14.01.2022 MPB Inc Match Committee COVID-19 Update As you all know there are currently Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions in place in Victoria that do not allow participation i...n our much loved sport in the Mornington Peninsula Bowls Inc division (soon to be Region). We hope, like yourselves, that these restrictions will result in a large reduction in the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Victoria and allow a further round of reduced restrictions which will eventually allow our upcoming pennant, state events, twilight leagues and women’s only events to start as scheduled. Because of the volatility of the situation in Victoria we cannot reliably plan for the future however we can attempt to predict a few different scenarios that are most likely to occur involving our sport for which we can be prepared and then manage a suitable outcome for the member clubs on the Peninsula and their players. Pennant Calendar Scenario 1 - Saturday Pennant start on Sat 31 October 2020 and Midweek Pennant start on Tue 4 Nov 2020 as currently scheduled. Scenario 2 - Saturday Pennant start on or close to Sat 5 Dec 2020 and Midweek Pennant start on or close to Tue 8 Dec 2020 and complete 14 rounds. Scenario 3 - Saturday Pennant start on Sat 9 Jan 2021 and Midweek Pennant start on Tue 12 Jan 2021 and complete 14 rounds with the finals in early May. Scenario 4 - if we get a severely interrupted season, that a seven (7) round competition plus finals be played. Pennant Format We are confident that when there is a reduction in the restrictions 32 players will be allowed to play on a green, however if a lesser number is permitted we would look to re-format the competition to match what we can have on the greens. We have considered a variety of different formats and, if required, will announce them when we have a clearer indication of allowable numbers. Once the season starts with a format, the whole season will continue to completion with that format. State Events In the event that the State Events cannot start on the scheduled date or are severely interrupted, there is the possibility that the ‘Calendar of Events’ for the qualifying rounds and Finals will be compressed to get the events completed in time for the State Titles. The participants may be required to play the events at alternate times than otherwise scheduled i.e. in the evenings, on public holidays and even ‘extra’ games on a game day. Availability of venues could be critical along with compliance with social distancing. Adherence to a flexible schedule is paramount. Looking forward with eager anticipation to having everyone back on the green enjoying club representative pennant bowls and the challenge of state events. In the meantime Keep Safe and Healthy, The Mornington Peninsula Bowls Match Committee

06.01.2022 Dear Member Clubs, We first must say that we are very aware of the impact of Covid-19 on our community and feel a great deal of empathy towards individuals and ...clubs. These are tough times. Our thoughts are with anyone who is unwell, and we wish them a speedy recovery. The damage caused by Covid-19 worldwide is nothing short of horrific. In a financial sense, we hope all clubs and members don’t experience hardship, but that’s not the reality and we too have friends/family who have been stood down from work and clubs impacted. We know this will be felt by many. As you are aware, the BV Board set the 2020-21 affiliation fee at no increase on last year, with extended payment terms and an expanded hardship program before the 2nd wave of COVID-19. What we had hoped, was that we would be back playing by now. Unfortunately, that’s not the case and we have seen more damaging lockdowns with Stage 4 in Metropolitan Melbourne and Stage 3 in Regional Victoria. We appreciate how hard this situation is on our member clubs and are looking to our State Government for financial assistance. Our position after our Board meeting today is to see what the State Government announcement will be once the current Government-enforced lockdown is reviewed in mid-September. We are hopeful that by that time we will have a clearer picture on the impact to the 2020-21 season. The Board’s intention is to reduce affiliation fees for this year in line with the impact to the season and the measures that some other states have undertaken. Naturally the detail is fluid given the current situation which we are watching closely. We have also resolved today to waive any payment for Pennant Permits this coming season as we know many bowlers will be having difficulties travelling from clubs to their homes due to border closures/restrictions. Please be patient with us, we want to make sure we are making the right decision and not constantly making subsequent decisions as the situation changes. Keep well and keep safe. President (on behalf of the BV Board)

02.01.2022 LATEST COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS The Board has been waiting all day to receive advice from Bowls Victoria and The Mornington Peninsula Shire about how the latest Stage 3 lockdown for 6 weeks, as advised by the State Premier and the Chief Victorian Health Officer (starting at mid-night tonight), will affect the sport of bowls. As at the time of writing this Notice to our Members, we have received no advice from either of these authorities ........ very surprising!... Due to the age profile of our Membership and the risk that the spread of the virus poses to our Members, the Board has decided, in view of the general requirements of the Stage 3 lockdown, to fully lockdown the Mount Eliza Bowling Club from mid-night tonight. Unfortunately, this will mean no organized Social Bowls or no roll-ups from mid-night tonight until advised further by your Board. When we are advised of changes to these regulations, we will promptly advise you accordingly. Please stay safe and healthy and remember to regularly visit the MEBC Facebook page and where you can, regularly phone your MEBC friends to check on their wellbeing during this challenging and crazy time for us all. Graham Henderson, Interim Chairman.

