23.01.2022 Are you ready for snake season? Charlie sure is! Can’t you see how enthusiastic he is?
23.01.2022 Snake season is well and truly rolling. Calls are coming in daily and are very diverse in nature. Here’s a shot of Tiger Snake (deceased) neonate to give you an ide of how small they are actually are. This is one of two snake seen on a Main Ridge property in the last few days. If you need assistance with a snake, blue tongue (lots of those around at the moment) or any other wildlife, please don’t hesitate to call. 0427617299 Stay safe everyone and as always, be kind to snakes
23.01.2022 Well 2020 is certainly dishing up some ..... stuff, thankfully snake season is off to a fly. Here’s a baby Copperhead to brighten your day
21.01.2022 Isn’t he gorgeous? Our as yet, unnamed, juvenile Scrub Python will grow to be the largest snake in our collection by a LOONNGGG way. But, for now he just sits up his perch letting us know he will bite if we get too close.
20.01.2022 Who I am? For those NON-snakey amongst you, can you guess which species of Australian snake this is? I know some of you certainly know the answer, so no spoilers from the herpers out there
20.01.2022 One location two snakes. Weep holes/Snakes 2 v Mr Slytherin 0. I will be back
19.01.2022 Well it certainly is the weather for it. As restrictions ease, the weather encourages outdoor activities and we generally start moving around more, so do our legless, ectothermic friends. Awareness is everything. Be aware of your surroundings and wear the appropriate footwear when enjoying the outdoors and/or working in the garden. Basic rule of thumb, If you see a snake, you are safe! If you chose to interact you are not! Snakes want nothing to do with humans and for most people, the same goes the other way. If you need a snake relocated do not hesitate to call any time day or night! 0427617299 Stay safe everyone
18.01.2022 With the season well and truly slowing to a trickle, it’s time for a random snakey thing of the week (RSTW) https://www.facebook.com/37648276904/posts/10158059444286905/?d=n
18.01.2022 Young Tiger Snake relocated in Cranbourne this afternoon.
17.01.2022 Coming to a wildlife awareness event near you. Keep your eye out for this stunner at one of our events in the not too distant future
15.01.2022 Back from a week away in the amazing Grampians. Nice to come back to a good bit of rain which is sure to fire up the locals Hope you’ve all been enjoying the festive season. Stay safe everyone! Here’s a humble old Shingleback to put a smile on your face. Well they make me smile at least
14.01.2022 Removed this young (deceased) Copperhead from a local school crossing this morning. Even though this youngster had been fatally struck by a car, there was still an element of risk given the location. The local crossing attendant did the right thing, calling in a licensed controller, as dead snakes still have the potential to cause a venom related injury.
14.01.2022 A bit of an update on Lace Monitors. New video across on the YouTube channel https://youtu.be/MaqdoVU7hxY
12.01.2022 So Australia is home to the world’s most dangerous snakes I hear you say. Africa offers a little perspective. Check this out!!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/snakesofsouthafrica/permalink/10158949426031043/
10.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable long weekend. I am available across the Easter period, and the weather suggests snakes will still be in the move
10.01.2022 It’s ok, it’s a very common mistake.
09.01.2022 This is something I would typically not do very often, but this particular animal is way too stunning not to share. As a reptile lover, I am truly blessed to live in Australia. However, Africa, is another part of the world with an incredibly diverse range of species. These pictures (shared with permission) show the truly mind blowing colour and form of the iconic Rinkhals! Despite a very similar appearance, it is not a true Cobra, but is an elapid species that has the ability to spit it’s venom as a defense mechanism. Mind blown! https://www.facebook.com/1003880686/posts/10222791602351003/?d=n

07.01.2022 Possibly the best example of why this species is so often mistaken for the iconic Red Bellied Black snake. This side by side pic (of the same animal) is of a local Lowland Copperhead showing almost black colouration with deep orange, almost crimson flanks. Unfortunately this beautiful animal was yet another victim of our roads.
07.01.2022 RSTW Native v Introduced. An observation posted on iNaturalist. Outstanding ... http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/78035823
07.01.2022 RSTW As well as being a licensed wildlife controller, we also operate a wildlife demonstration business. This means maintaining a collection of reptiles that include several venomous snakes. Whilst we are unable to keep any non-Australian species, if we could, this is the one for me. The Gaboon Viper is a spectacular viper species from Africa https://www.facebook.com/836713966448035/posts/3995116733941060/?d=n
05.01.2022 Captain Attitude is growing fast and looking sensational! Such an amazing species to maintain. Hope he’s a little more subdued by the time he reaches 4 metres in length. Scrub Python, Simalia kinghorni.
05.01.2022 Mistaken identity! Very common occurrence
04.01.2022 Spring is here, time to get up and about! First, a drink
03.01.2022 I had a very interesting and very rare call out over the weekend. On Sunday, I was called to a suburban house, where the owners who were routinely gardening reported a white snake on their lawn. Upon arriving I was very surprised to find this albino North American Corn Snake. This non-venomous colubrid is one of America’s most commonly kept reptile pets, however, in Australia it is illegal to keep this, or any species of exotic reptile as they pose a significant risk to our biodiversity. This snake is a poster species for the illegal pet trade in Australia, but sadly they have no place in our environment. This animal has been handed over to DELWP authorities.
02.01.2022 Happy World Snake Day everyone! A great opportunity to celebrate the importance, significance and shear magnificence of
02.01.2022 This will be fun
