20.01.2022 Earlier this morning, hundreds of Perth’s swimming community took to the water for this year’s Channel 7 Port to Pub with Hotel Rottnest. Alexandra Shorter and her teammates are amongst this amazing group! We will be posting updates over the course of the day on how the team are travelling, so once again help us cheer them on as they make their way across to Rottnest Island. ... It’s not to late to support Alex, as she raises vital funds on behalf of MSWA! https://porttopub21.grassrootz.com/mswa/alex-shorter

16.01.2022 Meet Alex, who will be ticking the Channel 7 Port to Pub with Hotel Rottnest swim from her bucket list early on Saturday, 20 March from Port Beach. Alex was diagnosed with MS 10 years ago, when she lost all the feeling and movement in her legs. Swimming has been her go to, so she thought that this was the perfect time to take to the water to raise vital funds for MSWA to help support the thousands who live with neurological conditions here in WA! Alex has been steadily inc...reasing her training in the lead up to this year’s event. I get my swim training in before lunch, so I can manage my fatigue and have an afternoon sleep each day. Alex has been eating health by adding lots of fresh fruit and vegetables to her diet but admits that she does enjoy a sneaky bit of chocolate after dinner. With her family, friends, and the guidance of the Mandurah Tri Club Swimmers, who have been a tremendous support with positive encouragement and motivation, Alex feels she is ready to take on this challenge! I am a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to swimming in the ocean, as I have a fear of sharks but the lock down of my local pool during the snap 5-day COVID lockdown gave me no other choice. With her daughter for support Alex took her local beach to continue her training, and is now swimming up to 8Km per week as part of her preparation for the Port to Pub. Please join us as we wish Alex and her team well, and if you would like to support her, just follow the link here! https://porttopub21.grassrootz.com/mswa/alex-shorter https://www.facebook.com/alexandra.shorter http://www.trimandurah.com/ https://porttopub.com.au/p
