23.01.2022 We're encouraging everyone in Denmark, locals and visitors alike, to help our community and town stay safe from the risk of bushfire this summer. You can make a... difference simply by regularly visiting https://www.emergency.wa.gov.au/ and downloading the Emergency+ app here http://emergencyapp.triplezero.gov.au/ Every single person in our community has the ability to help prevent a serious emergency simply by staying up-to-date and aware. You can also do your bit by choosing activities suited to the daily fire danger. Check the Emergency+ app for listed fires in your area, call 000 if you see unexplained smoke and tune in to local ABC radio for emergency updates.

22.01.2022 The Local Emergency Management Committee has made the decision that no further burning permits will be issued within the Shire of Denmark at this time. We want ...to ensure that our emergency response capacity remains as strong as possible and that we do not place unnecessary strain on our services. For this reason, all designated sites for camping and cooking fires within the Shire will also be revoked. The Shire of Denmark and the Local Emergency Management Committee is working hard to support the community through this time of uncertainty and we thank all community members for their understanding and support. 21.01.2022 Re: Permits from the Fire Chief Lez PERMITS: Discussions are being held weekly as conditions change regarding the issuing of Permits. This being the case, Permits can be considered from... Tuedsay 21st April BUT ONLY if certain criteria are met. When issuing Permits please consider carefully if your Brigade can crew your appliance with personnel living under the same roof to ensure social distancing at all times. If you cannot supply your Brigades appliance on those terms then maybe the Permit should not be issued in your area. Please consult with myself, Bryce or Scott if you are unsure of anything at all. FCO's are not to issue any permits from out of their Brigade area. CONDITIONS NO PERMITS to be issued for any townsites, Denmark, Ocean Beach, Peaceful Bay, Nornalup including any industrial areas. This is to ensure clean unpolluted air and to avoid any respiratory problems. NO PERMITS to be issued for Standing Bush. Permits will ONLY be considered for agricultural purposes. ALL PERMITS to be approved by myself, Bryce or Scott via phone call before the Permit is written out. Permit's can only be for 5 days. Permits will be considered for piles on clear ground but only for farming purposes. Any FCO issuing a permit MUST inspect the burn area to ensure that it meets with the set criteria. Also to confirm that the land owner has the means to extinguish the burn if instructed to do so. Please check that the farmers Fire unit is operational before issuing a permit. No Fire unit means NO PERMIT. Only 2 piles in close proximity to be burning at any one time. If multiple piles extinguish first burn before starting another. NO PERMITS can be for yourself, if required please ask myself, Bryce or Scott. ALL PERMITS REQUIRE THE HOLDER TO CONTACT THE BURNS REGISTERY AT COMCEN 9395 9209 These are difficult times but we need to ensure the health and safety of all volunteers as well as the public. That is the reason for these tougher conditions being imposed. Please adhere to the Social Distancing protocol and consider whether any burn Permit is really necessary. Failure to comply with Permit conditions could result in an infringement being served. Thank you and stay safe, Lez CBFCO
