24.01.2022 A Heart Health Check is a regular checkup performed by your doctor. It's a check that helps you to understand your risk factors for heart disease and estimate how likely you are to have a heart attack or stroke in the next five years. If it has been a while since your last heart health check, make it a priority. Make an appointment at our Medical Clinics.

23.01.2022 An Australian Defence Force (ADF) Prevention Team visited our aged care facilities in Ouyen and Sea Lake last week. ADF teams are visiting all residential aged care facilities without COVID-19 cases in rural and regional Victoria to assess infection control measures. We found the ADF visit worthwhile and positive and we are confident it has helped us further improve preparations for a potential COVID-19 outbreak. Read about the visit and more district news in our Community Update at www.mthcs.com.au Pictured (left) is MTHCS nurse Sophie Noonan practicing how to correctly put on and take off (don and doff) protective equipment, and MTHCS nurse Nadiene Peters completing the training observed by agency nurse Denise.

21.01.2022 The Chief Health Officer has announced changes to restrictions on visiting people in residential aged care facilities. One visitor is now permitted, once per day, for a maximum of 2 hours. Thank you to everyone who has been patient and understanding about the restrictions to visiting aged care facilities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Remember that if you are visting one of our aged care facilities, please book ahead by contacting the facility. When visiting, you must wear a face covering unless you have a lawful reason not to, and we will require you to please comply with all screening and infection control measures in place.

20.01.2022 Annual secondary review requirements have been relaxed, easing access concerns for palliative care patients. Palliative care patients were particularly concerned about being able to have ongoing access to pain-relief.

14.01.2022 Regulations concerning face masks have changed with the Premier’s announcement of eased restrictions recently. Face shields, scarves and bandannas will no longer meet these requirements. If someone chooses to wear a face shield in the community, they must also wear a face mask that adequately covers their nose and mouth. There is a grace period, which means Victorians will need to wear a reusable cloth mask or a disposable face mask by Monday October 12th. For information go to https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorias-restriction-levels-co

09.01.2022 This is not an ordinary spring. It is more important than ever to properly manage your hay fever and asthma this pollen season and check in with your GP to make sure your asthma action plan is up to date. With hay-cutting underway in the Mallee, symptoms might be especially severe in the coming weeks. People who are sneezing and coughing from hay fever or asthma may produce more droplets and if they have coronavirus, it could spread quickly. They may also be touching their face more frequently, increasing their risk of being infected with coronavirus if they are not practicing appropriate hand hygiene. GP appointments are available at Ouyen and Sea Lake Medical Clinics, and COVID-19 tests are available at MTHCS campuses in Ouyen and Sea Lake. Please call us to arrange an appointment to get tested on 5092-1111.

05.01.2022 This spring it’s more important than ever to speak to your doctor about managing your hay fever and asthma and if your symptoms are new or different to usual to get tested for coronavirus. Hay fever or asthma can produce symptoms similar to coronavirus such as a runny nose, cough or shortness of breath, and while good management can help prevent these, it is critical to get tested for coronavirus if these are different to your usual symptoms. Minister for Health Martin Foley said wearing a mask, maintaining physical distancing and practicing good hand hygiene remains critical during the pollen season.

04.01.2022 Some people have valid reasons for not being able to wear a mask so please show kindness and don't jump to any conclusions. And if you're one of those who can't wear a mask, there is some help at hand. DHHS has developed a series of badges for individuals to download on smartphones or print to keep in a wallet or lanyard holder for when they need to show others that they are unable to wear a face mask for a valid reason. For more information, including advice on lawful reasons for not wearing masks, go to https://buff.ly/30kaXST

We are encouraging everyone who drives a bus or delivers take-away food, groceries, or Meals on Wheels to be tested to help keep our communities safe. If commercial passenger vehicle drivers and food delivery drivers do not have any of the COVID-19 symptoms, they will not have to stay home to wait for their test results. Read the full story at www.mthcs.com.au Pictured: PAG worker Cindy Nunn is currently providing local transports for consumers. As a driver of a passenger vehicle, Cindy is supporting the blitz.
