24.01.2022 We wanted to send out a thank you to all of our wonderful, caring clients who stop and pick up injured wildlife and bring them in for assessment and treatment. Once they have been assessed by our vets they are then handed to our awesome wildlife carers for rehabilitation and release. Please PM Deb Nye-chart for details if you are interested.

23.01.2022 Colic season is upon us! With the weather changing and the grass finally starting to grow, now is the time to consider having your horse(s) stomach tubed to assist with moving excess sand from the stomach. Throughout the month of June we are offering 10% off stomach tubing performed here at the clinic or at the time of another procedure. ... Another thing to consider is feeding your horse a course of Psylium each month as this can also help to remove sand from their stomach. Please feel free to ask any questions by calling our friendly team on 9851 1177

23.01.2022 PATIENT OF THE MONTH The beautiful boy pictured below is Jaxon. A couple of weeks ago now Jaxon was quickly brought to us by his vigilant owners after he was found with blood in his mouth and a bit wobbly. ... Upon arrival Jaxon was in a critical condition. He was unconscious, not breathing very well and then went into cardiac arrest. Our fast acting team administered emergency treatment and were able to re-start his heart and quickly worked to try and stabilise him. After two doses of anti - venom and a few hours of ventilation he slowly began to regain consciousness. Jaxon was a fighter having been born and bred in the Kimberley and by the afternoon he was able to stand up and walk around!! He was discharged to his loving family the following day after being given a clean bill of health. This beautiful boy is an absolute miracle dog and his survival is a credit to his quick thinking owners.

11.01.2022 We aim to help make your pets visit to us a happy experience. Our model Tess is wearing one of our bandanas that has been sprayed with a product called Adaptil. Adaptil is a calming pheromone we may use to help your dog feel more comfortable in situations where they may feel anxious. We spray it onto a bandana which is carefully placed around your pets neck so that they can smell the pheromone. ... For cats we use a pheremone called Feliway and spray it onto a blanket which is placed in their house with them to snuggle into. To help minimise stress during your pets visit to us we separate cats and dogs into different wards in the clinic, keep the radio on for some calming background noise, take our time when handling your pet to ensure they are comfortable with us, offer treats where possible and use calming pheromones. If you would like to know more about the steps we take to be a fear free clinic please ask our friendly team when you book your next appointment

08.01.2022 We would all like to take a minute to congratulate our fearless leader Miles Nye-Chart on 30 years, 360 months, 1564.29 weeks and 10950 days of dedicated service to the veterinary industry. There is not many of us that can say we have dedicated that many years to one profession let alone one place of work!! Miles is always the one to brighten the staff’s busy days with deliveries of ice-creams or snacks even though he is most likely the one that has been working in the heat... all day and we have most likely added another 5 horses, 2 cows, 1 alpaca and a chicken to his already busy day. I am sure our clients are all with us in saying that we would be lost without Miles and his positive, caring attitude and dedication to his clients, patients and staff!

05.01.2022 Watching the body language of a dog is super important when it comes to interactions with dogs that are unknown to you (and even those that you know quite well). Never just assume that a dog wants to be patted- ask them first. And if they say no, respect their decision. It's a privilege, not a right. This video is an excellent demonstration of body language in dogs being asked if they want to be patted. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-hsOlJwMwps&feature=youtu.be
