unacceptable or disapproved of... by Islamic law and Muslims of sound intellect), because they mock and ridicule me? They say: Do you want to reform everyone? and they hate to spend time with me and they have boycotted me. What should I do in regard to them? A: In the situation you have mentioned, that they have abandoned the Salah (Prayer) and are distanced from the good, it is permissible for you to separate yourself from them and cut your ties with them, as long as they do not accept your advice. It is necessary that you distance yourself from them and cut ties with them until they are guided by Allah. This is lawful for you; in fact it is a stressed Sunnah (supererogatory act following the example of the Prophet). Some scholars even view that this is Wajib (obligatory), due to their deviation from what is right and their distance from what is good. However, there is no harm in contacting them occasionally, hoping that Allah will guide them through Da‘wah (calling to Islam), counselling, and guidance. The Prophet ( ) himself had abandoned three of his Sahabah (Companions) when they missed a battle with him without an excuse. In summary, it is lawful for you to abandon these people - and it is at the very least a stressed Sunnah - until Allah guides them and leads them to the Right Path. We ask Allah to grant us and them guidance and success. [Majmoo ’al-Fataawa Ibn Baaz, Vol.: 10; pg. 296]

04.01.2022 Beautiful Advice from Aishah (r) to Mu`awiyah (r) Once, Mu`wiya b. Ab Sufyn (r), the founder of the Umayyad dynasty, wrote a letter from Damascus to Madinah, addressed to our mother A'ishah (r), in which he said, "O mother, I ask you to advise me, and don't overwhelm me with it!" So she wrote back to him, "Salm Alayk. I heard the Prophet say: Whoever desires to please Allah even if it means displeasing the people shall be taken care of by Allah [and he shall have no n...eed] of the people's help. And whoever desires to please the people even if it means displeasing Allah shall be abandoned by Allah and left to the people. Wa-l-Salam." [Reported by al-Tirmidhi]. Some beautiful points to learn from this hadith: - The eagerness of the companions for advice. It doesn't matter who you are, we all need advice from others, and we should all humble ourselves to advice from those more learned and experienced than us. - Mu`awiya (r) as a leader understood that he needs some advice from people who had the best interests of the Ummah, even if they weren't the closest to him. There were tensions between some Companions because of the political decisions and situations, yet still they understood that they have a higher goal and they needed to advise one another. - When advice is given, it should be given with gentelness, tact and wisdom. Mu`awiyah (r), knowing these tensions and despite the awkwardness, wanted some advice, yet he was worried that perhaps a harsh word or a long letter would turn him off from that advice. Hence, he politely requests our mother to be easy-going and give short and sweet advice. - The best advice is from the Quran and Sunnah; hence A'ishah (r) decided to send him a adth she had heard. - The adth is self-explanatory, and one that we should always keep in mind. When we act to please Allah, Allah will make sure that the people around us are kept in check, and in fact we won't even need their help. And when we neglect Allah and desire fame, or the help of others at the expense of the pleasure of Allah, Allah will give us that very goal, and let others ‘help’ us without His help (and what can anyone do when Allah has abandoned a person?!). - Look at the intelligence of our mother in choosing such an appropriate adth for the leader! In particular, people of respect and stature and authority need to keep this adth in mind, and always act conscientiously, with sincerity and humility. - Gender is irrelevant when it comes to wisdom. Mu`awiyah (r) being the leader of the community did not feel embarrassed to publicly seek advice from a woman. May Allah guide us to act in a manner that always prioritizes His Pleasure over the pleasure of the people!!
