21.01.2022 Gall stones can cause severe pain and even infection. If the gallbladder is causing symptoms or if there are multiple stones then removal of the gallbladder is often advised. Mr Karametos performs this procedure using the laparoscopic technique which results in diminished pain and a shorter hospital stay. http://www.stevenkarametos.com.au/gallbladder-surgery.html

20.01.2022 What can I expect from Bariatric Surgery? Bariatric surgery restricts your food intake by reducing the size of the stomach, decreasing absorption and altering the expression of hormones associated with hunger and the metabolism. 3 years after a sleeve gastrectomy, the average patients loses 60% of their excess body weight. However, it is important to remember this means that half of all patients will lose less than 60% and the other half will lose more than 60% of their exce...ss weight. http://www.stevenkarametos.com.au/weight-loss-surgery.html

18.01.2022 Mr Karametos performs the procedure Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. This operation is a keyhole surgery in which the gallbladder is removed. The most common reason for a cholecystectomy procedure is the development of gall stones. If you think you are suffering from gall stones, you can get a referral to see Mr Karametos from your general practitioner. http://www.stevenkarametos.com.au/gallbladder-surgery.html

17.01.2022 A Hernia is when part of an internal organ or tissue bulges through a weak area of muscle or connective tissue. They can be caused by lifting heavy objects, straining during a bowel movement, constipation or diarrhea, persistent coughing or sneezing, chronic lung disease, obesity, poor nutrition or smoking. Laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery is the most common method of repair performed by Mr Karametos, although it is not suitable for everyone. The major advantages of this type of surgery are smaller incisions and therefore less pain and a quicker recovery. http://www.stevenkarametos.com.au/hernia-repair.html

05.01.2022 How do you know if you have a hernia? Think of a hernia as a bulge in a tire. The outer wall of the tire is like your abdominal wall. The inner tube of the tire is like your intestines. Most of the time, the outer wall of the tire is strong enough to hold the inner tube, but if the wall weakens, a bulge may occur. This is similar to the way a hernia form in the abdominal wall or groin. For more information about hernias please see our website.
