18.01.2022 The FCAI has warned that tougher Government regulations may be required in order to remove vehicles equipped with dangerous Takata airbags from the roads. With less than two months to go until the deadline for vehicle manufacturers to replace faulty airbags in all affected vehicles, FCAI Chair Tony Weber said the Government may need to step in and deregister vehicles in instances where individuals fail to listen to the recall. 14.01.2022 Brisbane motor dealers have been caught in a warranty sting operation by Fair Trading Queensland for selling vehicles without mandatory consumer protections. Under the Motor Dealers and CHattel Auctioneers Act 2014, unless a specific exemption applies, statutory warranties must be provided by motor dealers to protect consumers from purchasing defective vehicles. 12.01.2022 Fair Trading Queensland is cracking down on odometer tampering in response to a rise in consumer complaints in recent months. 22 complaints about individuals falsely representing the mileage on a vehicle have been submitted in Queensland this year, 17 of which are currently under investigation.
