25.01.2022 From our HBA secretary Terry Stephen, Dear Members, The latest round of Covid restrictions, which precluded all sporting activities, are due to end at midnight on Monday 30th November 2020.... Bowls activities can resume as of Tuesday 1st December 2020. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday pennant matches will all resume this week - as can practice and other club activities. Please note however that there are some ongoing restrictions - the most significant being the density requirements. The 1 person per four square metre rule has been reinstated for the time being for all indoor venues. All patrons consuming alcohol indoors must be seated. This will signficantly impact all indoor activities - including bar use, and seating capacities for afternoon breaks during matches. There will also be new requirements about keeping tracing records, and displaying a QR code to enable tracing by mobile phone apps. I understand that the 1 person per two square metre rule will apply outdoors, and that patrons consuming alcohol outdoors need not be seated. Each club should receive an official email from the government over the coming days setting out the requirements. Please read that carefully to ensure that your club complies with the rules, and keeps club and community members safe. A further reminder about other HBA events. - The Schroeder Shield and Talunga Shield are due to be held on Sunday 20th December 2020. Full details and nomination forms are available on the HBA website. Please ensure that all nominations are provided to the selectors no later than 12th December 2020. The Talunga Shield is open to all players who have played no more than TWO Saturday Division I matches prior to the event. - The HBA Champ of Champ events kick off on Friday 8th January 2021, with Lenswood Bowling Club hosting the triples. That is only five weeks away, so clubs should ensure that they press ahead with playing their club championship matches now that the Covid restrictions have been eased.
