24.01.2022 Failed to mention I just happened to finish my #homespunquilt top during my (extended) work break! I ended up having eight days off, and managed to be quite productive! @modernlymorgan has managed to out together a super easy to follow quilt pattern that can be used in so many ways! I struggled a little getting the colour variance the way I wanted it.... but in the end - worked primarily from my stash and didn’t want to buy more fabric! Third finished quilt top since #isolife began in March! Now I just need to organise to have all these quilt tops quilted so I can use them! #covidquilt
24.01.2022 I started this quilt late 2015.... for the #farmerswife1930s quilt along with @gnomeangel ... I managed 64 #paperpieced blocks before I called it done.... which was quite possibly early 2017 It has since been patiently awaiting some attention.... which it finally got when my friend @quiltsfromnanastrunk Debbie quilted it for me! Made from the original collections of @rubystarsociety and sashed with @carolynfriedlander , Ive now tracked down the perfect binding and hope to get it finished very soon! Oh and the backing is a wide back @missmelodymiller I bought in Tokyo for a steal about five years ago #dogforscale #averysmalldog
23.01.2022 Annnnnd she’s finished! Only took five years... I’m so in love with this quilt... I have no idea who’s getting it, so until then - it will sit quietly and patiently in my sewing room just waiting to be used & abused. For those playing along at home - #1930sfarmerswifequilt made with all the original C&S prints by @missmelodymiller @rashida_coleman_hale @alexiamarcelleabegg @kmelkight and @wattsalot .... sashed with @carolynfriedlander and the most epic backing fabric ever by @missmelodymiller ! 64 little blocks (the full quilt pattern has 99) mostly paper pieced all together in a traditional layout. Quilted by the very talented @quiltsfromnanastrunk I call that done!
21.01.2022 Block number 16 & 3 x 1/2’s..... I love this block but all of the colours together in this quilt are not making 100% sense so who knows where the hell this is going to end up! #homespunquilt #covidquilt
20.01.2022 More mask masking by request of my cousin in Paris.... two of these are heading over for @misssharonryan & Scarlett.... These are the 3D pattern by @japanesesewingbooks and are shaped beautifully #allthefacemasks #allaroundtheworld #hellokittyliberty
17.01.2022 A wee little Liberty stitching today. Using my #kisscrossquilt pattern, with no real plan except to use up as many of my #aussiecharmswap squares as I can manage
17.01.2022 Another #coronaquilt in the making.... #homespunquilt pattern by @modernlymorgan ... first row #justanotherneighbourhoodfence
17.01.2022 A black & white preview pic because it’s 5.45pm and the light is atrocious - but it’s a finished quilt top! This has been quite the nightmare to put together, but I’m calling it done! #marcellemedallionquilt
14.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago, I was asked if I could make a very special gift for a very special friend of mine. Her sister bravely handed over some of their beloved mums clothing to see if I could turn it into a cushion for Becs 40th. I have to say - I had to take a pretty big breath before cutting in to Maggie’s striped shirt, but once I did, so began a really beautiful and meaningful project. In the end, I couldn’t make just one - both sisters received a cushion. Working with a garment that has been worn and is cherished was an entirely different process than I’ve ever been through, and it was a real honour Happy birthday Bec, and thanks for trusting me Ange
14.01.2022 Ok. First of all - disclaimer - do not take me to task over the horrific state of my cutting table! It’s the end result of the great face mask making period of 2020.... Second of all - it’s the end of a very long arduous day that ended in me heading home early from work so I look like shit. BUT - I’ve been seeing a LOT of people waiting on elastic to make their face masks and I got this hot tip off @clairsfabrics yesterday and wore a mask today using the same fabric alternative and ITS SO MUCH BETTER/MORE COMFY THAN ELASTIC! All you need is an old T-shirt/stretch fabric, scissors and a terrible voice like me! So I’m taking one for the team recording this dodgy video. You’re welcome. #alltheoldtees #ihatemyvoice #fabrilastic
13.01.2022 Tis growing.... #kisscrossquilt #liberty #noideahowbigitsgonnaget
