15.01.2022 Collie district farmer and @nuffieldaust Scholar Andrew Freeth among his 245 hectare canola crop. Andrew’s home town north-west of Dubbo has been hit hard by unrelenting dry weather in recent years, but his 2020 canola crop is shaping up to be the best he’s grown in nine years. #knowyourfarmer @australianfarmers

15.01.2022 We’ve opened a second receival site in the Central West during what local farmers are referring to as the ‘best year for grain and livestock’. We’re leasing the GrainCorp shed in Cumnock to receive and store locally grown Non-GM canola seed. The shed has sat idle since it was last used in 2014, and with #harvest2020 exceeding growers’ expectations, this extra storage will allow us to handle the forecast influx of seed in coming days and weeks. I think it’s a great thing for ...these smaller towns where there hasn’t been a local delivery point particularly after the years we’ve had. For me, areas like Cumnock were the epicentres of drought so it’s a great result that we’re able to open this and start receiving given it’s a bin buster year, said our Commodities Buyer James Dellow. Local grain grower David Weston hopes to start delivering seed into the Cumnock shed this weekend. This is a wonderful year. It’s been the best year I’ve ever seen for grain and livestock. The last three years were shockers. 2016 was a good one but this is the best one I’ve ever seen. It is very exciting that MSM are going to utilise this facility to store canola. It’ll save us an hour and a half for our trucks going across to Manildra each load. Sometime these old facilities they just sit derelict and once they disappear they never open up again, but it is wonderful to see MSM Milling have been proactive in utilising this as a facility for them. And we need this storage this year! L-R Josh Peffer - Production Manager Peffer Pastoral and Canobolas Eggs, Grower David Weston and James Dellow - MSM Milling’s Commodity Buyer.
