16.01.2022 GASTRO CASES SPIKE AMONG CHILDREN | NSW Health is urging parents and carers to keep young children at home if they are sick amid a rise in viral gastro cases. I...nfants or children in childcare or school who develop vomiting or diarrhoea should stay at home for at least 48 hours after their symptoms have stopped. The warning has been prompted by an increase in gastroenteritis outbreaks at childcare centres across the state and a high number of children aged under 5 seeking treatment at emergency departments. The main treatment for viral gastroenteritis is to rest and drink plenty of fluids. Most people recover without complications, however gastro can be serious for infants, people with suppressed immune systems and the elderly. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//gastroen/Pages/default.aspx

10.01.2022 Emergency Plan!! Tomorrow is expected to be a pretty rotten day as far as fire risk is concerned. We just wanted to confirm that preschool will be open tomorrow. We have heard that some schools might be closed tomorrow, and that is a matter for them to consider in their particular circumstances. At present we don’t think that closing the preschool is warranted. While there aren’t currently any fires around in our immediate vicinity, things can change really quickly. With ...strong winds forecast, there is a risk that fires will not only impact homes and work but getting around on heavily congested roads is likely to be difficult and roads are one of the most dangerous places to be during fires. For others, just poor air quality may present its own issues too. There are certainly a lot of things to think about as you figure out how you are going to respond to the circumstances. For whatever reason, if you prefer to keep your children at home tomorrow then please just let us know, that way we can plan our day and our staffing arrangements. We expect that the children’s day will be largely spent inside tomorrow and aside from that, normal programming will be in place. We will keep an eye on advice from emergency services, and should we need to close or evacuate we will let you know. [MC] Our primary evacuation/assembly point will be the vacant block at the corner of Bolton Ave and Kuring-Gai Chase Road. Depending on circumstances, an alternative assembly point will be Berry Park Oval off Myall Road. Keep an eye on Educa. This will be our primary means of communication with you. The phones won’t work if we lose power at preschool. You will still be able to contact us via Educa, or on the following mobile number: 0412619236 Jemima If we need to call you, it will most likely be from a number that you won’t recognise, so please pick up. For information on fires in your area please make sure you have downloaded the Fires Near Me NSW app onto your phone and set up a Watch Zone to monitor your local area and receive alerts. Hopefully tomorrow will be uneventful for both you and for preschool. Certainly give pause to think of those many others who are currently being affected and reflect too on your fire plan over the coming days.
