22.01.2022 DAY 3: MOUNT ELIZABETH STATION - ELLENBRAE STATION (139 km) Happy 'hump day' Gibbsters. Day 3 is a very special stage through God's Country, with stunning vista...s, river crossings and some killer jump ups to climb and descend. Woo Hoo! If you believe the topo.........it's down hill all the way! Hump Day's another big day in the saddle at a tickle under 140 kilometres, but riding through the East Kimberley is worth every pedal stroke. Shut up legs. Arrival at Ellenbrae is a real camping treat, just like camping should be. Wash off the dust in Ringer's Waterhole or if you're feeling a little precious, stoke the wood fired 'donkey' for a steaming hot shower. After pitching your tent or throwing the swag, we gather at bottom camp for another impossibly delicious dinner treat from the Bloody Heroic Volunteers, before the sweet dulcet tones of Ian 'Voice of the Gibb' Cocker ushers in another night under the stars...............magic. #worththewait Special shout out to Logan and Larissa - hope you're safe and well. Please save some scones for the dusty peloton in 2021.

19.01.2022 DAY 2: IMINTJI - MOUNT ELIZABETH STATION (116 KM) This ought to have been our first morning roused from swags by the thumping roar of the gennies. At a sparrow'...s fart, the Bloody Heroic Volunteers (BHV) prepare breakfast, serve lunches, break camp and get us organised into the four group starts; SOLOISTS/DUALISTS; THE QUICK TEAMS; THE SLOW TEAMS and THE ALMOST FAST TEAMS........it ain't as complicated as I've made it appear. A great night's sleep under a million stars. A spectacular sunrise with the King Leopold Ranges as a backdrop. Mate, let's get this adventure going...........and then your arse touches the saddle..........WTF?! Did some jovial trickster replace your bike seat with an echidna dipped in napalm? It's another stellar day through God's Country with Mount Elizabeth Station at the finish line. We were due to meet new camp manager Lorraine this year, but that introduction will just have to wait until next year. If you're a Kimberley Gibbster keen to get some me-time on The Gibb - Mount Elizabeth Station is OPEN. #worththewait

19.01.2022 I reckon there were more than a few Gibbsters last night, gathered around an outdoor fire with a couple of mates, friends or family, wishing we were at 'The Spi...ni' in Derby - getting ready for our life defining Kimberley adventure. Saturday night ought to have been the compulsory 'Team Registration and Safety Briefing' at the Spinnifex Hotel. Hey, listening to me rabbiting on about hydration, mosquitoes, dust and team transitions was never intended to be the most exciting 60 minutes of your life.........but we'd have been with a couple hundred of our newest bestest friends, raring to have a crack at The Gibb. While there ain't no cure for GWS - Gibb Withdrawal Syndrome........I hope these few photos from last year offer some relief until the dusty peloton reforms next year. #worththewait Huge shout out Emanuel, Ken and the team at 'The Spini'. Kimberley mob, if you're travelling about God's Country from Monday - make sure you call in and say G' day! Grab an ice cold one and celebrate being in the most spectacular part of our great country.

18.01.2022 Thanks to Joel and the team at BDM Leather & Canvas, my fattie made the trip to Rotto and back without any fuss.....no sea spray and no scratches. #fatbikes #bdmleather

10.01.2022 AusCycling Fat Bike National Championships course lookin’ freakin’ awesome.

09.01.2022 Rolling larger than 3.8 Noice.

09.01.2022 DAY 5: HOME VALLEY STATION - EL QUESTRO (50 KM) Leaving the best to last, ELQ - the world acclaimed million acre wilderness is just fifty kilometres down the tr...ack.......that's like being next door in a Kimberley way. (Kimberley mob - hyper extend lower jaw and purse your bottom lip in the direction of intended travel.) The dusty peloton enjoys a bit of a sleep in on our last day - a small concession to the bawdy exuberances of our night of celebrations at Home Valley's Dusty Bar and Grill. The Group Starts are forgotten and teams are invited to head off at their own leisurely pace, ablaze with fancy dress........or occasionally, not even a stitch. Crossing the iconic Pentecost River Crossing is a bucket-list experience on the Gibb River Road. For the 4WD adventure seekers, it's a low range crawl with the hubs locked. On a bike though, it's just apply the death grip to the handlebars and surge on through........... Technically the Gibb River Road terminates at Victoria Highway, but most Gibbsters pause at the ELQ's sign for the obligatory team photo before setting sights for the Swinging Arm Bar. It would have been another big night of celebrations with ELQ's attentive hospitality, a ripper barbecue feast and live music. Oh my gosh I'm suffering severe GWS - Gibb Withdrawal Syndrome. #worththewait

05.01.2022 DAY 1: DERBY - IMINTJI COMMUNITY (228 KM) Today would have been a tortuous day in the saddle with easterly winds gusting to 30 kph........a silver lining to the... postponement of this year's event if ever there was one! Day 1 is always a yodel-fest. Tough for the teams, tough too for the Dualists but the Soloists suffer more than any Gibbster. Just when you finally get out of the relentless headwinds - it's time to start climbing! Ouch. The dusty peloton first stumbled across the warm hospitality of Imintji several years ago, when a monster wet season kept us out of Silent Grove (Bell Gorge) campsite. We sought refuge on their forecourt, along fence lines and access tracks. Anywhere to pitch a tent, roll a swag or stow the trailers. Iminjti have now developed an incredible large scale campground more than suited to swallowing our rolling circus. The grounds not only provide an alternative income stream for the community, but will create vocational training and employment opportunities for generations to come. Here's some pics from last year's Hot, Dry and Windy edition of The Gibb Challenge to stave your GWS - Gibb Withdrawal Syndrome. #worththewait

