22.01.2022 Another recent sunset moment when seeing the beauty in nature during a messed up 2020. #nature #sunset #mindfulness

18.01.2022 Searching for peace in wild times.

17.01.2022 We recently dehydrated strawberries. They were feeling a bit less fresh and I wanted to save them. The dehydrator turned them into tasty dried fruit snacks. They felt like candy but healthy! #zerowaste moment for a #vegan #plantbased treat.

16.01.2022 As we progress beyond January, the great Veganuary concludes. This is an opportunity. Did you participate in Veganuary? Did you learn new compassionate ways to eat and live? Do you feel confident to use these practices in the future? If you still feel unsure, there are organisations and resources that can help. You can have a look at our vegan content at RealDifferentLiving.com.

14.01.2022 Getting through the week. #sunset #beach #mindful

11.01.2022 I saw this sunset days ago. I want to get outside more often for the rest of this week. Sunsets are refreshing and renewing. A day slowly closes. Night becomes a time to rest and reset. Tomorrow will be a new day. #beach #sunset #breathe

08.01.2022 Friends, as I try to find my path and direction, I know food will be a significant part of my fate. I am a plant based vegan. I am not trying to take anything away from anyone else’s freedom. You do you. That is the most peaceful loving thing I can say. I like veggies and compassion. And coffee. I visited a major shopping centre today and was surprised by the lack of healthy plant based options. There were some but I also perceived opportunities for more. I expected diversity... in such a populated place. Let’s be realistic. If mainstream cafes offered just one type of WFPB bean burger, that would be a nourishing start. A step towards a direction. I hope anyone could be encouraged to simply add extra veggies too. Try more options that have just plants. Trust me, it could even taste good. Even after all the change we have seen, the world needs plenty of information and access to whole plant based foods. Somehow. Maybe that’s high hopes but it’s a worthy desire. Folks, you could challenge yourself to get more foods from whole plants instead of packets. Anyway. But we’re all different. The world has too much division already. I don’t want to add to that. Remember, I’m yours in freedom and peace and love. P.S. thanks to the wonderful people who made this lovely coffee. See more

15.12.2021 Let's bring attention to this wonderful land and hope everyone could find peace. We can have compassion for anyone who struggles on this day. We can also bring our awareness to this place we live on - this land that needs our help. #Australia RealDifferentLiving.com

18.11.2021 Hi everyone. Now that I have your attention with a picture of me wearing a swimsuit (at the start of 2020), pretty please swipe through to see some nostalgic pictures that mean the world to me. #2 was in 2015, the year after my grandmother survived a life-saving surgery. She continued living with a hell of a diagnosis. But there we were, all giggling and having fun. #3 is a bit more serious but such a defining moment. Elizabeth was sitting down because she couldn’t walk and... we didn’t know why. It was 2014. She was showing up. We were acknowledging Gary for his voluntary work in helping to build a community. Elizabeth had been my rock especially in the few years leading up to that day. I worked hard to rebuild my life after some upheaval. People advised me, Don’t air your dirty laundry. Something happened in 2010 that is now so long ago and such a distant memory that I can’t even write it. I am not ashamed anymore but it is not my reality now. I quietly built an identity and abilities with my grandmother by my side. Elizabeth had lifted me up. Then, in this picture, she couldn’t stand. But we were with her. #4 We both went in for a hug. Someone captured this moment. #5 Here I was in 2011. I sat with my grandparents, wearing a ribbon that was given to people who were attending their first Toastmasters conference. I got a ribbon just for showing up. It looks fancy but was basically not even a participation certificate. I got a ribbon for sitting in the audience. It was great encouragement because I felt like a fish out of water. Was my outfit too baggy? My grandmother reassured me that I was young and could wear anything. She was so encouraging. Now, many years later, I am a home for a young one. I need to be as encouraging as Elizabeth was. Yes, that was a former life. But I learned so much from the time with my grandparents in the community. It is different now. Elizabeth is gone. I am parenting a very young child. Communities look different in this pandemic era. But I look back at Elizabeth’s sense of fun and hope. I remember that spirit and am grateful for both of my grandparents on the anniversary of the announcements of their awards.

02.11.2021 Flashback photo. This day is a time when I appreciate community, and therefore inclusivity. Australia Day was a time when my grandparents were recognised for volunteering in their community. What did this mean for Elizabeth? Caring and sharing. In this era, I wish I could give my communities a big hug.

21.10.2021 Quick easy snack. Flavoured tempeh and avocado on a rice thin. I added cashew cheese to the next one. This combo revived my energy, along with good old hydration.

16.10.2021 I found myself saying today, I could spend all day in the kitchen and it would be the best use of my time. How? By sharing my fun with food. I realise we need as many voices as possible, supporting lifestyles that are healthy for people and the planet. I have my own perspective about the practical realities of cooking and eating as a parent in Australia in this era. Here is a peek at my reheated spaghetti in pumpkin sauce with tamari maple tempeh.

18.09.2021 Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream. The ABC (Australia) previously quoted Gary Wilson in the spirit of the Unforgettable Speeches program, "I Have A Dream' delivered a razor-sharp message of four words repeated at an almost resonant frequency, like a series of waves, each one reinforcing the one before... the power of the Reverend's visual imagery and the potency of its implications carried the message with full force even to his partially literate audience. The speech remai...ns a monument to what can be achieved when a human being with a clear belief decides to move humanity with nothing more than the spoken word." https://www.abc.net.au/rn/features/speeches/alsoasked/ I hope to share ways in which we can change our lives and the world at RealDifferentLiving.com.

14.09.2021 My precious grandmother passed away a year ago. She wanted to share so much for her granddaughter. I have been thinking about her in recent days. I am still trying to understand a world that does not have Elizabeth Wilson in it anymore.
