24.01.2022 Siblings attending kindy: do you have all your children on our waiting lists? A reminder that if you have any children born after 1 July 2018 please make sure they are on our waiting list. The last year for the sibling policy is 2022. From 2023 the wait list will operate on a first come, first served basis, regardless of if you have had a sibling attend previously. 24.01.2022 Here we are almost at the end of another kindy year! The children made a wind chime from their pottery creations and it makes a beautiful noise fluttering in the kindy garden. We wish everyone happy holidays and look forward to welcoming new families to our community in 2019.

24.01.2022 Look who popped into kindy yesterday afternoon for a visit! This was shortly after children had left for the day. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful bushland setting with wildlife visitors on a regular basis.

23.01.2022 September is Koala Month and we have been celebrating these lovely creatures at kindy with a visit from Dr Sue, a veterinarian who explained how to care for koalas. We also had another koala visitor in the kindy trees last week, and when our families went on the annual Fathers Day walk up the mountain over the weekend, some children were lucky enough to see yet another koala. How lucky to share our unique environment with them!

23.01.2022 The children had a lovely morning in our new digging patch. Thank you to Ocean and Shona for sharing their knowledge to help make some bee hotels to put in our garden.

23.01.2022 The children have been taking advantage of the warm autumn days to do some gardening at kindy. Connecting to and caring for our kindy environment encourages children to develop a deeper understanding of our natural world.

21.01.2022 Refurbishment of kindy slide area: Many thanks to our kindy management committee who approved works to refurbish our slide and surrounds during the most recent school holidays. The children are delighted with the new slide and the opportunities for exploration around the new plantings. Special thanks to Andrew Gold Landscape Architects ... Andrew continues to be an invaluable supporter of kindy long after his children have left our centre.

Our 60th anniversary celebration; we are delighted with how many past teachers, parents and now grown-up children (from 20, 30, 40 years ago!) have said theyll be coming. Please dont forget to RSVP to [email protected] or if you cant come, please do support our raffle, there are heaps of great prizes.

20.01.2022 Bush dance 2019: What great fun all our families had at the Bush Dance held over the weekend! So lovely to see our community coming together to enjoy the sunshine and music. A big thank you to everyone who helped organise this special annual event. The fabulous music was provided by The Monroe Affair.

19.01.2022 RAFFLE: Please support our fundraising raffle to be drawn at our 60th anniversary event on Saturday 20 October: Prizes include: $300 Bunnings voucher; $60 Lorentis Fresh Food Market voucher; 60 minute private lesson at Movement Principle Pilates; $50 meal voucher for the Mt Gravatt Hotel; Deluxe Haircare pack from Just Cuts & gift baskets full of goodies! All funds raised will go towards the kindy playground redevelopment. Tickets: $2 each, or three tickets for $5. How to purchase: 1. 16.01.2022 It has been lovely to have most of our kindy children back with us since last week. They have enjoyed reconnecting with each other, exploring our amazing natural environment and taking on some new challenges!

14.01.2022 The kindy children were excited to have a special visitor from Bunnings this week. Pam helped the children to plant some vegetables and they are all looking forward to watching the new plantings grow. Thank you to Bunnings for their kind donations!

13.01.2022 Welcome to kindy 2020! It was a hot start to our year and we found the water play a popular space with our children. During our first week they enjoyed a story about A Dirty Dinosaur and then they all enjoyed recreating their own dirty dinosaurs outside in the mud tray.

12.01.2022 The children are fascinated by all the animals they find in our beautiful natural environment. So this week, we have been using a checklist of animals. In small groups, they have been searching for each animal, and marking when they find it. This has led to great excitement and detailed discussions about the birds, insects and lizards.

11.01.2022 Its only one week before our 60th anniversary wine and cheese celebration on Saturday 20 October. The evening will feature musical entertainment provided by our talented current parents, so come along and enjoy some tunes! 10.01.2022 Were back in the swing of things for another year at Mt Gravatt Community Kindergarten. Weve had one of our regular visitors back again too with a koala making its way across the playground while the children were here this week.

09.01.2022 Weve been lucky enough to have Beth visit us for a few weeks and she has been teaching the children how to breathe and relax with her special yoga classes designed for young children.

07.01.2022 The children engaged with the Indigenous Literacy Foundations Great Book Swap event by bringing in their favourite books to kindy to share with others in the group. We have been talking about and reviewing books with the children and this was a perfect opportunity to discuss how important books are in the lives of all children and how we can help other children discover reading and books. Our children were keen to add their coins to the fundraising event.

05.01.2022 Thank you! Oh what a night we had on Saturday celebrating Mt Gravatt Community Kindergartens 60th birthday. Thanks to one and all who attended we were delighted to see so many people return to the kindergarten of their childhood and to find their pictures in the class photographs we had displayed from the 1960s to the present. 04.01.2022 Refresh to our playground - thank you committee! The kindy children have been even more excited than usual to play outside this week as they enjoy our new "grass" in what used to be a very sandy area in front of the shed. Thanks to the hard work and generosity of our parent management committee this year and years past, they have funded this first part of stage 1 of our master plan for the playground. There are further plans afoot once grant monies have been obtained to do even more improvements to an already special outdoor space.

04.01.2022 Its National Volunteer Week, so wed like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers who have helped us over the past 60 years in all manner of roles from parents who spend the day sharing their skills and expertise with us, to parent committees and all those giving up their precious time to contribute to our community kindergarten.

02.01.2022 We are very lucky at Mt Gravatt Community Kindergarten to have so many wildlife visitors. Last week a kookaburra enjoyed a bath and then sat to dry off on the kindy verandah while the children carried on with their activities.
