20.01.2022 I got this comment on my blog: "You look like you are 70 with your gray hairs. You really should dye them for TV so you don't look like such an old hag." My response is a recipe for life. More https://instagram.com/thestayathomechef
19.01.2022 Flashback. Wedding Makeup by Mrs Makeup - Nikki Stacey. Aren't these colours so sweet?
19.01.2022 Filming during a global pandemic is high risk, especially with a talent list into double digits over 2 x days. It involves a formal COVID_19 Safety Plan and a switch to almost exclusively disposables. Here's how I managed hospital standard hygiene:... For each talent I prepared a zip lock bag of disposable tools - sponge, powder puff, cotton tips, lip brushes, mascara wands, wooden palette sticks. Before the shoot I dispensed face powder into snack size ziplocks. Into even smaller ziplocks I dispensed matte mineral powders and used 1 per person. Sample sachets were my saviours - for primer and lip glosses. Wooden pallette knives were a saviour - all makeup was dispensed onto these and as they are cheap - I could use multiple per person. Lipstick was shaved off onto the wooden palette knives. Face mask - for entire shoot. New gloves for each talent and for each touch up. Hospital grade spray for table, chair cleaned between every application. All items laid out on paper towel and discarded after each application. Any brushes used were stored in the ziplock bag for each talent (thank goodness I have 15-20 of every brush style to get through filming). Even though hospital grade cleaning of tools is standard, sterilising brushes at home was next level. Assuming any brush could be carrying virus - surfaces, sinks, towels all needed non-contact with other items. Honestly it was a lot of hard work. I even worried that the towel I dried my brushes with might infect the washing machine. No wonder, I'm hearing a lot of MUA's are not doing personal make-ups right now, its a lot of effort for 1 x face and unless you've got a COVID Safety Plan I can understand why those weekend MUA's have hung up the brush belt.
18.01.2022 Sorry Brides-to-be, It WILL be super disappointing to cancel or change your wedding plans, but there is NO WAY, your guests can drink champagne and continue to maintain a 2m distance between each other. And would you really want your guests standing isolated listening to music and NOT being able to talk to each other and have fun? Even a quiet wedding, this would be super awkward and you'll remember your day for all the wrong reasons.... Just Wait! Until you can make it the best day of your life. PS: I know it is hard on vendors and suppliers, but it is also selfish for these providers to be encouraging anything but a cancellation. And NO vendor should be cancelling/ keeping your deposit without re-scheduling. If a supplier doesn't provide the service, they shouldn't be entitled to be paid - regardless of any paperwork you've signed - seek professional advice on this or go to govt websites to check your consumer rights.
16.01.2022 On today! Soooo many great designer pieces and quality accessories - this is no flea market, it's a chance to revive your wardrobe and support a meaningful cause. Well done Tam Wrigley for organising a FASHIONADDICT Fundraiser Event - what a great way to contribute and bring some fashion fabulousness to the coast.
13.01.2022 I used to love teaching Makeup, and over the last few years with the whole Kardashian instagram look, I've felt my style and makeup ethos is over.... Until seeing this. Bobbi Brown from Bobbi Brown Cosmetics breaks its all down and says NO to nose contouring. It's not for everyone - but refreshing to see an artist promoting makeup that doesn't need a ring light to make it look good. Because it's all about YOU and not your eyeliner.
10.01.2022 This year's Fashions on the Field for Sunshine Coast Turf Club Caloundra Cup - have moved online. So exciting that you can compete virtually. Details below.
09.01.2022 Finally. Hopefully they will not just focus on the 'paid post' as much as the 'look at what this product did for me' post. And then if they could also fine influencers for using filters to advertise the effectiveness of beauty products - then a whole generation of women could walk through their lives with more realistic expectations and most likely be happier with how they look and who they are.
09.01.2022 Oh my..... The Makeup & Fashion Runway world came to a dramatic halt in 2020, but my favorite outcome has been the creative display of ingenuity of presenting clothing in different formats. Isn't this just a magnificent moment - couture X puppets X theatre!... Just loving.

05.01.2022 A great day on the Sunshine Coast judging FOTF for Istyle TV. Had the pleasure of spending a few days with The Bachelor Australia runner-up Jarrod Woodgate (who is such a charming gentleman, I'm quite surprised he's still single?) including an extended shopping trip to Myer Maroochydore for his outfit. (which was a group decision, and not just me wanting to be his perfect match - haha!) Thanks to host Tam Wrigley and my co-judge Profile Magazine founder Genine Howard for a great day.
04.01.2022 It took Jennifer Lawrence years to feel comfortable in her own skin. But what scandal left Jennifer broken? And How did Emma Stone help pick up the pieces?
