04.01.2022 9 JANUARY 2020 UPDATE ON FIRE RISK This is the Mt Buller & Mt Stirling update for Thursday, 9 January 2020.... Tomorrow, Friday 10 January 2020, is forecast to be a day of elevated fire risk and a Total Fire Ban has been declared. There is a high chance of dry lightning in the afternoon, and gusty S to SW winds are forecast In relation to the fires near the Resorts; DELWP crews have undertaken aerial imaging and repel crews have been flown into the spot fires to assess for hot spots. There is currently no running edge and aircraft will bomb any hot spots detected and continue to work in the area. Extensive containment lines have been established along with improved road and helipad access so the area can be quickly accessed if needed, particularly on Friday when the fire risk is expected to increase. The sky and air are less smoky today, however we have been advised that we should expect smoke to persist. The Resorts remain closed to the public while the Victorian Government’s State of Disaster Declaration remains in force. While the Resorts are closed to the public, Mirimbah Gate Entry is manned to provide public information and control access. A Community Information Session has been arranged for Monday, 13/1/20 at 5:30PM at the Mansfield Performing Arts Centre. Click here for details.
