19.01.2022 This is our Karen. Stationed at busy Station 073 Yennora, our Karen doesnt need to be told to wear her mask and the only video she is in at Bunnings is when sh...e is fundraising for the Firies Climb for Motor Neurone Disease and the only time she demands to speak to the manager is to compliment them. We love our Karen and all the wonderful Karens we serve in the community. See more

19.01.2022 We have been getting a lot of questions regarding a push across social media to tie red or orange ribbons to mailboxes to show appreciation for Firefighters. Whilst we appreciate any tribute to our firefighters, Fire and Rescue NSW are not behind any official call to place ribbons anywhere. We encourage anyone who has a Static Water Supply (pool, dam, large water tank) to instead fix a SWS sign to their mailbox or front fence. You can get an SWS sign from our local fire stati...on or otherwise write it on your fence or mailbox and our crews will know they can access this water supply should they need to. Thank you to everyone who is thinking of us, sending their thanks and words of support, we really appreciate it and it means a lot

17.01.2022 Clouds, humidity and scorching sun couldnt stop us from todays cordage drill. With a combined effort from Blacktown and Mount Druitt we successfully rescued our casualty from a variety of scenarios. Going over the edge of a building never felt so easy when youre in the safe hands of these guys. Continually practicing our skills, knowing and understanding the equipment we use along with great teamwork makes any problem easy to solve.... #frnsw #drill #firefighters #cordage #ropes #rescue #firetruck #skills #teamwork #support #archer #onrope #mountdruitt #blacktown @ Fire and Rescue NSW Station 032 Mt Druitt See more

17.01.2022 After a big morning of "restowing" our appliance back to our Compressed Air Foam System we are finally heading out on a strike team to fight the mega fire. This appliance is specially designed for this type of fire and weather event. Our newest member of A platoon, Dan the Firefighter couldnt be happier to be helping the community.

12.01.2022 Wed like to praise our firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 017 Drummoyne for their brave actions and commitment to protecting the community at today...s stabbing incident in the Sydney CBD. Our crew and members of the public gave chase and detained the man before NSW Police Force attended the scene and arrested him. 11.01.2022 This morning crews from 032 Mount Druitt and 097 Huntingwood demonstrated what it takes to be fire fit for anyone interested in becoming a firefighter in this years recruitment campaign opening July 24th 2020. #preparedforanything #firefit #FRNSW

11.01.2022 Did you know? Teams of firefighters work together as a family for 24 hours, or more, at a time. Throughout the shift, their #1 priority is to be READY TO RESPOND. Whether they are sleeping, taking a shower, or buying groceries, firefighters are prepared to drop what they are doing anytime, anywhere. For this reason, you may see a truck at the grocery store, local restaurant, hardware store, or other retail establishment. Since eating at restaurants every day is cost prohibit...ive for firefighters, they choose to pool their money together each morning to buy groceries and cook their meals at the fire station. If youve ever been at the grocery store when a call comes in, youve probably witnessed the firefighters stash the shopping basket behind the deli counter, in the dairy cooler, or under the supervision of the butcher, asking, "will you please keep this to the side, well be back as soon as we can." There are several benefits to shopping around town. Children may get an impromptu tour of the Fire truck, crews are able to interact with the public, and the crews support local businesses. Additionally, there are plenty of times where the grocery store was closer to the scene of an emergency than the fire station. Since the entire crew shops together, they are READY TO RESPOND together with all of the life-saving tools and equipment youd expect! We hope that you have time to stop and say hi to your firefighters next time you see them. All too often, interaction with the public is limited to emergencies. As much as firefighters enjoy being there to help, it sure is nice to meet people under positive circumstances. Never hesitate to drop by the station to say hi. We love visitors! #MinutesMatter #therewhenyouneedus #PreparedForAnything

08.01.2022 18 years ago at 10:46 pm (AEST) we learnt of the horror unfolding in New York City. 2977 people who lost in their lives in these tragic events, of which 343 wer...e firefighters, 23 were New York City Police officers and 37 were officers of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Alongside firefighters and emergency services workers, we pause and pay our respects to those who we will never forget and we also think of those who are sick now or have since died due to their exposure to hazardous dusts and materials while operating at the site for many months after. 07.01.2022 Always great to engage the local community! Last week we visited KU childrens services in Hebersham to teach the youngsters about fire safety in the home & of course let them have a look around the truck!!

07.01.2022 Fire services use hydrants for a continuous flow of water which is vital to firefighting operations. A fire truck carries only enough water to make an initial fire attack. In the first minutes of a fire emergency a continuous water supply from the water mains must be accessed through at a hydrant. In every fire emergency, getting a hydrant to work is one of a firefighters priorities. Accessing a hydrant without delay ensures that firefighters who are already inside a b...urning building tasked with search and rescue or attacking the fire can continue for as long as required. Today whilst checking some local hydrants, we came across this; a hydrant covered over by a garden bed! Maintain your hydrants Keep the area around the hydrant clear of any grass, vegetation, gardens, rubbish and dirt. 30cm around the hydrant cover is adequate. Dont place large heavy objects on top or next to the surface fitting. Ensure no one parks over the hydrant at any time. HELP us to HELP you
