23.01.2022 With the rain staying away, we took the better prices and sold a third of our older steers, now we can lighten all our steers paddocks and spell them after they carried the majority of our breeders last year.

21.01.2022 Some photos of our steers taken at Mort & Co's Grassdale feedlot back in February. Last year’s dry conditions meant that for the very first time we made the decision to sell the entire year’s drop as store steers, barring a few we had hoped would be show steers. These 170 steers entered Grassdale in two different loads in late November and early December just as the dry bit hard and we needed their paddocks to carry the breeders with calves at foot. The steers arrived with... an average liveweight of 401kg being predominantly milk tooth with around a 1/3 of the steers being two tooth. The steers performed well over 114 days on feed with an average daily gain of 2kg (70% of them gaining over 2kg/day). The lead steer gained an incredible 2.47kg.day. They finished dressing out at an average of 352kg HSCW with an average 15mm P8 fat. Many thanks to Jack Wilkinson of Mort & Co for this feedback. A pleasure to deal with you again Jack.

20.01.2022 While we wait wait for La Niña the decision was made to start lightening off, first to go cull bulls and cows

11.01.2022 Grandkids home for the weekend..their turn to do the lick run. It is as dry as we have seen it here in the 47 years that Carli has called Mt Brisbane home. Half the steers were sold to Mort & Co last week, only the second time we have sold store steers. The rest of the steers will be going in a fortnight also to Mort and Co. Breeders all moving into bullock paddocks. New bores sunk in paddocks to shore up water supplies. Dams are cleaned out, bulls have gone out, we are ready for the big wet One day closer

Have a look on the page for a preview of some of the auction items on offer, funds raised go back into the camp.
