25.01.2022 Winner of the Australian Geographic "Australian Adventurer of the Year', Michael Smith, was in the Buckland Valley today. He also made an appearance in Bright.

25.01.2022 We have long been keen to extend the YMBT runway to better serve emergency services (fire fighting and ambulance) requirements as well as making it a bit easier for everyone to land on Runway 32. We are pleased to report that the land for such an extension transferred to the Shire earlier this year. We are expecting it to be fenced in the next few weeks and we will then be able to add 150 meters of undershoot/overshoot to the north end of the runway. Further extensions will require significant fill and drainage but we are actively seeking funding to begin that work. We'll let you know as this progresses.

24.01.2022 The Mt Beauty Gliding Club have arranged for a defibrillator to be installed at the airport terminal, but we need to have more people trained to use it. If you are willing then please contact Peter Deane on 0418 591 351 or [email protected]

21.01.2022 Last Sunday at Mount Beauty Airport

20.01.2022 Last Saturday, 25 November, locals and visitors had the opportunity to talk with pilots about their aircraft at the Mount Beauty 'Gathering of the Moths' Fly-In.

20.01.2022 Mount Beauty 'Gathering of the Moths' Fly-In Volunteers play important roles in communities. Our sincere thanks to the Mount Beauty Fire Brigade members, all volunteers, who kindly spent the day with us on Saturday at the 'Gathering of the Moths' Fly-In. Locals and visitors were able to 'get up close' to the fire trucks and talk with the Fire Brigade members about their roles, trucks and equipment.

19.01.2022 During the 'Gathering of the Moths', there was an early morning Fly-Out on Saturday, 25 November, 2017. A briefing session was held prior to the fly-out. Thanks to Col for facilitating the fly-out.

13.01.2022 If you are planning on flying to YMBT this coming weekend (16-17 November) and the weekend after (23-24 November) then please be aware that there are events happening that may involve aircraft that are slow moving and may be without radios. On 16-17 Nov, there will be various kinds of lightweight machines like paramotors and powered parachutes operating in the vicinity of the airfield. They are most likely to be operating when wind conditions are most stable - i.e. early morning and late afternoon and most will not have radios so watch carefully for them. On 23-24 Nov, there are likely to be 10-15 aircraft attending a flyin by the Antique Aircraft Association. If any of these aircraft are in the circuit when you arrive then be cautious as they may be flying very slowly!

12.01.2022 The Gathering of the Moths flyin is taking a break for 2018. There will be no formal program on the planned date of Saturday 24th November 2018 but individuals or groups are welcome to visit with us either that day or any other day for that matter.

10.01.2022 Thanks, again, to Alpine Radio for broadcasting live throughout the day from the 'Gathering of the Moths' on Saturday, 25 November, 2017.

09.01.2022 On Monday there was six hangars at YMBT and today there are eleven. The walls had been assembled on the ground and yesterday Tony Gentile had a crane in to erect all five hangars in only a few hours. There is still finishing to do but they are well on the way!

05.01.2022 We have the land to extend the YMBT runway and have begun to level the area to the north end of the runway, but we don't yet have the money to do more substantial work. The Liberals are proposing to re-introduce their Regional Aviation Infrastructure Fund with $24M over four years. We'll be applying if they get in!

05.01.2022 Work is now complete on pads for five additional hangars at YMBT. Vehicle access will initially be via the apron but drive slowly <30km/hr and watch for aircraft and/or doors opening. Our next project is to divert the roadway behind the hangars and we hope to start this in the spring.