05.01.2022 MTBA Fat Nat Champs. Save the date and become Australia’s next Fat Bike National Champion.

05.01.2022 DAY 4: ELLENBRAE STATION - HOME VALLEY STATION (106 KM) G' day Gibbsters; past, present and potential. Welcome to your daily dose of a virtual Gibb tour to alle...viate your GWS - Gibb Withdrawal Syndrome. This stage is my absolute favourite of all the daily stages. It's a pearler from the first pedal stroke, crossing the Durack River, smashing Rollie's Jump Up and screaming down Gregory's before another dunking in Bindoola Creek..........then the kicker, a 200 foot climb to the Lookout and those sensational panoramic views of the Cockburn Ranges. Shut up - just look at that. #worththewait When you've soaked in the views for all they're worth, point the tredlie downhill for a thrilling 2 kilometre gravity assisted romp to The Promised Lands - Home Valley Station. At HV8 we're greeted with a resort pool, fully licensed bar, luxurious grass campgrounds, laundry facilities, more hot showers than you can point a dusty cyclist at.........and flushing dunnies - not a thunder box to be seen! This is party night on The Gibb Challenge - overindulge with good food, warm hospitality, great company and a maybe a couple too many brewskies. Tomorrow's a lazy 50 kilometre stage, so maybe we can stay up a little late and join the Tractor Party?

04.01.2022 DAY 6: EL QUESTRO - DAY OF REST AND EXPLORATION Friday is a designated day of rest and exploration for Gibbsters, with plenty to do in the million acre wildern...ess of El Questro. The Royal Australian Navy started the wonderful tradition of a cooked breakfast following 'The Gibb' that we keep alive each year, Shanghai'ing our charity partners onto the barbecue plates to serve bacon, eggs and just about everything else left in the trailers. There's a host of activities at ELQ; early morning horse rides; helicopter rides; gorge treks, Zebedee Springs thermal soak, hell-fishing or 4WD adventures. Heaven forbid and you want to get your arse back on a bike, there's plenty to see from the (dis)comfort of your bike. Branko's Lookout is a deadset pearler and you'd be mad to leave ELQ without a sunset trip up there; a bottle of red wine, some choice (baby cheeses - cue Kath & Kim) cheeses and great company - what's not to love? The Bloody Heroic Volunteers are toasted for the freakin' legends they are at the BHV Luncheon, served on the banks of the Pentecost River. I tend to have nine or ten drinks too many......and can't remember much more of the day........but somehow find myself in awesome company at the Steakhouse Restaurant, devising suitable penalties for people who insist on wearing headlamps in camp - THWACK! I know we were all gutted this year's Gibb was postponed.......I share your GWS - Gibb Withdrawal Syndrome. All registered (paid) participants in this year's Gibb Challenge will receive a fully transferrable credit to the 2021 campaign. Your team is a walk up start - no nomination jitters for your mob. SAVE THE DATE - Sunday 16th MAY - Friday 21st MAY, 2021 #worththewait

04.01.2022 GIBB CHALLENGE 2019. Many of you riders may have noticed "droney" buzzing around during the event. Sorry I haven't really released any of this prior, but here... we go anyway. HUGE KUDOS to fellow rider Shaun "Rocket" O'Donnell for letting me get my hands on "droney" for the first time over this event. Everyone get a glimpse of Andy Garlepp and my views of the Kimberley. Hope to see you again soon Gibbsters. Was a pleasure to shoot you guys.

02.01.2022 Reminder - the 2021 AusCycling Fat Bike National Championships are this Friday the 14th of May. Cable Beach Broome Western Australia. Registrations are still open... https://entryboss.cc/races/7068

01.01.2022 G' day Gibbsters past, present and potential. I'm gutted this year's event has been postponed but you know what? The Kimberley has been around for about 60 mill...ion years so it's likely to still be there, in all its magnificence next year. #worththewait Yesterday we would have crowned the 2020 MTBA Fat Bike National Champion - a cheeky prologue stage race event to properly welcome you mob to Broome with the Cable Beach Sundowner. Special shout out to the Department Local Government, Sport & Cultural Industries, Shire of Broome and Yawuru for their support. Here's a few photos from last year's event to ease your GSW - Gibb Withdrawal Syndrome.

01.01.2022 It is with a heavy (heavy) heart that I have decided to postpone the 2020 edition of The Gibb Challenge. Please accept my profound apologies for the disappointm...ent and inconvenience this decision imposes upon you and your team. The decision was not made lightly and included earnest discussions with the many valued stakeholders that make this annual event possible. 2020 was shaping up to be another incredible life defining Kimberley adventure and I share your disappointment that the event could not proceed as planned. Ultimately the rapidly escalating threat posed by Coronavirus COVID-19 offered no alternative but to take this decision. The health of our event participants, our valued venue hosts and the communities connected to the Gibb River Road remained a primary consideration, so while I never wanted to make this decision..it really was a no brainer.

01.01.2022 LATE REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED 1100 - 1400 hours Friday 14th May, 2021 Cable Beach Amphitheatre... Race Briefing 1500 hours Race Start 1530 hours

01.01.2022 G’ day Gibbsters Pearce off Jack. Gibb’s on.... No plans whatsoever to cancel or postpone The Gibb Challenge. Yeah sure, I’ll make sure there’s extra hand wash and sanitiser ordered.......and you really ought to bring your own dunny paper because I was never packing extra. Keep the training up. Hammer the fundraising and start getting excited ‘cause we’re just eight weeks away from our bloody awesome adventure.