02.01.2022 MPB Pennant Season 2019-20 Preamble The MPB Pennant competition for season 2019-20 was almost completed but was severely interrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak an...d the restrictions placed on the playing of lawn bowls. On Monday 16th March 2020, the MPB Match Committee, in consultation with the MPB Board, advised the MPB clubs that all pennant matches, along with other proposed programs and events, were suspended ‘until further notice’. The Saturday and Midweek Grand Finals, and the Saturday Div 2 promotion playoff game, remained unplayed. The ‘COVID-19’ restrictions put in place by the Federal and Victorian Governments, Bowls Australia and Bowls Victoria, although now reduced to some degree, are still greatly impacting the lives of all Australian residents, and especially the playing of the sport of lawn bowls in Victoria. Over the past 10 weeks compliance with these restrictions was, and still is, essential to making sure the health and safety of the participating members of our member clubs is not compromised. This meant that the Grand Finals and promotion games were not able to be played during this period, and the time for a decision by MPB Inc regarding the next step(s) was rapidly approaching. Completion of Season 2019-20 That time has arrived and the following decisions have been made:- The Grand Finals for both Saturday and Midweek Pennant, and the Saturday Div 2 promotion playoff game, for season 2019-20 have been cancelled. The Premiership in each Division will be awarded to the side placed in the top position on the ladder and the Runners-Up awarded to the side placed in second position on the ladder, at the end of the 14 ‘home and away’ (sectional) rounds. Relegation to a lower division, will be assigned to the side placed in the bottom position (lowest ‘total points’) on the ladder at the end of the 14 ‘home and away’ (sectional) rounds. Excepting Saturday Divisions 2 North and South and Midweek Open Divisions 2A and 2B, promotion to a higher division, will be assigned to the side placed in the top position (highest ‘total points’) on the ladder (where practicable) at the end of the 14 ‘home and away’ (sectional) rounds. Saturday Divisions 2 North and South - promotion to Saturday Division 1 will be awarded to the ‘Mornington 1’ side which had the highest ‘total points’ across both Divisions 2 North and South, at the end of the 14 ‘home and away’ (sectional) rounds. Midweek Open Divisions 2A and 2B - promotion to Midweek Open Division 1 will be awarded to the ‘Rosebud Country Club 1’ side which, outside City of Frankston 2 which could not be promoted to Division 1, had the highest ‘total points’ across both Divisions 2A and 2B, at the end of the 14 ‘home and away’ (sectional) rounds The abnormal circumstances required a number of options to be considered, and it is acknowledged that any decision made was not going to please everyone. The option of playing the games pre-season 2020-21 was discounted as qualified players had in some instances moved clubs, and in other cases may not have been available in September, leading to a situation that clubs in Grand Finals may not have been able to have sufficient qualified players for that division. The abovementioned decisions have not been taken lightly and we would like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience during these unusual and special circumstances and times of immense uncertainty. Season 2020-21 As part of the planning for the season 2020-21, and subject to any COVID-19 ‘restrictions’ or other unforeseen circumstances, the MPB Match Committee wish to advise all clubs of the following important dates. Hopefully this will assist you in preparing your club’s calendar of events for the upcoming season. Women’s Only Pre-season (North and South) Duration 5 weeks plus finals Entries for Women’s Only pre-season close - Monday 6th Sept 2020 Start Dates for Women’s Only pre-season 2020-21:- South - Tues 15st Sep 2020 North - Wed 16th Sep 2020 Pennant Duration 14 weeks plus finals Entries for Pennant close - Monday 28th Sept 2020 Start Dates for Pennant season 2020-21:- Saturday Pennant - Sat 31st Oct 2020 Midweek Pennant - Wed 4th Nov 2020 Wed Twilight League (North and South) Duration 10 weeks plus finals Entries for Wed Twilight League close - Monday 8th Nov 2020 Start Date Wed Twilight League (North and South) - Wed 25th Nov 2020 regards, The Mornington Peninsula Bowls Match Committee
