24.01.2022 Dear Tennis Community, We were a little shocked by the press conference on Sunday announcing that tennis clubs are to remain closed under Step 2. This announcement did not align with expectations that tennis clubs were going to re-open from Monday 28th as a form of outdoor exercise under a COVID safe plan. It is said that all parties involved in the lobbying were in agreement, the meeting during the week outlined the anticipated go ahead. At the last minute, apparently, clubs... like tennis and golf did not get the tick from the Health Department - which has now caused backlash from tennis coaches and community as a whole. Our last hope to have them reconsider the stance, as personal training/playgrounds/pools all got the tick (like we did last in line with PT's last time in Stage 3) is with our community petition. If we can get everyone involved in tennis to sign, family members, friends and connections - we can then send it on to the local MPs who will follow it up with the Health Department as an alternative form of lobbying for our firm belief of safe opening under this step. We are now asking communities such as ours to get this to go viral, it is possible as the fitness and beauty industry successfully petitioned for their new dates. We are petitioning for tennis to return before October 19 (as even then, who knows what restrictions will actually be eased if we thought we were to open yesterday) I have attached the link to the petition below, it is very simple - just a name adds to the tally, we need over 15 thousand for consideration - we are already over 2500 in 48 hours! Sign, share, spread and have a voice. SIGN THE PETITION HERE: http://chng.it/PkfVj7WCv8 Stay positive, we will see you all very soon. Kind Regards, Mt Carmel Tennis Club

24.01.2022 Two new juniors working on their serve before 9am this morning, great dedication.

20.01.2022 Dear Mt. Carmel Tennis Club Community, Please read below the latest new from Tennis Victoria. Thanks - Committee... Tennis Victoria Update re Victorian Government Roadmap Dear Affiliates, Following State Government's announcement of the COVID-19 Recovery Roadmap, staff at Tennis Victoria have been in constant communication with Government to gain clarity on what the Roadmap means for tennis. We are now able to share the following updates: METRO MELBOURNE Stage 4 restrictions have been extended to 28 September 2020. Tennis activity is not permitted during this time. We are advocating hard for a return to play from 28 September, but do not yet have confirmation of this from Government. We will update you as soon as we know more. REGIONAL VICTORIA From midnight Monday 14 September, tennis can be played in groups of up to five participants from no more than two households. What does this mean for tennis? - Singles play with a member of your household or another household. - Doubles play with three other participants from your household or one other household. - Small group coaching with up to five members from two households We have asked Government for clarity on the total numbers allowed at tennis venues but are yet to receive confirmation. Therefore, for now, the cap of 10 patrons for tennis venues must remain in place. We will advise you of any changes to this as soon as we hear from Government.

15.01.2022 Dear Mt. Carmel Tennis Club Community, Please see the message below from Tennis Victoria following today's announcements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------... Dear affiliates, Like you, we are extremely disappointed by Premier Daniel Andrews announcement that all tennis facilities are to remain closed as we move to Step 2 of the Government's COVID-19 Recovery Roadmap. We firmly believe that tennis, a physically distanced non-contact sport, can return safely to provide health and wellbeing opportunities to support people through isolation and to provide our coaches with much needed income. We know today's news will be very hard to hear, and especially for coaches who need to get businesses back up and running. We are considering our next steps and will continue to advocate for the safe return of tennis in Metropolitan Melbourne. In the meantime, we recommend that every tennis club and coaching business ensures its COVIDSafe Plan is in place so that when we do get the green light to reopen you will be ready to share your plans with local councils. This is likely to be a requirement of reopening. Resources to help with COVIDSafe planning are available here and we are here to help as much as possible during this very challenging time. Kind Regards Tennis Victoria

10.01.2022 A MESSAGE FROM THE NSJTA SEASON CANCELLED I regret to advise that the NSJTA Match Committee has decided to cancel the Season 2, 2020 competition.... The recently released State Government Coronavirus (COVID-19) roadmap to reopening indicates community sport is unlikely to be able to resume until 26 October 2020 at the earliest. Even if we are allowed to begin from that date, there are likely to be gathering limits and other requirements that would impact our competition. The Committee’s priority is the health and safety of our players, and we believe it is important to wait until we can ensure we have all necessary COVID-safe precautions in place before returning to competition tennis. We have therefore decided the most appropriate way forward is to cancel Season 2, 2020 and focus our attention on 2021. We will be in contact in coming weeks about team entry arrangements and timelines for next year. We hope everyone stays safe, and look forward to returning to the court in 2021. Regards, Robert McDonald Secretary

02.01.2022 TENNIS IN METRO MELBOURNE IS SAFER THAN OUR CURRENT EXERCISE ALLOWED IN PARK AND PLAYGROUNDS! SHARE! Anyone work for or friendly with any lines of communication of local sport in Vic government? Please share or put me in contact to have a chat! Last lockdown, tennis private lessons aligned their opening with standard personal training. This would now be the Monday, 28th Sept 2020 on the Vic roadmap. ... We would like to plead this to be the case once again. A fair compromise rather than the whole sport and all courts opening would be allowing tennis coaching (personal training) with the official coach in 1:1 and or 1:2 private lessons. This would stimulate another safe industry for the economy’s rebuild. Every safe service reopening is of circular benefit. I just wish the relative stats were considered in regards to tennis being safer than going for a jog.. better yet it is safer than playgrounds which have already reopened. Please share and advocate for tennis to restart safely. https://www.texmed.org/TexasMedicineDetail.aspx?id=53977

02.01.2022 Dear Mt. Carmel TC Community, Please see the latest information following from today's announcement by the State Government which allows us to reopen from Friday the 11th of June. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The latest restrictions for Victoria relating to community tennis in Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria are as follows:... Metropolitan Melbourne: - Training/coaching can resume for all ages subject to the density quotient of 1 person per 4sqm (this means we can have 4 players per court comfortably) - 25km limit applies to those attending a tennis venue (unless for work purposes) - Venue capacity limit of 100 people - Maximum group sizes of 10 (this will relate more to coaching groups with a coach present) - Competitions and tournaments are not permitted - Clubhouses are only to be accessed for toilets or equipment (all players can access the toilet, coaches can access equipment, one person can open and close the clubrooms and turn lights on / off as required) - Get in, train, get out (make sure that everyone signs in either with the QR code or manually) - All indoor tennis centres are to remain closed. Thanks, Mt. Carmel TC Committee https://www.revolutionise.com.au/mtcarmeltc/home/
