14.01.2022 MT HELENA’S TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS RUN Father Christmas will be leaving from the Fire Station in Chidlow Street at 7.30 am and should have visited all homes by noon. Guardians who would like their child to participate should leave suitable articles at the Vibe Mt Helena during business hours between Monday 7 - 21 December.... Articles must be a size that can be easily handled [the fire vehicle is of a limited size even if Father Christmas’ sack isn’t] and they must be clearly labeled with the child’s name and address, where possible showing a street number rather than a lot number. We also ask that children keep a look out and be waiting at the gate for Santa. He has a long way to go and a lot of people to see so he can not go up driveways or wait too long if children are not present. If you have any queries please call one of the following: Elf 1: Robin Gill 0457 202 523 Elf 2: President (Andrew Duncan) 0419 913 110 Elf 3: Secretary (Clare Moffatt) 0421 803 249

09.01.2022 Good Morning Followers, We are humbled by the generosity of our community and your desire to lend a hand during these difficult times. We would like to take a moment to let you know that we are very well supported by the Shire of Mundaring and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA. ... There have been some comments made that fire stations need water bottles. We have easy access to bulk bottled water through our usual supply arrangements, this is funded through your own ESL contributions, part of your Shire of Mundaring rates. While donations will be received gratefully, we would prefer that your support go to those less fortunate than us at this time. On behalf of our Management Committee, could we suggest that donations to be made towards the formal appeals, such as the Lord Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund, which supports the families and individuals directly impacted in the fire zone. Thank you for your ongoing support and stay safe.

08.01.2022 Just a heads up that our Brigade will continue the hazard reduction burn at this same location from 11am today. It's important we get this work completed before the rain hits on Sunday! Thanks and have a great weekend.
07.01.2022 Thursday evening we attended a structure fire with Mundaring Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service & Parkerville Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade. A young boy had an incident which caused a fire in the shed, fortunately he was unharmed and his quick actions to call 000 to get help ASAP helped keep the Fire contained to a relatively small area. Despite the accident he remained calm and did what was needed to resolve the situation and for that we applaud him. This morning he came and brought some lovely baked goods, made by him, to the station to thank us for our assistance. We are just glad he is unharmed and commend him for calling 000 ASAP. Ps the baked good are very good indeed, not one was burnt! and they taste great. Promise I'll distribute them to the rest of the crew, well I'll try.

01.01.2022 Are you doing some spring cleaning around your house? Have you cleaned your bathroom or toilet extraction fans lately? Have a look at these photos from one of our members, You can see the fine dust that has built up on the extraction fan body and in the duct work! ... Most people will clean the grille, but it’s the fine dust on the motor that can cause a fire in the roof space. If you are handy, these fans can be removed fairly easily with simple household tools. If you are not confident, contact your local home handyman or electrician for assistance. Be sure to use the appropiate safety equipment while working at home. Clean the dust off with a compressed air jet or brush. DO NOT IMMERSE MOTOR IN WATER!
01.01.2022 This Morning some of our firefighters are on Keane Street East participating in the #getyaskirtsoff initiative.
