14.01.2022 Under 13 White v's SEQ - 1st November The 13s White team won today vs SEQ, making it 2 wins from 2 games. It was good to get a game without any rain around. Winning the toss, we elected to bat first. Ruairi Moloney and Alistair Henry got us off to a great start, getting a first wicket partnership of 61. This set an excellent platform for the rest of the team. We did however lose 2 quick wickets and it was up to Ruairi and Dilshan Wickrama, to build a partnership and steady th...e innings. They did so, scoring 48 runs together before Dilshan was dismissed. From there we were able to really launch our innings and the middle order batsman capitalised on our good start. Christian Alexander 35, D'arcy Satharasinghe 35 and Rohith Pothugunta 43 not out did the damage, and helping the team finish 6/233 off 50 overs. The pick of the batsmen though was Ruairi, top scoring with 51 and scoring his first ever 50! He got the team off to a great start and steadied the innings really well. Throughout the innings the running between the wickets was once again a highlight. We then went out to bowl. This week we decided to do something a bit different and open with spin from 1 end. So Kethmin Meegasdeniya and Rohith opened the bowling and Kethmin providing us with an early wicket at 1/12. After that, we were getting wickets, however we bowled too many loose deliveries and this allowed SEQ to score at a quick rate. Some good smart fielding from Christian saw us get a key run out and a vital wicket, leaving SEQ at 5/95. From there it was the spinners that did the damage, to bowl SEQ out for 141. Kethmin 3/18, James Hockey 3/26 and Oliver Hottot 2/12 did the damage. All in all a good win, however next week we will need to be more disciplined with tighter bowling and improved ground fielding.

09.01.2022 Match report round 2 MSW v Gold Coast - Written By Scarlett Varidel On Sunday, the MSW girls played an exquisite game of cricket against the Gold Coast. The MSW team took a win with the on-target bowling and the outstanding boundaries. We had a top scorer in the batting with 40 runs, Taylor Hamblin. The leading wicket takers were Sophie Martin with 2 wickets, Isabel Goffage with 2 wickets and Taylor Hamblin with 2 wickets. The girls performed with pride and a consistent energy in the field. Great catches were taken and the MSW team were full of team spirit. Good luck next week girls!
09.01.2022 Under 13 MSW Girls played Gold Coast on Sunday The MSW U13 girls travelled to Runaway Bay Cricket Club to play the Gold Coast on Sunday. MSW were sent in to bat in overcast conditions but 4 of our top 5 batters managed to weather the storm and retire not out. Leading the way was team captain Tanvi Aiyer (22) who was well supported by Olivia Totten (16), Holly Walker (15) and Poppy Weekes (12). The girls batted out the full 40 overs and posted a respectable total of 118. The G...old Coast run chase started comfortably until two brilliant runouts by Connie O’Hara fielding at extra fine leg sent the openers back to the sheds. Poppy Weekes (2/16 off 5) and Anushka Mankad (2/12 off 4) were the leading wicket takers with Sarah Kroeger and Jemma Jones also taking a wicket each. The game was in the balance with 10 overs remaining before another runout (the fourth of the innings!) by Tanvi Aiyer secured the win for MSW with 16 runs to spare. Well done girls on a terrific team effort. Next week we have a rematch against the BEARS. Good luck girls!
06.01.2022 MSW U15 White versus Gold Coast Round 3, 8 November 2020: MSW U15 White travelled down the M1 to play Gold Coast at Carrara. Nathan won the toss and decided to bowl under overcast skies. The first hour went well with MSW taking three wickets with just 26 runs on the board. That was the highlight of the day. Gold Coast dominated the match from that point forward and totally outplayed MSW. A terrific partnership of 167 runs for the fourth wicket allowed Gold Coast to accum...ulate 5-199 from their allotted 50 overs. MSW grassed numerous chances along the way and was generally poor in the field with fumbles, misfields and overthrows evident throughout the final 35 overs of the innings. MSW could not have begun with a worse start to the run chase slumping to 2-0 after four overs. Hayden (7) and Anu (21) attempted to rectify the situation but runs were hard to come by with tight bowling to a stacked off side field. The score progressed to 34 before 6 wickets fell for the addition of just 11 runs. At 8-45 the match was lost and it was up to the lower order to restore some prided in the red, white and blue and make Gold Coast earn their wickets. The plan was to reach triple figures and keep Gold Coast in the field as long as possible. Samir (18) and Matthew (23*) showed what application and determination could do and put together a partnership of 35 runs to take the score to 80. The innings ended with the score on 104 after 45.3 overs with Seb and Bini assisting Matthew to go past the 100 mark. The dressing room was rightfully sombre after the match. All players have been given homework to improve every aspect of their performance before with come together again for the next Round. See more

03.01.2022 MSW U13 Red vs BEARS Green Game 6 Written By: Trupty Nimkar It was a cold damp day with a steady drizzle but the game went on. Our boys lost the toss and were put in the field. They bowled and fielded well to get the opposition all out for 87 in the 20 overs. The BEARS boys started cautiously but lost wickets at regular intervals and scored at less than 4 runs per over in the first 10 overs. They tried to score briskly in the last 10 overs but Oscar Lonegan bowled his best... spell in the week (3 overs - 12 runs and 5 Wickets) to halt the BEARS assault. Our boys started batting steadily and were doing fine till the 10th over but 5 runouts put undue pressure on the team. They needed 12 runs in the final 2 overs, some good hitting by Aiden got them over the line on the final ball of the inning. They scored 88 for the loss of 7 wickets. It was an enjoyable week of cricket. The MSW U13 Red team ended 4th on the ladder, which is a very good effort from the boys. The boys gelled together during the week and played like a team. This experience will help them in their growth as a cricketer and as a person. I want to thank Stewart Campbell for managing the team and all parents for their support and contributions during training and the carnival.