11.01.2022 Took two extra leave days. Trying not to spend the whole time watching Netflix and eating myself in to a hole... so here’s another #homespunquilt block I prepared earlier today... I’m on to the final row.... @modernlymorgan #covidquilt #melbournecurfew
09.01.2022 The sunshine finally turned on so I could get a colour photo of this beauty! It’s my second #corona quilt and didn’t take half as long as I’d imagined. The #marcellemedallionquilt is an oldie but a goodie. It doesn’t matter that I wanted to scream throughout due to the lack of measurements for finished rows and the need to draw up paper pieced flying geese to ensure my sanity was somewhat intact. It’s far from perfect, and will need a long arm quilters expertise to deal with its wonkiness, but I do love it. Majority of fabric are from my rather extensive @carolynfriedlander collection as well as some @karenlewistextiles pops of brightness! #justanotherisoquilt
09.01.2022 The final instalment of #covidquilting is this very simple baby quilt I whipped up this week for the soon to be newest member of our extended family! Given how little I can sew these days, I found an orphan block from my #toxicquilt (swipe to see said quilt from years ago!), added some all important pale grey and bound it with the newest neutral colour - mustard. Simplicity at its best, and small enough for me to handle without breaking. #everybabygetsaquilt
08.01.2022 Amidst all the turmoil of this world, I’ve been quietly stitching away and making some progress on my #marcellemedallion quilt... it has tested me considerably - especially in the maths department. I ended up drawing up some paper pieced templates for this damn flying geese, but it was worth it for the pointy perfection. I’m thinking by the time I’ve finished it, it will have a significant place in our home, being made during a time where I’ve spent countless hours thinking about and learning about the people around me.
08.01.2022 Yesterday marked the end of 17 years of primary schooling in this household! No more walking to school, no more getting drowned at wet picks ups, no more lunch orders, tagging along at excursions, sitting through assemblies & end of year concerts. It’s the end of an era! Our three youngest saw out the past nine years at the same school, and we have been lucky to have forged a great relationship with our principal - so it was fitting that after all 2020 threw her way, she deserved a quilt! The outgoing grade 6 cohort signed it and it was presented by my gorgeous school captain yesterday. And that, my friends, is a wrap for schooling this year! #imnotcrying
06.01.2022 Call me obsessed.... call me whatever you want - but I spent my last two work days losing my shit over the fact I couldn’t see a computer screen whilst wearing a face mask because FOG. I’ve just made these 3D face masks after @sewgiving sent me the YouTube link.... and no fog!!! I guess time will tell, but I’m feeling a little more positive about heading to work tomorrow! Link in comments. You’re welcome. #3dfacemask #allthefacemasks
04.01.2022 Another #covidquilt finish! I channeled every bit of energy in to getting this trimmed and bound today, when all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball on the lounge I’m really glad I pushed through. I picked this baby up from my friend @quiltsfromnanastrunk last weekend, and couldn’t be happier with the amazing job she did quilting it So.... #homespunquilt pattern by @modernlymorgan ; blocks put together with just some of the fabrics in my stash; backed with a huge piece of @amybutlerdesign I got from @hillstitchesfabricshop a while back and the grey sashing and background is from @lilly.patches and @thenextstitch . Another quilt that was made just because and will be popped away until I decide if I’m gifting it or putting it in to household rotation. #done #anothermelbourneisoquilt
03.01.2022 For all my Melbourne peeps - if you are handy and like to see, this is a great free face mask pattern - For those of who cannot sew and are seeking handmade masks, I have a bunch of handmaker friends that can help - Lilli May designs; Lil Pip; Blossom Heart Quilts... https://www.craftpassion.com/face-mask-sewing-pattern/
01.01.2022 Two rows down... three to go... not 100% sure on the whole colour situation, but lucky for me I have plenty of bloody time for sewing over the next six weeks! #covidquilt #homespunquilt #alltherainandmud @modernlymorgan
