25.01.2022 Beyond our words, the news, the streets and voices, we are talking to you all the time. Our history, our pain and our pride and our story is all around you. It is in the painting, the weaving, the making. It is in the Country, the grass, the sun, the trees.... Open your heart and listen, we have been talking to you forever. -Yatu Widders-Hunt This quote has rung so true to me this past week. We have a very long way to go. I am listening, I am learning and I am teaching my son so that everybody’s future for the generations to come is bright Beautiful Image from @danieljkiritsis

23.01.2022 Been staring out your window for months? Why not crystal clear your view! Behold! Mrs Jones top tips for cleaning windows Step 1 First clean the inside of your windows using a rag and an eco friendly window cleaner (I’m stoked @simplycleanhome have recently brought out one- it’s ace!) ... Step 2 Fill a bucket with hot water and detergent. Get it nice and soapy Step 3 Using a squeegee wash the outside of windows- I like to spray them with window cleaner beforehand as well. Step 4 Using a window scraper wipe down the windows (the one that’s on the squeegee doesn’t cut it for me so I use the ones from the shower- metal is best! Plastic tends to warp and not do as good a job) using a dry rag to catch any excess and dry your corners/lines- using these properly really is an art- best advice- go slow and get all zen with it. Step 5 Pour a cuppa and marvel at your incredible work. It’s amazing how much brighter a house can look after cleaning the windows. Perfect on those cold dreary days like today. Enjoy! P.s Do the screens while you’re at it. I like to use the same soapy water and a hard bristle brush or those hose attachments for cleaning the car, then simply rinse off with the hose, give em a shake and swear intently as you attempt to get the bloody bastard back in the window. #byronbay #cleaning #isolife

23.01.2022 Winter time We tend to keep windows closed and everything cooped up during the colder months. Its nice to have the house cosy BUT the best thing for your house and your health is to OPEN UP those windows, flood your abode with sunlight and ventilate the hell out of it. Why? Because although we think its the cold that gets us sick in winter, it can actually be the reduced amount of fresh air and sunlight we get ... So before you race out the door in the morning, fling open those windows and let your home breathe! If you’re home for the day, go one step further and cleanse your home of negative energy with some palo santo or sage. Yum! Loving this image and everything white bougainvilleas atm

07.01.2022 S H O W E R. M O U L D One of the toughest things to clean and with everyone having delicious steaming hot showers at the moment it’s prime time for mould to move in! Best advice I can give is it’s all in the prevention measures- I know right, how annoying! Like a dentist reminding you to floss to prevent fillings But its true. Mould grows in moisture so the less moisture in your bathroom the less mould you’ll have. Here’s my top tips for keeping mould at bay. ... Have the exhaust fan running the whole time you’re in the shower and for a while after. You’ll see the moisture on the walls and ceiling so wait until that’s dry. Ventilate! If you can open up all windows and doors to the bathroom once you’re done- good ventilations will allow moisture to dry faster. Try hanging your towels outside of the bathroom- they only add to dampness and will go smelly from moisture. Daily shower sprays are a great idea for prevention of mould- a simple half vinegar half water with a few drops of clove oil works a treat! If your bathroom doesn’t have good ventilation consider investing in a de-humidifier. They are on the pricey side but will be SO handy in many areas of your house! 01.01.2022 LAUNDRY The runt of the pack! My absolute least favourite of chores. Cleaning and running the house for me is all about efficiency. I get off on finding the quickest and most efficient way to do things. SO here’s my laundry hot tips! Have a clean canvas to begin with- tidy cupboards & draws (i think you could open any cupboard in the world and it would be kondo’d! #isolife ) ... Get ALL the baskets & piles of clean laundry scattered/hidden around the house and dump them somewhere- I love the dining table or lounge room floor. Race around and grab all empty hangers from the cupboards. SORT! Create piles- ones for each room then each drawer. Hang items place in room piles. As you place drawer items in piles ROLL them. I’m a roller from way back and do think it saves space, keeps it organised and easy to find things! HANG all hanging items then place into room/section piles- I like to sort into categories- tshirts, jumpers, pants etc #ocdmuch? Place your rolled gear into laundry baskets to pop away in each room then take all hung items to put away. Sit down for 3.7 seconds and enjoy all baskets empty and all clothes away! P.S Try to put away each load and not let it pile up to then be a 40min session I know the time frame because I just did one #nobodysperfect Image from my fav @olliella who shares a great laundry basket freshener tip #byronbay #cleaning
